You Invited Vinta?

You Invited Vinta?

Alana's POV

All eyes were on us when we came out. My sister had even been looking for me and let me not lie, I literally forgot about her existence the whole time I was with Ryan. How did my high school bully end up making me so stupid happy?

Even though a lot of them didn't know what we've been up to, I still felt shy.

I took my seat, deciding to see my sister after that but Ryan had a speech to give.

He walked to the podium, looking the most handsome, and he didn't even need a prepared speech. The second his lips began to move, we were all moved to tears.

He started off by clearing his throat then he began to address us.

“Good morning everyone, and thank you for coming. I really appreciate it.”

We cheered him on and his smile, the most gorgeous thing ever.

“You know me. My parents are in prison, my brother, everyone. So I got this but I just want to say this as we begin business my own way. It was never his. It always belonged to my mother. Bless her heart.”

It brought tears to my eyes.

“My mom started this beautiful empire all by herself. She got married, had an insecure husband, so she gave him everything, only for him to stab her in the back. I will never understand it, but I do know this speech is for her. I wouldn't be here if not for her so I remain internally grateful. For that, as we move forward, I intend to change the name of this empire to her maiden name! Name change effective immediately!”

Everyone stood up, struggling for who cheered and who clapped the loudest. They all seemed proud of him and I was completely blown away by his thoughtfulness.

When he was done he came back to join me, and I squeezed his hands to show support. His fingers were trembling. He was definitely in his feelings and he clearly missed his mother.

Well, it was a successful event as there was a lot to eat and drink. I went to meet my sister who was standing and staring into space, I wasn't sure. I let Ryan talk and greet the more important dignitaries that I could barely give two fucks about.

“Where were you?” She asked when I came to join her.

“I'm sorry, I knew you were looking for me. We went to do something, but don't worry I'm back, okay?” I tried to convince her.

“Yeah. It's a really nice event. I'm proud of your boss– Ryan.”

“You really have to stop calling him my boss now. Try to get used to it, or call him brother in law.”

She just shook her head in disbelief and admiration.

“My sister is really getting married. She's really getting her happy ending.”

“We both are. We'll both get it, I promise.”

Just then, we spotted the convoy of men in black. It was barely unmistakable. I didn't need to think too much or guess who it was. Ryan invited Vinta? Why?

Whatever. My sister, everyone else was scared of Vinta so the hall took a different turn. I barely cared anyway, and instead of that asshole approaching the man of the hour, he approached me instead. I kid you not, all eyes were on us. My sister tried to run but I held her hands, trying to comfort her that he wouldn't hurt her.

Crazy how I personally went from hearing scary stories about Vinta, being scared of him from afar to not giving a flying hoot about him at all. He was dangerous and all, but now he was nothing but a pal to me.

“You look beautiful in that dress. I had to speak to you first the second I saw it.”

He was pretty old at around sixty, but he was still clean, dashing, and he came correct. He definitely still had game and there was no doubt that he was still good in bed at his age, not like I was dying to find out anyway.

My smile was genuine though. He was smiling right back. No, he was trying to flirt with me. The audacity. I had a feeling he would try to take me from Ryan if I didn't love my future husband. Clearly he was that brazen, after all he took his son's mistress.

I spotted Ryan staring at me from afar as I was blushing like a damn fool. He was talking to someone. Finally everyone had gone back to their business. Was Ryan jealous of an old man now?

“Thank you. Where's Taylor?”

Vinta sighed dramatically, then shook his head.

“She dumped me for my son after I stole her from him. What a woman. You're even better. Too bad I can't take you. Your sister though…”

He turned his attention to her, and she literally froze.

“Stay away from her. You better be careful, Vinta.” I warned sternly, scared of my own self.

“Understood. She's with child. Who is the lucky man?”

I rolled my eyes.

“Ryan is over there. Go meet him. Clearly that's who you're here for. Not me or my sister, okay?”

He just stared at me for a second then a smile dragged his lips upwards. He was amused. How annoying.

“Alana. You're lucky I like you. No one talks to me like that.” I folded my arms and glared at him.

“Sure.” I replied, then he shook his head, turned around and left to meet Ryan with his men.

When I looked at my sister, she had still not recovered from the shock.

“What?” I asked, trying too hard to hold in my laughter.

“You know him? I don't even know who you are anymore. And the way you talk to him? Are you crazy?” She legit looked surprised.

“It's a long story, don't worry. He's a family friend and I promise he won't hurt you. Don't be scared of him.”

“Okay. I'm tired and my feet hurt. I'm ready to leave if you don't mind.”

“Yeah, sure. Let me tell Ryan. Let me also get your car ready so you can leave early with Gerald.”

I left her and went to do just that, impressed that she actually stayed this long without acting up. She was doing so good already. I got their car ready and they left.

Ryan was still talking with Vinta and watching me like a creep. Well I only knew that because I was also watching him like a creep.

Tons of people said hi to me and I was getting exhausted, so thankfully, Ryan came to get me. Vinta had just left after their lengthy conversation and a huge number of guests had already left.

“I don't even care if he's old. I don't want him around you anymore.” That was the first thing he said when he got to me. He's so unserious.

‘Hello to you too babe.’ I rolled my eyes at him.

“Don't be jealous of an old man. I don't even want him.”

“Yeah but he wants you.”

“He also wants my sister. He's sick, ignore him.”

“Fine.” We reached the car and got in.

“By the way, you invited Vinta? Why would you do that? Now you can see that it's all your fault that he wants me.” I teased and clearly he didn't find it funny.

“He's a prick, but he was friends with my father. I invited him to get his reaction as I announced the fact that I was changing the company's name to my mom's. The satisfaction it would've given me if only he came early to witness it. Now I'm pretty sure he wasn't even aware of that little fact, and now he's gone. Well, I'll get back at him some other time.”

I just shook my head and smiled, amused. Now they were friends acting like enemies, and I wasn't mad at it at all.

“That was a really good thing you did. Your mom would be so proud of you.” I placed his hands on mine again and squeezed.

“Yeah, yeah, I know.”
