Chapter 88

Isadora's POV.

After a little while, a doctor walked in with an image in hand and announced, "The Queen is pregnant with twins."

A mix of emotions flooded through me as the doctor's words echoed in the room. Twins? It was beyond anything I could have anticipated. Golem's eyes widened, reflecting a blend of astonishment and joy. He gently squeezed my hand, and a smile broke across his face.

"Twins, you mean not just one pup but two?" he murmured, almost in disbelief, and then turned to the doctor, "Are they healthy?"

The doctor nodded. "Yes, both appear healthy and developing well, Your Highness."

"We're going to be parents of twins," Golem exclaimed.

I looked up at him, feeling a surge of love and gratitude. "Yes, we are," I replied, my heart swelling with anticipation for the journey ahead.

Golem embraced me and declared at the top of his voice the echoes of his excitement, shaking the foundation of the hospital, "This calls for a celebration!"

As we made our way out of the hospital, hand in hand, the reality of our impending parenthood sank in. Thoughts of nursery decorations, baby names, and endless cuddles filled my mind, and I couldn't help but smile at the thought of our future together.

Golem squeezed my hand gently, his eyes filled with love and excitement. "Can you believe it, Isadora? Twins," he said.

I chuckled softly, feeling a wave of happiness wash over me. "I know, it's incredible," I replied. "I can't wait to meet them, to hold them in my arms and watch them grow."

Golem nodded, his expression filled with determination. "We'll be the best parents we can be," he declared. "We'll give our twins the love and support they need to thrive, no matter what."

I nodded in agreement, feeling a sense of confidence wash over me. With Golem by my side, I knew we could handle whatever challenges parenthood threw our way. Together, we would create a loving and nurturing home for our growing family, filled with laughter, joy, and endless love.

As we drove back to the palace, the car's speed stirred up memories of past trauma, losing my first pregnancy in that accident, and my mood quickly shifted. Sensing my unease, Golem turned to me, concern etched on his face.

"What's wrong, Isadora?" he asked.

I couldn't find the words to express my discomfort, so I simply pointed at the driver, hoping Golem would understand.

Golem followed my gaze to the driver, then back to me, his brows furrowing in confusion. "Is the car too fast for you?"

I nodded silently, and Golem wasted no time addressing the issue. He turned to the driver and issued a stern command to slow down.

Feeling a bit relieved, I diverted Golem's attention with a mischievous idea. "Hey, baby, I have an idea," I said, tapping him on the shoulder. "You know everyone at the palace must be dying of curiosity about the pregnancy. How about we play a prank on them? We'll tell them it was all a lie before revealing the truth."

Golem looked at me skeptically, his hand rubbing his beard as he contemplated the suggestion. "I'm not sure that's a good idea, my love," he replied hesitantly.

I flashed him a playful smirk, trying to persuade him. "Come on, it'll be fun! Trust me, you're a little too stiff sometimes. A harmless prank won't hurt anyone."

After a moment of reluctance, Golem relented with a sigh. "Okay, okay, fine," he conceded, though his agreement seemed reluctant. I couldn't help but giggle at his acquiescence, looking forward to the mischief we were about to stir up.

As we entered the palace, anticipation bubbled within me. Golem, holding a bottle of champagne, took a deep breath, his excitement barely contained. For the first time, I saw a blush of anticipation color his cheeks, I could tell he was enjoying the thrill just like me.

With a determined look, he pushed the door open, revealing a crowd of eager faces—family, friends, and well-wishers who hadn't yet departed after the coronation.

Their eyes locked on us, and they surged forward, led by Lisa, whose curiosity was palpable. "Isadora, how did it go? Are you truly having a pup?" she demanded, her voice brimming with excitement.

I shook my head, struggling to maintain a somber expression, and remained silent. Amidst the clamor, someone from the back shouted at the DJ to turn off the music, unable to hear.

Lisa, growing more bewildered, turned to Golem, who mirrored my expression of silence. "Someone talk to me! Why are you both silent? Your silence is fucking driving me crazy!" she exclaimed.

Golem and I exchanged a quick glance, and I couldn't help but stifle a laugh at Lisa's unexpected use of curse words. It wasn't like her at all, and it was both amusing and endearing. Golem, breaking character, shyly smiled, then shook the champagne bottle vigorously and popped it open with a flourish.

"We're not just having one pup but two!" he declared.

The crowd erupted into cheers and applause, excitement rippling through the room like wildfire. Drinks were passed around, and the atmosphere transformed into that of a lively celebration.

Lisa enveloped me in a tight hug, her warmth and joy infectious. "I'm so happy for you, sister. Congratulations, my queen. You deserve it," she gushed.

Returning her embrace, I held her close, feeling grateful for her unwavering support. Lisa was more than a friend—she was family, the one person who had loved me like no other.

As we pulled apart, Lisa reached into her purse and handed me a brown envelope. "I don't know if now is the right time to tell you this, but why don't you just see for yourself," she suggested.

Curiosity piqued, I took the envelope, wondering what surprise she had in store for me.

Giving Lisa a calculating gaze, I asked, "Who's this from?"

She glanced away from my eyes and replied, "It's from Eamon."

At the mention of his name, a tingle shot through my chest, and I clenched my teeth. "Take it back. I don't want to read anything from him," I said, passing the envelope back to her.

"Isadora, don't be mad at me, okay? It's not my fault. When he was escorted out, he gave it to one of the guards and asked that it be given to you personally. Since you left for the hospital, the guards brought it to me instead," Lisa explained, her expression sincere and apologetic.

"It's okay, my love. I could never be mad at you. On the contrary, it's just that idiot I'm mad at. There's something about hearing his name that makes my blood boil," I replied, pressing my palm to my face and pushing my hair back. "Let me be, Eamon. What is your problem?"I muttered to myself.

"I understand, Issa. Is there something I can do to help restore your mood?" Lisa asked.

"A glass of water will be fine," I responded. With that, Lisa left to get me one.

As I stood waiting for Lisa's return, feeling the weight of exhaustion and the memories of past pain, Lisa returned with a glass of water, her concern evident in her eyes. I gulped it down in one go, trying to push away the rising unease.

Memories of Eamon's betrayal flooded back, and I knew I couldn't bear to join the party. I kissed Lisa goodnight and slowly made my way toward my room, the echoes of laughter and celebration fading behind me.

Just as I reached the staircase, Golem's voice cut through the air, his concern palpable. "My love, what's the matter? Going to bed early? Aren't you going to join us for the party?" he inquired.

Summoning a weak smile, I replied, "I don't think so, baby. I'm feeling dizzy already. You guys go on and party on my behalf."

"He sure will my queen", one of the men declared he picked Golem up on his neck from behind and lifted him up while they splashed champagne on each other.

No doubt at all they were having a blast and I was missing out.

As Golem was swept up by the revelry, I couldn't shake the feeling of isolation and sadness as I dragged my feet up the stairs to my room, I gazed at the bed, longing for solace.

But before I could even take a step toward it, strong arms enveloped me from behind, a hand covering my mouth to stifle any screams. Panic surged through me as a voice whispered urgently in my ear, "Don't scream, Isadora, please."

My heart pounded against my chest, fear gripping me as I struggled against the grip. Who was behind me, and what did they want?
