Chap.117*Like A Free Bird*
Desmond's POV:
After everything we have been through for so long, Ayleen had finally accepted the reality and I couldn't be happier than that.
I have decided a vacation for us, traveling to somewhere, where we could spend some quality time together and even create new memories, the memories that weren't bruised.
It was hard to leave for the office since I craved to stay behind with Ayleen and plan our vacation but this office work needed me as well.
I reached the office and was quickly swamped with employees and their complaints, files, and contracts, it was hard to work with so much stress in my head.
As I was busy assisting the employees, my cellphone notified me of a suspicious activity back in the mansion. My heart instantly missed a beat because I knew where she might be.
"Excuse me, Mr. Vin will discuss the details." I got up on my feet and before unlocking my phone's screen, I had already walked towards the exit to get in my car and rush before it's too late.
Once I was in the car, I told the driver to speed up whilst I saw her on the camera.
She was going through my closet, the key, that I should have hidden well, was now in her hands.
I panicked even more when she stormed inside the forbidden bedroom, I could see her sobbing inside.
"No!" I shook my head in disbelief, how could I let it happen? Why did I even trust her? I should have known that she was sincere in accepting me, our reality.
That was it, my mind snapped when I saw her leaving the house with my son.
"My son!" I gritted my teeth, "Speed up!" I announced, clenching the jaw.
Ayleen's POV:
I was on the road, running like a crazy person with my son, who was now crying loudly.
"Shhhh!" I kept hushing him in fear, I had not question it before but now I was worried about the desolation of the mansion.
I knew I need to at least walk on foot for hours to be able to reach the civilization, but I was all ready to do so.
Once I was in the woods, the memory of seeing Desmond digging graves hit me but I kept my mind straight and didn't stop.
I was tired at this point, the storm has started to set in and neither I nor my baby was wearing any warm clothes. I wished I had thought through this whole thing, but I was so desperate to get away from Desmond that I didn't realize where would I even head to?
"Ah!" I halted upon my steps to catch my breath and placed Roy on the grass, resting his back against the tree.
"It's going to rain soon," I mumbled in heavy breaths to Roy, who had his nose turning red along with cheeks, "Don't worry, mommy will find a way to keep you warm." a tear rolled down my rough cheek as the cold began to strike my skin like several needles.
"I just need to find a way to get away from him safel---," I kept on babbling when my ears picked up a noise, making my body go numb the very instant I heard it.
"AYLEEN!"
The familiar voice was coming from the side where I was headed to previously to hit the road.
"Cierra?" no way I couldn't recognize her voice.
I straightened up my back and stared at the person running in my direction in a big brown sweater and a man behind her.
Cierra and Garret!
They came to save me!
"OH MY GOD!" I shouted, running in her direction and embracing her tightly.
"Ayleen!" we were both out of breath. I can't believe I have met my sister after so long. I saw her baby bump and instant tears streamed down my eyes.
It was a happy moment for us, our reunion after being through so much.
"You okay?" and then Garret stepped forward, his eyes staring at me with a smile of guilt on his lips.
"Ayleen?" my sister must have noticed the silence in me that she gently shook my arm to grab my attention.
"Are you okay?" she hugged me again and tears streamed down my eyes.
"Benjamin is dead," I said, her eyes wailed as she realized how much pain I've endured all this time.
"He deserved death for all the horrible things he did to others." my sister knew what she was talking about, she didn't carry any sympathy for him.
"Oh my God! Garret see my nephew." she hurried near him and picked him up in her arms like he weighs nothing.
Garret!
I still blamed him for all the mess I've been through, everything. His face was giving me anxiety but I didn't show much resentment because I needed him to finally end all this suffering, this pain.
"We don't have much time; your husband will come back soon." Garret tried to speak to me but I ignored him once again, focusing on my sister only.
"We have a car parked on the road, let's go before Desmond comes." Cierra was holding Roy closer to her body to keep him warm whilst I bobbed my head and waited for Garret to turn around and take us to his car. Cierra and I walked behind him while he rushed before us to drive the car even near us.
Cierra sat in the back with Roy while I was in the passenger seat with Garret in the driver's seat. Once we were inside the car, I felt safe. I knew we were going to be fine now.
"We should go to the cops first," Cierra uttered, warming up Roy. The weather had hit its peak now and it started raining cats and dogs very quickly too.
Garret started the car and we hit the road. Thankfully, Roy's cries had subsided, he was completely silent like he wasn't even with us. The fact that he had found peace with Cierra melted my heart.
It was truly an amazing feeling that I was finally back with my family, my sisters, away from all the troubles and problems.
Now that I was safe, I noticed the diary in my lap that I've stolen from that room.
I stared at it for a few moments before deciding to open it and read it.
