Chapter. 30 Dancing with you
Carol's POV
I came to the party with Frans. When we got there, everyone was staring at the two of us with different expressions. Most were mesmerized by Frans' good looks, which were almost on a par with Logan's, but some were looking at me in disbelief. Could it be that they couldn't believe I was there? Or that my appearance was quite attractive. It's not that I'm overconfident. However, when I came out of the room earlier. I mesmerized Frans by my appearance tonight. And Haidar also complimented me despite his teasing remarks. So, there was a possibility that they would feel the same way.
Frans and I walked hand in hand until we reached the center of the party. We greeted Matthew, who was now officially a Beta in this pack.
"Congratulations Matthew. May you be the best second-in-command like your father was," I told him.
"You're welcome, Carol. You've got a new position now, too. I hope you can also be a great warrior leader like your father. Look, who's here?" said Matthew suddenly. Of course, we immediately turned our heads in the direction Matthew was pointing. It was Logan and Grace who came. Logan looked handsome, as usual. In fact, I had to look away to neutralize my thoughts.
"Here comes our special guest. It turns out he arrived before us. It's very moving to see his struggle," Grace said in a sarcastic tone.
"Sorry, Grace I hope. You didn't ruin the festive atmosphere of my party," Matthew reminded. He used to go to school with Grace, Logan, and me. So he also knew exactly what happened during the last party at school. I lowered my eyes in embarrassment at the thought.
"Oh, sure. Congratulations Matthew, you deserve to be a Beta in our pack," Grace said as she shook Matthew's hand. Logan had been silent since his arrival here. But before he congratulated Matthew. I saw him glance at me for a moment. Our eyes met for a while. Until finally I chose to leave that place first. Meanwhile, Logan continued his movement to congratulate Matthew while hugging the man briefly.
"Thank you, Logan. Please enjoy the party!" Matthew said, which I could still hear because the distance between the drinks and them was quite close. I was afraid Logan would follow her too. So I hurriedly invited Frans to move.
"Come on, let's find a seat, Frans!" I said as I tugged on Frans' coat collar before Logan could get close to us.
"Uh, wait! Wait! I haven't reached for my drink yet," Frans said.
"Just take mine, Frans. I'm suddenly not thirsty anymore," I retorted as I glanced at Logan, who was already standing at the drink stand. I saw that he was also watching me. So I immediately invited Frans to walk further.
Time passed. I no longer see Logan or Grace. Maybe they had left here or were enjoying the party atmosphere alone. I tried not to think about it and joined in the excitement of the party that Matthew had prepared. Frans invited me to dance in the middle of the area that had been provided. However, I refused. I couldn't do that before. I was afraid I would only embarrass Frans here.
"Don't worry! I'll teach you every move. When you understand everything. I'm sure you'll enjoy it, Carol," Frans coaxed.
"But, Frans-"
"That's it. No more dodging. You can do it. Just trust me," Frans said. While leading me to the dance area. At first I kept refusing, but finally I followed Frans' wishes. He really taught me every dance move. I had never done this dance before. Not because I didn't want to learn, but because I never had a partner before. Now I had Frans to teach me gently and patiently. It didn't take long before I could remember all the moves. Then we mingled with the others to enjoy the music.
I am now enjoying every move. From jumping and spinning to switching partners. However, I was suddenly surprised when I paired up with Logan.
"Logan! You're still here. I thought you had left," I said in a bit of a panic. Still, I continued my dance moves so no one would feel suspicious.
"You mean you missed the scene of the stupid girl being taught to dance by the intruder?" he replied in a sarcastic tone. I immediately tried to remove his hug from my waist. But Logan made it even tighter.
"Let go of me, Logan! Grace and Frans will see it!"
"So, you don't want them to see us. That's fine. If that's what you want." Logan pulled me away from the dance area. He kept pulling my hand until we got outside the quiet, dark party.
"Let go!" I rebelled again, and now Logan let go of his embrace. "Are you out of your mind? Why did you bring me to this place? What if Grace and Frans find us inside?" I scolded him angrily.
"Don't worry. They're too busy enjoying the dance. So they won't notice us leaving," Logan replied without feeling guilty.
"I was enjoying the dance too, before you ruined it." I replied harshly. Logan brought his body closer to mine. Then he confined me with both hands against the wall behind me.
"Did you really enjoy your time with that guy? I think my dancing is much better than his," Logan said confidently.
"Don't be so cocky, Logan! I never even thought you were that good," I retorted without daring to look him directly in the eye.
"Do you want to try it with me?" Logan asked, which immediately made my heart beat faster.
"No, I don't. I don't want to," I reply quickly.
"Are you sure?" I nodded in agreement. "Then tell me without avoiding my eyes!" Logan ordered.
"I won't!" I tried to defend myself. For fear that I would falter if I looked him directly in the eye. However, the rejection didn't deter Logan. Instead, he pulled my jaw. Then positioned his face right in front of me. I couldn't take it anymore. Logan's eyes immediately anesthetized me. They were so calm. I seemed to drown in them.
Logan unconsciously brought our bodies closer together. He pulled both my hands. Then put them on his shoulders. We started moving our bodies without letting go of each other's eyes. In fact, there was no music accompanying our dance moves. But, we enjoyed the atmosphere so much. We continued to move our bodies according to the rhythm of dance. I closed my eyes when Logan started to bring his face closer. I knew what he wanted to do. Even though he didn't say it first. We got closer and closer. Until when our lips almost touched suddenly, Frans and Grace's voices called our names.
"Logan!"
"Carol!" I opened my eyes wide when I heard Frans' voice getting closer. Reflexively, I immediately pushed Logan's body until he fell behind the bushes. I immediately got out of that place.
"Carol! Why are you here?" asked Frans.
"Sorry, Frans. Earlier, my trauma recurred, so I needed time to calm down. Can we go home now?" I lied.
"I understand. Let's just go home now." Frans took my hand as he was about to walk away. However, I looked back for a moment to see how
Logan was doing. The man was no longer there. Maybe he had already left.
