Chapter 34 Help Me Steal Something
Chapter 34 Help Me Steal Something
Cordelia nodded, "Yeah, and you guys forced me into this!"
As Cordelia spoke, she coldly looked around at everyone. "Don't think I don't know what really happened today. I'm not stupid. I can see clearly whether Ivy was put up to this or not. You should accept defeat gracefully. Since you refuse to admit you lost, you'll have to compensate me. I said if you wanted peace, you'd better behave yourselves, but none of you took my words to heart. In that case, I don't mind teaching you a lesson."
Cordelia pointed at the surveillance camera overhead. "You don't think I only have one camera in my room, do you? I've already captured clear footage of Julie and Mom ganging up on me just now. So think it over - what's more important, the compensation or your reputation?"
After finishing, Cordelia turned and headed upstairs. "If you still want the necklace, I'll return it tomorrow morning. But you'd better think carefully about whether you can handle being criticized by countless netizens online."
After dropping that line, Cordelia turned and went back to her room.
"My head is spinning so badly. Quick, get me my medicine!"
This time Marigold wasn't faking it - she was genuinely upset.
The living room descended into chaos again. After Marigold took her medicine, she felt somewhat better.
Marigold looked up at Jack. "Honey, aren't you going to do something? That's worth hundreds of millions of dollars!"
Marigold's heart ached so much it trembled. The necklace wasn't just valuable - it had been passed down through the family generations until it reached Marigold's hands. And now she couldn't even keep the necklace. Wasn't this humiliating?
After all this commotion, Jack wasn't doing much better either. He sat down heavily on the sofa and pointed at Marigold's nose angrily. "I think you brought this on yourself. Tell me, why did you have to pull this stunt!"
"Now look what happened - you got nothing out of it. Not only did you fail to control Cordelia, but you also lost everything to her. You deserve this!"
Marigold burst into tears at the scolding. Hearing her cry made Jack even more irritated. "Cry, cry, cry - all you do is cry! Do you think wailing will get the stuff back?"
"You knew perfectly well that Cordelia isn't someone to mess with now, but you just had to provoke her. I think you've lost your mind!"
Seeing Marigold getting scolded continuously, Julie couldn't help but speak up. "Dad, don't blame Mom. I'm the one who did this."
"You?" Jack glared at her. "Idiot!"
"Dad, look at how arrogant Cordelia has become. If this continues, she'll be running the Fox family instead of us!"
Julie's words struck right at Jack's heart.
This was exactly what he'd been most worried about. Cordelia was already the company's largest shareholder. If she decided to get involved in running the company, there would be no way to stop her.
Fortunately, she didn't seem to have that plan yet, which gave Jack some room to maneuver.
But the current situation was that Cordelia was like a bomb that could explode at any moment. To eliminate this threat, he needed to get all the shares back from her.
Seeing that she'd gotten through to Jack, Julie sobbed, "Dad, Mom, don't be angry. The necklace was lost on my watch, and I'll definitely get it back."
Hearing this, Marigold's heart jumped. "Julie, how are you planning to get it back? You're not going to confront her first thing tomorrow morning, are you?"
Marigold vividly remembered what happened at the police station last time. She didn't want to become a monkey in a circus for people to gossip about again.
Julie knew Marigold cared most about her reputation and quickly said, "Mom, don't worry, I won't confront her."
"Then how are you going to get it back?"
Seeing Marigold wanted to keep asking, Julie said impatiently, "Mom, just don't worry about it. I'll find a way to get it back. Just wait for good news."
How could she not worry? Since Cordelia came back this time, she'd been too strong. Several of them couldn't gain any advantage against her alone.
At the mention of Cordelia, Marigold felt nervous.
"Julie, don't force it. If it doesn't work, I'll handle it myself."
It would work - how could it not! Even if it didn't, she had to try!
Julie glanced discreetly up at Cordelia's bedroom. The door was tightly closed. A bit later, Cordelia should be asleep.
Once she was asleep, that would be her chance to act.
With this thought, she urged them, "Dad, Mom, you've had a long day. Go to sleep. Leave this to me - you can rest assured."
Rest assured? How could Jack rest assured!
He frowned at Julie. "Julie, don't be stubborn. If it doesn't work, I'll think of another way."
"No need, really no need, Dad."
Julie said as she pushed them upstairs to rest.
After they left, Julie tiptoed upstairs and carefully pressed her ear against Cordelia's door, listening intently for a while. Confirming there was no sound from inside, she went back downstairs.
Downstairs, she went straight to the surveillance room and called for the head of security, Dorian Reid.
"Ms. Fox, you wanted to see me?"
Dorian had a single eyelid and thin lips with a fierce look. Combined with his tall and muscular build, his black security uniform showed the outline of bulging muscles on his arms.
Julie had picked Dorian out from all the security guards at first sight, and it turned out her judgment was good. Dorian was not only good-looking but also a skilled fighter. After joining the Fox family, he became head of security.
Seeing him, Julie got straight to the point. "Dorian, I need you to help me with something."
Dorian stood with his hands clasped in front of him respectfully. "Ms. Fox, please go ahead."
A malicious smile appeared on Julie's lips as she said, "I need you to sneak into Cordelia's bedroom tonight and steal something for me."
Dorian, who had been keeping his head lowered, was shocked by these words and suddenly looked up. Seeing that Julie's expression showed she wasn't joking, he frowned. "Going into Cordelia's room to steal something - that doesn't seem right, does it?"
"What's not right about it? This is my home. You must have heard about what happened this afternoon, right? Ivy stole Mom's necklace and put it in Cordelia's room to help me get back at her. After the truth came out, Cordelia just took the necklace and won't give it back."
At this point, the fury in Julie's eyes was practically blazing.
She looked at Dorian. "Dorian, you're the only person I can think of. You have to help me!"
