Chapter 9

"Why are you so envious of Elijah?" I inquired, a mischievous grin playing on my lips.

"I can't help but notice the way you two interact. Is there something between you?" he asked, his curiosity evident.

"Do you think I would be interested in him?" I replied, a playful smile dancing on my face as I raised an eyebrow.

"Perhaps," he responded, his words carefully chosen.

Summoning my courage, I leaned in closer to him. However, my attention was momentarily diverted when I noticed his lips up close. They were a vibrant shade of red, almost feminine, yet undeniably strong. Oh, Clara, what thoughts are crossing your mind?

"I don't easily develop feelings for someone," I stated, a smile lingering on my lips as I locked eyes with him.

I held my breath, captivated by his gaze. I couldn't deny that his face was a sight to behold. After a brief moment, I turned away and began to walk away from him.

"Goodnight, Alpha," I said, a smile still adorning my face.

"Goodnight, my future Luna," he replied, his smile matching mine.

Suddenly, a fluttering sensation filled my stomach. I quickly shut the door and took a deep breath, attempting to quell the unfamiliar emotions. His words were sweet, a stark contrast to his true nature.

With my arms crossed, I stood by the window for a few minutes, gazing out at the wolves guarding the Castle.

The following morning, a knock on the door jolted me awake. I quickly got up and made my way to the door. As I opened it, I was greeted by Martha, who had brought me breakfast on a tray. She smiled at me and I returned the gesture.

"Come on in, Martha," I said, stepping aside to let her in.

"Thank you," she replied, bowing slightly.

After she left, I sat down at the small table and devoured the food hungrily. Once I was done, I headed to the bathroom for a quick shower. As I was getting dressed, there was another knock on the door. I wrapped a towel around my body and went to answer it, only to find Alpha Henrick standing there with a smile on his face.

"Hey, Alpha," I said, surprised to see him.

"Hey,Clara. Sorry to interrupt, but I think you should get dressed first," he said, averting his gaze from my towel-clad body.

"Why? Don't you like what you see?" I teased, lowering the towel slightly.

"Clara, please," he said, his tone serious.

I couldn't help but laugh at his reaction. Despite his tough exterior, he was still a gentleman at heart.

Once again, I felt that strange sensation in my stomach. It was like a swarm of butterflies fluttering around inside me. But I didn't want to dwell on it for too long, so I changed the subject by showing him the dress I was wearing.

"Do you think this is okay for me?" I asked.

"It's very beautiful, Clara," he replied with a smile, looking me up and down.

His innocent gaze made me wonder if there was more to him than meets the eye. Little did I know, he was hiding something devilish.

After I got dressed, he asked me out and we walked down the corridor to the library. He said he wanted to show me something, and I couldn't help but be curious about what it was. Was it a book or something else entirely?

When we arrived at the library, we walked to the end, and I was surprised when a wall suddenly opened. I looked at him, and he just smiled at me.

As we entered the secret room, I was amazed to see so much gold and pictures stuck to the wall. There was a picture of a muscular man who looked almost like him and a beautiful woman. He introduced them as his father and mother.

"You and your father look alike. You got his smile and the tip of his nose. But you got your eyes from your mother," I said with a smile.

He smiled at what I said and took a pearl necklace stuck to the wall.

"Since I was young, I have witnessed how much they love each other. Father did everything to protect my mother and his pack. But unfortunately, he lost his life," he said.

"This necklace is the symbol and memory of their love," he added.

As he told me his story, I could see the sadness in his eyes. I didn't know whether to feel sorry for him or be happy that he understood the pain of losing a parent.

"That's why I want to be like my father. I want to love and protect you until the last day of my life," he said with a smile, staring at me.

His gaze was intense, and I felt like I was going to melt under it. So, I turned my eyes to the many gold around us.

"I can't believe how much gold there is," I exclaimed in awe.

"Oh, those are just decorations," he replied with a grin.

"Decorations?!" I exclaimed, unable to hide my disbelief.

"Why are you so surprised?" he asked, genuinely curious.

"Nothing," I lied, not wanting to offend him.

I couldn't believe that gold was so commonplace to them that they used it as mere decorations. In the human world, it was a precious treasure that was highly valued. If I could bring some of this gold back with me, I would be an instant billionaire.

As I looked around the room, I realized that I was probably the richest woman in the world. Everywhere I looked, there were gold bars and the castle was adorned with the precious metal.

"Are you alright, Clara?" he asked, his voice gentle.

I snapped out of my thoughts and smiled at him. He returned the smile and we continued walking.

Suddenly, my eyes caught sight of a letter stuck in the wall. I approached it and touched it, but it was written in Greek and I couldn't understand it.

"I don't understand what this says," I complained.

"Alpha and Luna were united until their last breath," he said with a smile.

My throat tightened as her words sank in. Our eyes locked, and in that moment, she reached out and clasped my hand. The emotions swirling inside me were indescribable. It felt as if a surge of electricity coursed through my veins as our hands touched. Yet, I knew I shouldn't let myself feel this way, so I abruptly released her grip. The look of astonishment on his face was undeniable.
