Chapter 35 Power Outage

Chapter 35 Power Outage

Dorian had heard about the Fox family's conflicts too. As an employee, he couldn't really comment on his employer's family matters, but he saw clearly what happened with Ivy - she was taken away by the police.

They said the necklace was quite valuable. Ivy really got herself into trouble this time.

Dorian didn't dare take that risk. What if he ended up in jail too?

Seeming to sense his concern, Julie said, "Don't worry, you're different from Ivy. I won't just stand by and watch something happen to you. Even if Cordelia discovers you and the police take you away, I'll find a way to get you out."

"I won't let you do this for nothing."

Julie smiled and said, "One million dollars. As long as you succeed, I'll pay you one million dollars. How does that sound?"

One million dollars!

Dorian was tempted.

He asked hesitantly, "I just need to get the necklace back?"

Julie nodded, "Yes, just get the necklace back."

After saying this, she hesitated. When Ivy planted the necklace, she thought it was foolproof, but who knew things would go wrong from the start - Cordelia discovered it immediately.

No, this time she needed a complete plan.

Thinking this, Julie said, "There might be hidden surveillance in her room. Make sure you disguise yourself well when you go, don't get recognized."

"Okay."

Dorian nodded casually, though he didn't think much of it. He'd seen Cordelia - very beautiful, very charming. Taking something from her would be easy.

But Dorian still had his own concerns. "What about Mr. Fox and Mrs. Fox? If they find out, will they call the police?"

Nobody wanted the reputation of being a thief. Dorian wanted to eliminate all possibilities.

"Don't worry about my parents. Nothing will happen. You just need to be careful of Cordelia."

At this point, Julie couldn't help but add a reminder, "Cordelia might know some fighting techniques. Last time she killed a Rottweiler at the living room entrance."

This was Julie's humiliation. If possible, she really didn't want to mention it, but for the sake of being thorough, Julie had to warn Dorian.

"Cordelia really killed that Rottweiler?"

Dorian had heard about that incident, but he didn't believe it. So he was skeptical about Cordelia killing Jack's Rottweiler.

In his view, even if Cordelia knew some fighting techniques, she could barely defend herself at best.

Besides, she was just a woman. How capable could she be?

Seeing Dorian's attitude, Julie was satisfied, but still added a few more warnings.

"If you're discovered, you can't give me up. As long as you keep quiet, I won't short you a penny. But if you give me up, I'm not afraid - my parents won't let me go to jail. But you won't get a single cent."

"Ms. Fox, don't worry. Take money, do the job, keep quiet - I understand that principle."

Dorian patted his chest and said, "If I really get discovered, I'll just say I heard Cordelia had a priceless piece of jewelry, so I wanted to check it out myself. I won't implicate you, Ms. Fox."

With this assurance, Julie finally felt at ease.

"Good. When you're ready, let me know. I'll have someone cut the power to the villa to help you out."

"Okay."

With Julie's help, Dorian felt even more confident this task would be a piece of cake.

After giving instructions, Julie returned to her room.

Time passed bit by bit. Julie sat restlessly in her room, thinking back over the time since Cordelia returned - she had been repeatedly defeated by Cordelia.

Even worse was last time when she released Jack's Rottweiler - such a large vicious dog, yet it died at Cordelia's hands.

It didn't make sense. How had Cordelia become so capable?

Julie also remembered Ryan's attitude toward Cordelia at dinner last time. The more she thought about it, the more she felt there was something fishy between those two.

No, she couldn't let Cordelia stay, or at least not in Harborview City!

Thinking this, Julie's eyes filled with vicious malice. "Cordelia, you can't blame me for this. You can only blame yourself. You were already kidnapped last time, so why did you have to come back? Since you came back, you're asking for death. You can't blame anyone else!"

With this thought, Julie's gaze grew even colder.

Soon, the clock struck twelve. Just after midnight, Julie's phone rang once, then was quickly hung up.

This was the signal she and Dorian had agreed upon, indicating he was ready.

Dorian had changed into all black clothes, wearing a black baseball cap. Standing in the night, he blended into the darkness, completely invisible.

Julie calmly picked up her phone and sent out a message.

With a soft sound, the entire room instantly went dark. In the deep night, a cold smile appeared on Julie's face.

The instant the lights went out, Cordelia reflexively sprang up from the bed.

In the darkness, she moved as nimbly as a leopard, her left hand in a defensive position while her right hand held a knife in an attacking stance.

The night was deep and silent. After a moment, Cordelia realized - this was The Fox Villa, not the Empire of Upheaval.

But still, all her muscles remained tense. The torment she endured during those years in the Empire of Upheaval flashed through her mind like movie scenes.

A sharp pain shot through her head. She clutched her head tightly and curled up on the bed.

After a long while, she slowly groped toward her phone. Just as her hand touched it, suddenly she whipped her head around and stared intently at the window.

Outside the window, the night was pitch black and silent. But Cordelia clearly heard rustling sounds coming from below the window.

Her room was on the third floor. The Fox Villa had strict security and surveillance equipment - there shouldn't be anyone outside her window.

But her instincts wouldn't be wrong. Someone was there, slowly climbing, gradually approaching her window.

Cordelia's heart sank. She was certain this person was coming for her. Who wanted to harm her? It couldn't be Jack - he was still hoping to get her shares.

That left only Marigold and Julie.

Thinking this, Cordelia weighed the knife in her hand and bared her teeth in a chilling smile.
