Chapter. 29 Why are you with him?

Author POV

Today Carol took Frans for a little longer walk than usual. It turned out that Frans' leg muscles were starting to heal, and he could walk better every day.

"I'm glad to be in your Pack, Carol. Although not everyone can accept my presence, but I can see such a beautiful view here," said Frans while standing on a high cliff that showed a beautiful view below. Carol smiled.

"Is there no place like this in your place?" Carol asked quietly. Frans shook his head slowly.

"No, no. Rookan Pack is surrounded only by wilderness. We are between two large, towering mountains. So we only have one view, those two mountains."

"It can also look beautiful if you see it in the morning or evening. When the sun is about to rise or set. It will bring a beautiful array of colors to the sky," Carol replied. Frans looked up at the sky.

"But, no one dares to go out. Everyone in my Pack chose to stay home."

"Why is that?" asked Carol curiously.

"Because we also believe in the Sun Goddess. When her rays come and go. Everyone was busy worshiping in each of their homes. No one dares to go out. For fear of the Sun Goddess' anger."

"Do you think the Sun Goddess is punitive?"

"Yes. An example of this happened to the Zekora people. They had to wear black robes to protect themselves from the Sun God's wrath."

"Hahaha." Carol laughed out loud at Frans' testimony.

"What's wrong?" she asked confused.

"Of course. Have you ever read a book about them?"

"About the Zekora?" Carol nodded firmly. "Not yet. There are very few books on science in my Pack. There are only books about the history, myths and general rules of the pack."

"Well, it's only right that you misjudge like that. Zekora are afraid of sunlight because their skin and eyes are sensitive to it. Most of their lives are underground. With minimal light and their skin is often exposed to gases in the soil. That's what makes them afraid of sunlight. It wasn't because the Sun Goddess cursed it.

"Oh, I see. You're very clever, Carol. The Rookan Pack will be very lucky. If they get a Luna like you," said Frans unconsciously.

"What are you talking about, Frans?" asked Carol, who couldn't quite hear what the man beside her was saying.

"Oh, no. How about we continue our journey? I think my leg muscles have had enough rest and want to get going again."

"You're right. I have to go to the headquarters soon, too. It's my first day as warrior leader."

"One more time. Congratulations Carol. You really deserve it."

"Hey! You've said it dozens of times. Can't I hear another word," Carol teased while stifling her giggles.

"Alright. What do you want to hear from my mouth? Is it a fairy tale? Hahaha." The two laughed together. While walking down the hill. However, who would have thought that they would run into Logan and Grace. Grace immediately took Logan's hand. That made Carol round her eyes for a moment before finally turning her face away in annoyance. Logan looked at Frans sharply.

"I see you've recovered. So, hurry up and pack up and get out of my Pack," Logan gently shooed Frans away.

"Don't worry. I won't break my promise. I will leave this place as soon as possible. If Mrs. Carol has given me permission to leave." Logan smiled briefly.

"I can force her to give you permission immediately. It's too easy for me."

"Logan! You may be an Alpha, but you don't need to bother meddling in the affairs of a healer and his patient. Frans is now my mother's patient. So, you can't force him to leave," Carol defended. "Come on, Frans! Let's continue our journey!" said Carol.

"Wait!" said Grace, causing Carol and Frans to stop. "There's a party tonight at Matthew Lorenzo's house. They've invited all the pack members with their spouses. I hope you can make it. As a farewell before your boyfriend really leaves, Carol," Grace continued sarcastically.

"I'm not going. I hate events like that." Carol replied curtly

"Hahaha. Of course you won't come. A cowardly girl like you will only make trouble there."

"No, I'm not. Not because of that?" Carol replied quickly.

"Then what's your excuse, Bad Form?"

"All right. I'll come. I'll prove it. If you're so wrong to judge me like that!" Carol's anger rose even more at being patronized by Grace like that.

"Okay. Then I'll see you tonight, loser!" Grace said. Carol, who could not vent her anger, chose to leave the place immediately. Frans soon followed. Although with a little faltering steps.

"Grace! Should you have done that to him?" asked Logan in a lofty tone.

"Why are you getting angry, Logan? I was just joking. I wasn't sure she was really coming, anyway. Remember, right? The last time she came to our last school party. She was. So stupid and made a fool of herself. I'm sure she's still traumatized by that."

"I don't know. But I don't agree with what you said to her."

"Take it easy, Logan. Just trust me," Grace said confidently.

Day turned into night. Carol began to get nervous about the party at Beta's house, the Black Moon Pack. Actually, she also received a special invitation as the current warrior leader. So, Carol couldn't avoid it anymore. She had to be there on time.

"Carol! Never mind. Stop walking around like that. I'm getting a headache, honey," Jane said to her beloved daughter.

"Yes, Carol. What exactly are you afraid of by coming to the party? I think everything will go on as usual," said Frans.

"No, Frans. It's not that easy. I have my own traumas when it comes to parties like that."

"What are you so afraid of? Maybe I can help," said Frans. Carol looked at Frans for a moment, but then she went back to walking around again with an increasingly panicked face mixed with embarrassment.

"Back when we went to the school party. Only Carol wore the wrong costume and she didn't have a partner there. That made people immediately mock her and bully Carol very badly. In fact, I remember it very well. If I was called by Carol's teacher to pick her up at school. Because I found Carol very scared in one of the school toilets," Jane explained.

"Oh, just because of that. You can come with me. I'm sure they can't make fun of you anymore. Besides, now that everyone knows about your extraordinary ability to pack. That will make people respect you, Carol."

"Frans is right, Carol. Try to calm down and come like everyone else," added Mrs. Carol.

"But what about the clothes I should wear, Mom? I don't have a proper dress to bring there," Carol said desperately.

"Can I come as a hero?" said Haidar, who suddenly appeared from behind the door.

"Haidar," muttered Carol with a frown on her forehead.

"Look at this. This is my wife's dress. She wanted to wear it tonight, but her growing belly didn't fit her anymore. It looks like you're the same size as her. So, I'm sure it will fit perfectly. In addition, I also bought a suit that I didn't wear today. Frans can use it who will accompany you to the event," said Haidar, who had high hopes for Carol. Carol ran to Haidar and hugged him tightly.

"Thank you, Haidar. You are my best cousin," Carol said happily.

"I need to remind you! If you only have me as your cousin. So, it doesn't make any impression on me," he teased.
