Chapter 33 The Necklace Belongs to Me Now
Chapter 33 The Necklace Belongs to Me Now
The maids stood in a line. Milan glanced at them and asked, "Everyone's here?"
"Yes, everyone's here."
Milan looked at the maids in the video again and directly eliminated those whose body types were too different.
Soon only three maids remained in the huge living room. Milan asked for a separate room, and after Jack agreed, he took them inside.
Before long, Milan came out with Ivy and said to everyone, "This is the person from the video."
Seeing Ivy identified so quickly, Julie instantly became so nervous her palms were sweating. She was the first to rush up to Ivy and said sternly, "Ivy, the Fox family has treated you well. Why would you do this!"
Ivy's eyes showed innocence and panic. How could there be surveillance video? Didn't Julie say she had destroyed the surveillance inside the building?
She had just followed Julie's instructions to hide the jewelry in Cordelia's room to get a large payment. She did the job and took the money, but why wasn't this going the way she thought it would?
"I..."
Ivy had just said one word when Julie cut her off.
"The facts are right in front of you. Even if you don't admit it, you have to admit it. Is it because Cordelia scolded you when she first came back, so you stole the necklace and put it in her room?"
"That's right, Ivy. I remember Julie treated you well. How could you do something like this and hurt her feelings?"
Marigold's headache was suddenly gone. She swayed over to Ivy and looked at her, saying, "If I remember correctly, your brother is disabled, your mother is seriously ill, and your whole family depends on your salary to survive, right?"
Hearing this, Ivy's eyes widened instantly, looking at Marigold with terror. "Mrs. Fox."
"Alright, you did this, but our family are reasonable people, so naturally we won't hold it against you. After you go to prison, I'll have someone take care of your family."
Marigold's words were both a threat and a comfort to Ivy. This was Milan's first time seeing someone threaten a suspect right in front of him, but this matter was ultimately an internal Fox family affair.
In the power struggles of wealthy families, it's about who has better tactics and who's more ruthless. Sometimes turning a blind eye is better.
Even if he could intervene, Milan didn't plan to get involved, because one wrong move could offend someone he couldn't afford to offend.
Milan could stand by and watch, but Cordelia couldn't.
Cordelia didn't expect Marigold to be so shameless. She was still right here, and they had already started threatening Ivy.
"Alright, that's enough."
Seeing Ivy's face getting paler, Cordelia finally couldn't take it anymore. She stood up and said coldly, "You did it, and you can't escape that. But you don't have the guts to steal this jewelry, and besides, my mom guards this thing very strictly. Without someone behind you giving instructions, an ordinary person wouldn't be able to get near it. Just tell us who gave it to you."
Seeing Cordelia directly point out that someone was behind her, Ivy trembled all over.
Only now did Jack realize something was wrong. Could this Ivy have been sent by Marigold?
Thinking about what Marigold had just said, Jack screamed internally, "We're done for. Our whole group has fallen into Cordelia's trap."
To harm her own family, Cordelia would stop at nothing. She must have known who was behind it all along, right?
She must have known, otherwise she wouldn't have been so sure about making that video!
Cordelia never does anything that puts herself at a disadvantage!
Thinking this, Jack regretted it. He'd been too hasty. He should have asked Marigold first. What now? The shares absolutely couldn't fall into Cordelia's hands.
With this in mind, Jack looked at Ivy, whose face was pale and body trembling, and said, "Marigold was right. Your crime is serious. You need to think about your family."
Jack's words were like the last straw on Ivy's back. She instantly broke down.
"I did it, I did it all myself. Julie is usually very good to us. I just couldn't stand how Cordelia treated Julie, so I deliberately took the thing to frame Cordelia. I did all this by myself, no one instructed me."
As her words fell, the three Fox family members present all breathed a sigh of relief.
It's fine now. The shares are safe.
Cordelia frowned. If she'd known Ivy would crack so easily, she should have stopped Marigold earlier. Unfortunately, it seemed too late now.
But her gaze fell on the jewelry in her hand, and a smile appeared at the corner of her mouth. Tonight wasn't completely without gains.
Ivy insisted the deed was her own doing and had nothing to do with anyone else. With solid evidence, Milan took her away on the spot.
After Ivy left, everyone except Cordelia visibly relaxed.
"Look at this mess."
Marigold spoke up, "Looks like we need to better supervise the servants from now on."
She looked at Willie and said, "Go discipline these people properly."
"Yes, Mrs. Fox."
After Willie left, Marigold looked at Cordelia with a smile. "Cordelia, now that the misunderstanding is cleared up, give me back the necklace?"
"Sorry, I probably can't return it."
As soon as Cordelia said this, everyone's faces changed. "What do you mean? That necklace wasn't given to you. Are you trying to keep it?"
"That's harsh. What do you mean 'keep it'? This is reasonable compensation for emotional distress!"
Cordelia said as she stuffed the necklace into her jacket's inner pocket, grinning. "Sorry, this necklace is mine now."
"On what grounds? That's Mom's thing!"
Seeing her pocket the necklace, Julie's eyes turned red with anger.
"The thing is Mom's, that's right, but someone put it in my hands, and you all ganged up to frame me. The matter's been cleared up, but I can't just take this false accusation for nothing, right? So this thing is my compensation for emotional distress. If you're not happy about it, fine—I'll post the whole story online and let the internet judge."
Post it online again!
Has Cordelia gone crazy? Why does she post everything online? What about the Fox family's reputation?
Jack looked at Cordelia with a cold face. "Do you have to make this into a big deal?"
