Derek's POV
Anna refused for us to help Ellie, and I had to hear her family bitch about it. Every day they came to my office and begged me to let her come home. I told them no, but they didn't stop. It was stressful, and I know Anna could sense it. Her belly was bigger with our pup, and I couldn't wait to see him. She was always by the window that showed huge trees where squirrels ran up and down them. I found her there every day staring out into the backyard, no doubt thinking about everything. I know I put her through hell, and I know she doubts what I say and do. I can feel it even when she says nothing. Most times when she is sleeping I go into her mind, and I hate what I see and hear. I hurt her very deeply, so deep it may take our whole lifetime to work through.
Anna stays quiet, though she never voices much, and sometimes I hear her crying in the shower when she thinks I've left for the pack house. I hate that she still hurts. I want her to be happy now.
"Alpha," my beta Wesley says, getting my attention. "Oh great," Aiden mumbles, "here we go again."
"Yes, Wesley. "What can I help you with?" You know what is up; the douchebags are back.
"They are back again," he said, sounding annoyed. "Knew it," Aiden grumbles, pissed. "Just let me out; I will take care of this."
"Fuck, they don't quit," I say, running my hands through my hair. You know they won't; they always wanted that little bitch to be Luna, and they didn't care if she was your true mate or not.
"Should I let them in?" I sigh as he asks, knowing I usually don't till later.
"Yeah, might as well get it over with," I sign out. He leads them in, and her dad starts right away. Here we go again. I think I'm hardly listening as he rambles on and on.
"It's only fair after you used her to let our child come home for help," he fumes. She was used to it; it wasn't just me.
"No, she has a mate, and he can help her," I say, cutting him off. The point of mates is they are supposed to help you with shit. They help you get through anything that troubles you. A mate helps carry the load.
"You're so worried about that worthless mate of yours that you're going to let a pack member suffer," he says, glaring at me. He needs to stop calling our Anna worthless. Aiden growls.
"Again, my mate has nothing to do with Ellie. She fucked up; she can deal with it. Plus she is with her new pack and her mate; I'm sure she can get help from them." I sign out, getting frustrated with this bullshit. "Yes, straight-up bullshit," Aiden snarls.
"Your dad should have never let you take over," he said, and then I had enough. I'm griping at my desk, and new anger hits. My claws extend and my teeth elongate as I partially shift.
"I'm your fucking alpha," I said, rising from my seat. "If you ever disrespect me again like you have been for weeks, I will lock you in a cell and then boot your sorry ass from my pack. She isn't allowed back here, and if she comes back, I will fucking decapitate her and shove her head up your ass!!" I roar, barely containing Aiden. Yes, finally put these bitches in their place. Aiden smiles. He was at the surface, and I really had to fight to keep him in. Ellie's dad gasped in shock, and her mom started to cry. Wesley had his mouth hanging open, and I sat down still pissed. "Don't come out like a crazy wolf," I say to him.
"I think it's best if you go be in her new pack because obviously you're not happy here. "I grant you permission to leave, but you can never return once you do," I say, looking at them, waiting for their answer.
"Sorry, Alpha," her mom says softly. Her mom has been crying every time she comes here, but it is probably due to her mate. He is an ass.
I'm already done with this shit.
"No more coming to my office with this. I told you no; that means no. If my answer doesn't satisfy you, you can leave this pack. "This conversation is over, so leave," I say, pointing to the door. Wesley waits till they are gone before he breaks into laughs that include snorting.
"Oh my, you're so awesome," he says, wiping tears away.
"Yeah, I'm incredible," I say sarcastically.
Later, after working on stuff, I head home to Anna in a better mood. She is closer to her due date, so I want to be around more. Walking in, I hear voices, and Aiden comes to the surface.
"It's all your fault, you fat bitch." Oh no, the fuck he didn't. Aiden rushes to the surface pissed.
"I'm sorry; I don't know what you're talking about," she says softly. My poor mate is always so sweet.
"You're the reason my Ellie can't come home," Ellie's dad scoffs.
"Mr. Smith, I have nothing to do with that. "Derek decided to ban her," Anna says. I round the corner, chest heaving, as he goes towards my mate. She shields her belly as he laughs darkly.
"My Ellie should be here pregnant, not you," he adds. Wesley, I mind-linked. Come to my home and bring warriors. Ellie's dad is here going after Anna.
"BACK THE FUCK UP FROM MY MATE!!" I roar, causing Anna to jump and run to me. I feel her shaking as I hold her. Her touch calms me, and I glare at Ellie's dad, my eyes flashing between blue and black because Aiden was ready to bust out and kill him. He looks terrified as Wesley and warriors run in. Wesley is pissed and snatches hold of him, his claws cutting into his arm.
"Take him to the cells. I'll decide later what to do with him," I growled.
Anna hugs me, shaking, and I instantly go into worried mode. I feel tears, and I flip till she whimpers.
"I'm sorry, Derek. "I'm sorry you're stuck with me and not her," she says softly, sniffing as she wipes her face.
"No, my angel, you did nothing wrong. I told him to stop bugging her, and he wouldn't stop. I am going to kick them from the pack. Him coming near you is the last straw. "I love you, little one," I murmur, picking her up and holding her.
"I love you too," she says in a shaky voice. I kiss her lips and hold her. After this I may just kill him. She hugs me, shaking, and I just hold her. Poor Anna, my wolf purrs, trying to help calm her down.
No one goes after my little ones.
