Chapter 745: She Might Be Pregnant

Not long after, Andrew returned.

Hearing movement at the door, Rosalind rushed over in a panic.

"Andrew! What did the doctor say? Did they make a mistake earlier?"

Andrew gave a bitter smile. He wished it had been a mistake.

But the outcome was the opposite of what he had hoped for.

The doctor had emphasized to him that if Benjamin didn't wake up today, he wouldn't make it.

Perhaps it was because Andrew seemed relatively composed that the doctor spoke to him more directly than usual.

Andrew's first reaction was to grab the doctor and ask, "If he wakes up, can you save him?"

But the doctor believed Benjamin's condition made it nearly impossible for him to regain consciousness.

Even if he did wake up, the doctor said, "He may not hold on for long."

There was no false hope in those words.

Andrew knew the doctor was speaking the truth.

Even without looking at Benjamin's medical report, Andrew was aware that losing a kidney had severely weakened Benjamin's overall condition.

Even if Benjamin woke up, his body likely wouldn't last much longer.

Despite knowing this, Andrew wasn't willing to give up.

If something happened to Benjamin, Rosalind would lose her mind.

Andrew clung to the doctor, pleading softly, "If Benjamin does wake up, please do everything you can to save him."

After the doctor nodded, Andrew hurried toward the ward.

They had to act quickly to wake Benjamin, no matter the method.

When Rosalind saw the bitter smile on Andrew's face, her heart clenched painfully, and her head throbbed.

Her legs gave out, and she collapsed to the floor.

"Benjamin! My Benjamin!"

She pounded the ground, her anguish making her look like a madwoman.

Andrew rushed to help her up.

"Mom, don't do this…"

He had known Rosalind wouldn't be able to handle it.

It seemed there was no other choice but to find Anna.

The moment Andrew saw Benjamin unconscious, Anna came to mind.

He was certain that Anna was the only one who could save Benjamin now.

Even though their family had promised not to disturb her again, Benjamin's life was on the line. Andrew had no choice but to break that promise.

As he helped Rosalind up, Andrew said, "Mom, we can go to Anna. Anna might be able to save Benjamin."

After venting her emotions earlier, Rosalind had already lost hope in the doctors at the hospital.

Hearing that Anna could save Benjamin, she immediately saw a glimmer of hope.

"Yes! Anna can definitely save Benjamin!" Rosalind's voice trembled. "Let's go find her! Let's go now!"

While the two hurried to find Anna, she was sitting in the courtyard, lounging on a chair.

Adrian sat beside her, recounting Carmen McCoy's fate.

Carmen McCoy had been escorted back to the capital and was now imprisoned.

Hearing this, Anna couldn't help but marvel at how efficient it was.

However, remembering how Carmen McCoy had been released not long after her previous imprisonment, Anna looked at Adrian and asked,

"She won't get out this time, right?"

Adrian replied, "Don't worry, this time it's foolproof."

Not only had he taken precautions to prevent Carmen McCoy's release, but even her two uncles wouldn't allow her any loopholes to escape this time.

"By the way, the person who tampered with the car at the hospital has been caught. They confessed that it was Alex's doing. How do you want to handle it?" Adrian suddenly asked.

He had just received the news earlier. Before the culprit was caught, the hospital's surveillance system had been restored.

Now they not only had the man but also hard evidence.

The man had confessed he was acting on Alex's orders-a fact they had already gleaned from Carmen McCoy, so it didn't come as a surprise.

In the past, Adrian might have worried that Anna would show mercy and quietly deal with Alex's actions.

But now, after hesitating for a moment, he decided to let Anna make the call herself.

Hearing that Alex was behind it, Anna casually said, "Hand him over to the police."

She was already thoroughly disappointed in the Hayes family and saw no need to waste any more energy on them.

Adrian nodded. "Alright, I'll have him handed over to the police."

May called the two inside for dinner, and Anna leisurely followed Adrian indoors.

But as she sat down and looked at the food on the table, she realized she didn't have much of an appetite.

Even so, Anna forced herself to eat a few bites.

The result was immediate-she felt a wave of nausea and rushed to the bathroom, covering her mouth.

She dry-heaved a few times but didn't bring anything up.

The nausea lingered, however, leaving her feeling miserable.

"Are you feeling unwell?" Adrian followed her in, his face full of concern.

Anna nodded. "A little."

For the past two days, everything she ate made her feel nauseous, and she'd been low on energy.

"I'll call a doctor right now to check on you," Adrian said anxiously, already reaching for his phone.

Anna stopped him. "Don't worry, it's probably just the food not agreeing with me."

She only felt this way during meals, so she didn't think it was worth calling a doctor over.

Besides, as a medical professional herself, she could tell that there was nothing seriously wrong.

She assumed her discomfort might just be due to the change in weather.

But no sooner had she said this than another wave of nausea hit her, and she dry-heaved again.

Adrian, still deeply worried, insisted on calling a doctor.

Just then, May came in with a cloth and happened to witness Anna retching.

"Could it be… Madam, are you pregnant?" May asked curiously.

Her words made both Adrian and Anna turn to look at her.

Anna appeared more stunned than anything, while Adrian's expression was a mix of shock and joy.

Without hesitation, Adrian took the cloth from May and carefully helped Anna back to the living room.

He gently settled her on the sofa and immediately dialed the doctor, urging them to come quickly.

Anna, still in a daze, allowed Adrian to take charge. It wasn't until she was seated on the sofa that she snapped out of it.

She realized she could check herself.

Placing two fingers on her wrist, Anna silently took her pulse. After a few moments, her body tensed.

It seemed… it was true.

Although pulse diagnosis wasn't entirely reliable, her menstrual cycle was late.

As the realization hit her, Anna instinctively placed a hand on her abdomen.

Could she really be pregnant?

When Adrian finished his call, he noticed Anna's stunned and astonished expression.

He gently wiped her lips and cheeks with the warm cloth.

"What's wrong? Are you still feeling unwell?" he asked softly.

Anna shook her head, then instinctively grabbed Adrian's hand and placed it on her abdomen.

"We might really have a baby," she whispered.

Adrian froze, his entire body stiffening. Though his hand couldn't feel anything yet, just hearing Anna's words filled his eyes with uncontainable joy.
