Chapter 43 A war brewing

Chapter 43 A war brewing
Rave lounged on the branch of a massive black walnut tree, her posture relaxed but her smile was sharp.

She twirled a small dagger between her fingers, her eyes, fixed on Hazel.

“Sweet Hazel…”

She whispered.

She flicked her wrist and the dagger stabbed right into the tree trunk with a loud thunk.

“You're figuring that out now”?

She said and smiled even more.

Azrael appeared behind her, arms folded.
“Why are you here”?

Rave didn’t take her eyes off Hazel.

“You didn't expect me to stay in bed all day did you”?

She asked and he sighed.
She turned to him with a smile.

“I enjoy the sex Azrael, but this is most important”.

She said and he nodded.

“I know that, I just want to know why you are here? What are you trying to find”?

He asked and she turned back to Hazel.

“Whoever gave that seal to Kael made Hazel discover who I am”.

She said Azrael looked at her in shock.

“She knows your true identity”?

He asked.

“She's still speculating but it's only a matter of time now”.

She said and he sighed.

“I told you we have to be careful. We still don't know where the golden orb is”.

He said and she turned to him.

“Can you be quiet? I'm trying to focus here”.

She said and turned back, only to see Hazel standing by the balcony, looking directly at her.

“The fuck, how did she sense me”?

Rave said but she suddenly heard Hazel speak.

“I didn't sense you, I heard you… Cathy".

As soon as Rave heard that, she stood on the branch she was on and looked at Hazel with a look that screamed war.

She didn't look scared, she looked ready but she didn't say a word and after they both fiercely looked at each other from a distance for a while, Rave just got down from the tree and left.

“Your emotions were too loud, that's why she heard you”.

Azrael said but Rave shook her head.

“That's not it, she's getting stronger”.

Rave said and her eye glowed even more.

After Hazel noticed she was gone, her heart began beating so fast.

Seeing how Rave didn't deny being Cathy, it just proved that Dona was right.

“Why? Why would she do this”?

She thought to herself but of course, there was no one to give her an answer.

Her mind slowly drifted back to what the lady had said.

“No one is coming to help me, I need to find the answers myself, and I need to get the answers fast”.

She said, still looking towards the woods, on the tree where Rave has stayed.

After a while, she walked out of the room but she suddenly felt very dizzy. Just before she could fall, Kael rushed towards her and caught her.

“Hazel”.

He said quietly, grabbing her arm.

“You’re shaking”.

He said but she forced a smile.

“I’m fine”.

“You’re not”.

His tone left no space for negotiation.

Hazel looked away, frustrated with herself.
She wasn't sure if she could tell Kael or not but she knew he was supposed to know.

“Kael, we need to talk”.

She said and he nodded.

“No matter what it is, we'll talk about it when you are well rested”.

He said and without letting her speak any further, he carried her and took her to their room.

Laying her on the bed, he kissed her forehead and was about to leave when she held his hand.

“Kael, we…”

“Later Hazel”.

He insisted and she couldn't understand why he was being so stubborn instead of listening to her.

Kael picked up a mirror by the side table and gave it to her to look at herself.

Hazel was surprised to see that she was not just bleeding from her eyes, but her eyes were still pure white. She was surprised because, her eyes only changes to white when she was having a vision but she wasn't having a vision right now.

“You don't look good at all right now”.

He said and she looked at him with her eyes opened wide.

“You're not Kael, are you”?

She asked but Kael looked at her confused.

“What are you talking about”?

He asked and tried to move closer but she moved back.

“Stay back”!

She yelled, surprising Kael.

“Hazel, calm down, what's wrong”?

He asked and Hazel looked past him as she saw the lady she had seen in her vision standing behind Kael with her hands folded against her chest.

“You said you weren't going to help me, so why are you here”?

She asked and Kael looked back, wondering who she was talking to.

“I never said I wasn't going to help, I said it's disappointing to see you wait to be spoon-fed. And see, just that and you already found out who Rave truly is”.

She said with a smile but Hazel closed her eyes and covered her ear.

“Get out, leave”!

She said and Kael sighed, thinking it was him.

“How could I possibly leave you alone when you look like this”?

He asked but Hazel said nothing.

“You're a lot more powerful than you think Hazel, but you're progressing way too slowly. You need to be fast, the fate of the entire world depends on you.

If Rave beats you to the golden orb, you'll never be able to save anyone, not even yourself”.

She said and just like that, the noise in Hazel's head vanished and she gradually raised her head, only to be welcomed by the worried eyes of Kael.

“What's going on, are you okay"?

He asked and she nodded.

“Mnn, I think I just need that rest”.

She said and he nodded, seeing that her eyes were back to normal. He tucked her in before leaving for his study.

When Hazel was sure he was gone, she sat up and began to think.

“Even if Rave is Cathy, she can't be acting alone. Who were those people with her in the abandoned house? And who gave her the idea to come after me and destroy the world”?

She thought but no answers were coming.

Closing her eyes, she went into a state of meditation, trying to ease and clear her mind so she could think straight and after a full hour, she opened her eyes slowly and her lips suddenly raised in a smile
