Chapter 13 A family not worth returning to
Hazel's relationship with her dad has always been an awful one.
Hazel's mom was her dad's fated mate, but he was already in love with Stella, her stepmother and only got married to Hazel's mom because their families were close and they insisted he did.
Hazel's mom died few years after birthing her, and her dad immediately brought in Stella and Raina.
Turns out her dad was unfaithful to her mom when she was still alive because the age difference between her and Raina was just a year.
Her dad always reminded her of how she was his misfortune and how much he never wanted her or anything related to her mother in the first place.
With the constant reminder of how much she was unwanted and how much of a monster she was, she grew very distant from her father and because of that, she never actually got to know much about her mother.
She wasn't sure of who her mom's family was and now, the only person she could get such informations from was her dad.
Kael was surprised to hear that. If anything, he knew Hazel always tried her possible best to stay as far away as possible from her father.
“Why do you want to go see him? He's only going to hurt you”.
Kael said but Hazel smiled and shook her head.
“He has long lost the ability to hurt me Kael, I don't really care about him anymore.
I'm only going there to get information about my mom.
She was a forbidden topic so I don't really know much about her. If I can't get him to tell me the truth willingly, I'll get it out of him by force”.
She said before turning to leave.
Kael was a bit worried, but he was sure she could handle whatever came her way.
Hazel soon got to her father's house. She stood still, looking at the gate that felt like a prison cell for so long.
Everyday she stayed in this house felt like torture and she always preferred spending time with Cathy and Kael than staying home.
Never could she have imagined that she would willingly come back here.
She was still looking at the gate when it suddenly opened up and she walked in.
Getting inside, her dad, stepmother, and Raina were all standing outside, almost as though they had been waiting for her.
“You dare show your face here after all these years”?
Her dad said so coldly, he looked just as disgusted as ever.
“Hello dad…”
Hazel said with a smile and then kept a straight face as she looked at her stepmother.
“Stella”.
She said with a very rude bow.
“Get out, you're not welcome here”.
He said and she exclaimed, looking away.
“Haa!! I wonder what exactly makes you think I've come to stay”.
She said but they stayed silent.
“If there's one thing I feel we have common, is the fact that we both can't stand each other”.
She said and her dad looked visibly angry now.
“You disgrace. How dare you talk to your father like…”
“Father”?
She asked in a mocking tone before she began laughing so hard.
“Oh please, spare yourself the dramatic words”.
She said and moved a bit closer to him.
“You stopped being my father a long time ago”.
She said and he moved close in attempts to slap her.
“Why you…”
He said with his hand raised, ready to hit her.
Hazel looked at him and his hand immediately stayed stuck in the air. No matter how hard he tried to move it, he just couldn't.
“What are you doing Hazel? I know you hate me and mom, but do you have to go this far”?
Raina suddenly spoke and Hazel scratched her ear as though Raina's words made her ear itch.
“Cut the act will you? I'm not even interested in anything that concerns you and I'm not here for you at all”.
She said and turned back to her dad.
“I'm here… for my mother”.
She said and her dad's eyes grew red in anger.
She soon freed his hand, letting it drop.
“How many times have I told you… her name is not allowed in this house”.
He said but she smiled.
“I don't care about your rules, I'm not under you anymore. Give me every information you have about her and I'll take my leave”.
She said and finally, her stepmother scoffed.
“This is a pretty bold step to take, don't you think”?
Stella said, causing Hazel to turn to her.
“You walk in after disappearing for years, declare you are no longer a part of this family, and still have the nerves to make demands”?
She asked and by this time, she was already very close to Hazel.
“Don't over do it Hazel. If you step on a dogs tails, it'll bite”.
She said and they both looked into each other's eyes intensely before Hazel smiled.
“Mnnn, I'm not a part of this crazy family anymore, but I have every right to know about my mother. It doesn't concern you”.
She said and Stella gave her a smirk.
Hazel ignored her look and turned back to her dad.
“You're going to give me all the information and items that concerns my mother”.
She said but her dad spat on the floor.
“I curse the blood that runs through you. If you ever come back here, I'll end your evil race myself”.
He said but his words didn't hurt her at all. She had outgrown their words and disgusted stares.
She was here for something and she was determined to get it.
She looked at her dad with no expression on her face before she suddenly began laughing so hard.
She laughed so much she had to hold her tummy as it hurt from too much laughter.
“Can you hear yourself”?
She asked before the smile on her face suddenly vanished, immediately replaced with anger.
“The blood that runs through me…”
She said as she moved closer to him.
“Is fucking yours”.
