Chapter 87
Isadora POV.
Just as I opened my eyes, they landed on a familiar set of eyes, ones that caused me so much pain in the past, and I had prayed never to set eyes upon again.
I pulled out of the embrace with Lisa, and the smile immediately disappeared from my lips. "What are you doing here? I don't remember sending you an invitation," I demanded.
"Isadora, please forgive me. Give me another chance to make things right with you. I've learned my lesson, and I learned it the hard way," he responded, going on his knees.
I glared at him, a mix of anger and disbelief welling up inside me. "Another chance? You don't get to waltz back into my life and ask for another chance, Eamon. You hurt me more than you can imagine," I retorted, my voice firm.
Lisa looked between us, visibly uncomfortable, sensing the tension in the air. I took a deep breath, trying to compose myself. "You had your chance, Eamon. It's too late now, I've moved on and you should too" I declared, turning away from him, my focus back on the celebration.
Eamon knelt there, a mix of regret and desperation etched across his face. "Isadora, I love you. I made a mistake, but I've changed. Please, let me prove it to you," he pleaded, his eyes pleading for forgiveness.
I shook my head, refusing to let his words sway me. "Love is not a magic wand that erases the past, Eamon. You can't undo the pain you caused. I've moved on, and I won't let you disrupt my life again," I asserted, trying to convey a sense of finality.
The crowd watched the scene unfold, a hushed silence lingering over the gathering. Golem casually walked over and placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. "What's going on here my love and who's this guy supposed to be? " he whispered.
"Nobody special, baby," I responded. I turned around to Eamon addressing him one last time, I said, "Leave, Eamon. This is not the place for your stupid apologies. I won't let the past haunt me again." With that, I turned away, focusing my attention on Golem leaving Eamon behind, still on his knees.
Eamon got on his feet and took one of my hands. Golem glared at him, his eyes turning red with fiery intensity. Eamon begged, saying, "Isadora, it hurts to see you in the hand of another. Please, let's go back to the couple we used to be. The Firewolf pack misses you."
I aggressively pulled my arm away from his grip. Golem gently pulled me beside him, leaving him face-to-face with Eamon without any obstruction. Golem's eyes were void of joy as he said, "I don't want to know who you are, but you have overstayed your welcome. I will advise you to leave now unless..."
Before Golem could complete his statement, Eamon retorted, saying, "Unless what?" with an impatient expression on his face.
It was about to get messy, and I knew it. I couldn't allow Eamon and his ego issues to ruin my happiest day. I stepped forward, attempting to diffuse the tension, saying, "Eamon, what are you trying to start, a war? Look around you, Eamon, this isn't the West. Don't come here starting something you won't..."
But just before I could complete the statement, another vomit gushed out of my mouth, landing directly on Eamon's face. The crowd gasped, and the tension shifted to a different kind of shock. Eamon stood frozen in disbelief.
Captivated by surprise, I subconsciously covered my mouth with my palm, apologizing, "Sorry, that wasn't intentional."
But the crowd made it hard for him to believe as they burst into laughter, mocking him and pointing fingers.
Eamon barked, "Is this some kind of sick joke?"
I was about to respond when Golem placed a finger on my lips and said, "That's enough, Baby. Let me take it over from here."
Golem turned his gaze to Eamon and said, "That's what you get for going after another man's woman."
Eamon responded aggressively, still covered up in a veil of embarrassment, "She was my woman first."
Golem retorted, saying, "Not anymore." With that, he signaled to the chief guard and Rodrigo, who stepped forward, ready to escort Eamon out.
The crowd continued their mocking laughter, but at this point, Eamon was the least of my problems. My mind was in a whirlwind of contemplation as I wondered if I was truly pregnant or not.
Amidst my thoughts, I heard Eamon yell at the chief guard, "Don't touch me. I know my way out." With that, he gave me one final look, adjusted his suit, and slowly walked out of the crowd, an embarrassed expression on his face.
The crowd's laughter gradually subsided, and I was left standing there, still trying to process the unexpected visit from Eamon. Golem pulled me into a reassuring embrace, shielding me from the prying eyes. As we stood there, I couldn't shake off the unsettling feeling that lingered within me.
The elder, sensing the need to redirect attention, spoke up, "Let the celebrations continue! Long live the King and Queen of the South!"
The cheers and applause erupted once more, drowning out the lingering awkwardness. I looked around, searching for Lisa's familiar face, and spotted her with Rodrigo, both looking amused by the spectacle.
Golem, still holding me close, whispered, "Are you okay, Isadora?"
I nodded saying, "Yes, my love, I am," my mind racing with thoughts over the repeated vomits. The old women approached, wearing amused expressions, and one of them chuckled, "The heir is on the way."
I rolled my eyes at the old lady, dismissing her comment as pure delusion.
Golem leaned in, whispering in my ears, "Hey baby, don't you think we should get you some form of ultrasound to confirm if you're really pregnant or not? Honestly, the suspense is killing me."
Honestly, that wasn't a bad idea at all. The suspense was taking a toll on me.
I held Golem's gaze and responded, "Okay, baby."
A few seconds later, a car was arranged, and we were headed straight to the Southern Clinic, the largest hospital in the south.
We arrived a few minutes later, and the doctors got to work, applying gel to my stomach. It felt thick. After that, they proceeded to move a machine over my belly, running it from top to bottom.
My heart raced with every passing second. Golem stood close to me through the whole process, watching everything unfold.
After a little while, a doctor walked in with an image in hand and announced, "The Queen is pregnant with twins."
