Baby Items
Baby Items
Alana's POV
Going shopping with my sister to purchase baby items was literally the highlight of my whole week. We didn't care about the gender, we just got things in neutral colors because we wanted the excuse to go out.
After Ryan got on seat, he became even more busy, running two different companies, one a great empire. I on the other hand, did nothing but fuck my future husband.
Well, I guess it was okay to become a lazy house fiancee, maybe that's why I was just being such an annoying sister. Amanda seemed to like it though.
She was responding well to treatment and it made me believe what the phycologist said, that it's just high stress that caused her issue and that she was already getting better. Nothing crazy, no crash outs. The right environment was fixing her.
Her pregnancy was also growing well, the bump finally making an appearance. I literally force myself to stop crying from being too happy.
We walked into a baby shop and apparently, the staff knew exactly who I was. I didn't even realize I was this famous.
“Oh my gosh it's Miss Alana!” They all gushed over me, and it made me so happy because it was really crazy, how my image changed from a homebreaker, a cheater, to now widely acceptable. What really went down between Ryan and Linda wasn't exactly a topic of discussion but they still accepted me anyway. I was eternally grateful to them.
They were all over me, welcoming me. Then one of them asked me the most bizarre question, as if my clearly pregnant sister was invisible.
“You're pregnant, Miss? That's incredible!”
“No, my sister is.” Then they turned to face her. I don't know, but that pissed me off so much.
“Oh, wow. She's so pretty.” They began to compliment her, and it didn't sit right with me. So this is what happens when one gets famous? Ignoring my sister right in front of me? Excuse me?
It was hypocritical or all for show, and I wasn't having it. I took my sister out of the store, no matter how much they called us back. Even my sister didn't understand why I did what I did but I didn't tell her, I just took her to a different store.
This one was better, felt like home and definitely smelled like babies. Clearly my sister approved because she wasn't as uptight as she was when we were in the first store. This one was relatively cheaper and the staff treated us better and the same, even though most of them also knew who I was.
They took us to the best sections where she picked everything she wanted with a guide while I just watched. I didn't want to influence her decisions or her thoughts, this was just to distract her.
The way her eyes lit up when a new helpful product was dangled right in her face gave me life, like she was no longer panicking, like she was more than excited to have the baby finally. I felt emotional, so I had to say it.
“You seem excited, too excited if I might add. Having fun?”
“Yes. Although I didn't let myself enjoy my life as a young girl before getting pregnant, I'm going to give my baby all the love and support she needs. I think I feel fulfilled with Gerald. I'm very happy.”
“That's so beautiful.” We embraced, almost crying in each other's arms. After shopping, two carts were filled up so we headed for the car while a staff member filled up the booth with the baby items.
She had already attended her antenatal visits for the week so now it was time to fulfill our cravings.
We visited an ice cream shop and got a handful, then we sat down and enjoyed ourselves after a hot day.
My sister was radiant, beautiful and her hair was already growing back.
When we got home, we met Ryan and Gerald having a chat in the living room and after we dismantled it, I decided to have one with Gerald. Ryan went upstairs, Amanda was obsessing over all the stuff we got and Gerald was staring at her half the time, a pretty smile on his face. He loved her.
“What plans do you have for Amanda? You know you got her pregnant.”
He smiled.
“I won't say it was an accident. We just didn't expect it.” Gerald was blushing hard. What a finished man.
“Why? Weren't you sleeping with her unprotected?” I teased.
“Are you attacking me now? Alana, seriously?” We both burst into laughter. Obviously I was kidding.
“Well now you know I'm scary, so you better take care of her and never hurt her. I'm saying this as her elder sister.”
He nodded his head strongly.
“You don't have to worry about that. She's the one that needs the advice. She drives me crazy everyday, even before all this development. Isn't it clear that I was far too invested since I've refused to leave her alone? We've been going strong for a while now and I'm very happy about it.”
“And, marriage? What about that? Any plans?”
“Actually, I'm dying to marry her. Like, dying. But if you notice, I'm also scared of her, so I'm nervous to ask and I won't for the time being because I feel I hurt her with this baby. Imagine acting out so bad she needed help. She won't really enjoy her single life or a life without a child anymore and I wanted that for her, but now it's gone. I feel responsible.”
I frowned and shook my head.
“Of course not, she slept with you too. It takes two to get one pregnant, hello? Don't put the blame on yourself. We all make mistakes and she's learning from hers. Don't worry about it, I don't mind taking care of my niece or nephew while she's out and about. I'm already a house fiancee, it's fun. And you work as well, so don't put it on yourself. She'll have as much fun as she wants, okay?”
He sighed dramatically.
“Alright. I understand.”
“Thanks for letting me have this talk with you. I'm sure she's pretty excited to show you everything she's got so go meet her.”
We rose up together and headed to our separate rooms.
When I walked in, Ryan was in bed, on his phone.
I went into the shower first, freshened up, then went to meet him. I flung his phone away and made him gather me in his arms, then proceeded to tell him all about my day.
“I thought you're a busy man? I didn't expect you to be home this early.” I asked, confused.
“I didn't go to work.”
“Why not?” Actually, he's not been going for a while, but it did seem like he was going today.
“Because you're not there? I promise I'll resume soon. I just need a couple of more days with my soon to be wife. And can we start with the wedding preparations already? I'm dying to make her mine, to trap her with me forever with no escape.”
My smile was wide, my cheeks stained red.
“And here I was thinking you'd never ask. So you don't plan to keep me engaged forever then?”
“Of course not! You're silly, wifey.”
“So, getting a wedding planner?”
“No, I figured you'd want to plan it yourself and I'm so finished, I plan to get involved. Let's plan it together, so it can be perfect. Just us, anything we want. How about that?”
“I love it. Let's do it!”
