Chapter 35 Labyrinth In The Garden
"Damn it!" Nami thought. She really didn't know how to break George's grip, which had nearly frozen her hands. The only thing she could do was attack George directly and force him to release his grip.
"Why? Are you confused? How about you be my girlfriend so we can make this easier for you and me—"
"Don't even dream...!" Nami said, delivering a fatal kick to George's body.
Aware that Nami's lightning-fast kick could kill him, he protected herself by temporarily freezing the surface of his body so that Nami's kick wouldn't detect his vital organs.
Nami, however, wasn't attacking him to kill him, but simply to force George to release his grip. The plan worked, George immediately tried to dodge and automatically released his grip.
"Tch, you really are a bastard, aren't you? You want to kill me?" George cursed in annoyance, knowing how deadly Nami's kick would be if he didn't quickly dodge and shield himself with ice.
"Hey, damn Ice Prince, you better keep your offer because I don't want to be your girlfriend, do you understand? You bastard!" She said angrily as she walked away. Her blue hands made it quite difficult because her bones and muscles felt so stiff.
Nami walked past everyone who looked at her with disbelief and awe. Meanwhile, she was anxious because this problem would surely reach Levi's ears.
"I'm dead, what should I do? Levi will definitely find out about the trouble I've caused. What should I do?" She thought to herself. She was starting to feel anxious because it seemed she was still getting Levi involved in her trouble even though she was currently far away from him.
Nami took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. Her stomach growled because she hadn't had time to eat anything. She decided to relax in the backyard of the dormitory and the beautiful garden filled with flowers, trees and a maze left her stunned.
This garden reminded her of the garden in the laboratory's backyard. Usually, every weekend afternoon, Levi would sit on a bench in this garden, letting a black cat sleep on his lap.
Levi would read a book, only to get up from the bench when the cat woke up. Nami was amazed at how similar this garden was to Levi's favorite garden.
"There's even a bench that looks just like it. Truly extraordinary," she thought.
"I heard this garden was just finished being renovated the day before the new cadets arrived at the dormitory."
Hearing Ethan's voice, Nami immediately turned to the source of the voice. She was surprised to see Ethan standing in front of a pillar with his arms folded across his chest.
"How long have you been here?"
"So you can let your guard down, huh? I was here before you," he said coldly.
Nami's gaze returned to the garden, which reminded her of Levi and made her miss him even more, as if she were in the laboratory, just like every other day.
"This garden is very similar to the one in the courtyard behind the laboratory. The hydrangeas, the benches, the garden lights, and even the maze are exactly the same."
"I heard it took the workers a month to renovate the garden."
"Is that true?"
"And they say the renovation and re-concept of this park were at the request of Professor Levi Sanders."
Nami was stunned, as if she couldn't believe what she had just heard. It was Levi who had requested that this park be transformed to resemble the garden behind the laboratory, and who knew what his purpose was for doing all this right after she joined Yeager Academy and moved into the dorms.
"You seem to have a very close relationship with Professor Levi, huh?"
"You could say that. Since I was 10, Levi has been the only person who has always helped me. I couldn't do anything without him."
"Is that so?" Ethan began to find this conversation quite interesting, considering that he had participated in several science olympiads, which had led him to meet Levi. Like Lea, Ethan also greatly admired Levi and considered him his idol.
"Did you know that Professor Levi designed all the combat weapons and all the tools the Yeagers use to fight?"
"Yes, I know. Levi collaborated with the military to create weapons and also used himself as a guinea pig."
"Guinea pig? What do you mean?"
"When it comes to testing weapons, all the machinery, and combat equipment, Levi does it himself. He never allows anyone to be a guinea pig. That's why he often gets hurt, even injured, if the equipment he creates isn't up to snuff."
"He's truly a mad scientist."
"Haha...you're right! Levi is indeed crazy and reckless. I always ask to be his replacement because I think I'll be fine. But Levi would rather kick me out than let me replace him."
