Chap.116*Road To Freedom*

I slept in his arms after we did it. I know it was bad but I wanted his scent to remain with me.

That didn't mean I wasn't planning on leaving him, I did have a plan but I had to earn his trust so that when he leaves for work, I'm free to get my son and one other thing before I leave.

Ava's diary!

I remember Desmond mentioning this diary and I was intrigued to read it. I wished to know how he turned to be like this person, I wanted to know if Ava was a victim.

I was more scared about my son's safety, what if this is how he started with Ava? Loving her unconditionally and then getting rid of her? What if he falls for someone new, would he kill me and my son too?

That morning was awkward as we both pretended like the past few days never happened. We never spoke about that incident the entire morning; he was happy that I have taken him back. He so badly wanted us to be together that he didn't even suspect I was making plans of running away from him in my mind.

"I will try to get back home early today, we will make all the plans together for a getaway," Desmond mumbled, kissing his son on the forehead goodbye.

"Sure," I smiled back, hugging Roy while Desmond kept playing with him, all ready for the office.

"You can choose the location; it is your gift so I want you to be the one to select a location." He stated very enthusiastically, his eyes watching my face with unconditional love.

"I'll wait for you." I didn't know how else to respond because I knew the moment he leaves for the office, I'm running out of the house after I steal that diary, those files, or whatever he was referring to.

After a few minutes of Desmond discussing some stuff, that I didn't even pay attention to, he left for his work.

I didn't hurry up because I wanted to make sure he was far away when I start making a plan. He hadn't returned me my phone back, maybe he forgot but I didn't ask for it either because I wasn't taking any risk.

Once I knew he wasn't coming back, I sat Roy on the floor and rushed upstairs, in search of that key.

The key I have always needed to open this cursed door.

I looked in the same closet for that key, and it was ironic how he had told me that Ava keeps him out of that room yet the key was resting unguarded which he could use to get that diary.

I found the key and rushed downstairs to open the door. The nostalgia of being in the same situation as last time was hitting me hard, the only difference was that last time it was Ava and now Desmond that I feared to be caught by.

I unlocked the door and stood in the doorway, my eyes picking up the sight of the darkroom that had now lighted up partially.

My heart skipped a beat at what my eyes were perceiving. There was a weird feeling that I was getting from this room, it felt like I had been here before.

No!

I shook my head and quickly rushed inside. I thought it was their old study room, but it was a bedroom with hardly any furniture in it.

The only big bed seemed like had not been used for so long. My heart was skipping beats after beats, I had begun to shiver.

There was something weird about this room like something bad had happened here.

"The bathroom!" my dry lips uttered while I stared at the bathroom with my eyes filled with tears.

I don't why that bathroom stood out so much to me, but I saw the keyhole of the bathroom and my knees started feeling weak.

The mansion had a lock on every single door, I wished there were no locks, I wished the locks were never invented.

"I ha---," I felt tears streaming down my eyes and my lips urging to murmur those words, but I forced myself into silence.

"No! Get yourself together," I muttered under my breath, biting my lower lip, "I have come this far after so much trouble, I'm not breaking down now. I've to do this, I've to get away from everything." I gulped and held myself together, hyping myself up for the freedom I would achieve after I run away from here.

"I can do this," I blocked all the thoughts that were consuming my head, all the worries that were trying to make their way in my head.

Once I had gained my strength back, I rushed towards the bed and lifted up the mattress just a little, and there it was.

A Diary that has File written over it.

"I can leave now," I uttered, scanning the diary very quickly and then exiting the room. The goosebumps I was feeling inside that room were gone now that I had left that room.

"Let's go, Roy." I have only approached him when I noticed something, as I lifted my face up, my eyes noticed the camera.

"Shi*" my eyes widened, swiftly looking around and seeing multiple cameras watching me.

He must have seen us; he will be on his way back home by now.

The thought itself scared the life out of me. There was only one way left now, I have to make a run.

I grabbed Roy in my arms and sprinted towards the exit, it has to end today. I was not going to stay behind with that monster. I could hear Roy whimpering slowly, he was scared of how panicked I was and truly speaking, even I was afraid of getting caught because I knew, this time, he won’t trust me, he will straight up take revenge from me.
