Chapter 14 Careful who you trust

Chapter 14 Careful who you trust
Her word seemed to have caught him off guard as he went silent just looking at her with a pretty calmer gaze.

Raina noticed this and immediately rushed close to her dad.

“Haa, so much words coming from a girl who got pregnant and ran away".

As soon as her dad heard those words, his eyes opened wide and he looked at Hazel with his head tilted a bit to the side.

“You what? You got pregnant”?

He asked but Hazel looked so unbothered as she just rolled her eyes and nodded.

“Mnn, I have a son”.

She said and he laughed in shock. He actually wasn't expecting Hazel to get pregnant.

“Where is he? You're…”

Raina paused as she moved closer to Hazel with her hands folded.

“Bastard child”.

As soon as the words came out of her mouth, her face was met with a resounding slap. One that made her fall flat on the ground.

“Hazel”!!

Stella yelled but Hazel didn't look sorry at all.

“You really need to stop talking about my son”.

She said but because she was so distracted, she was also slapped by her dad.

“You worthless child”.

He said as Hazel placed her hand on her burning cheeks.

“You let a man impregnate you and you think you have the right to hit my daughter”!

He yelled and Dona who has been standing away and just watching everything rushed towards Hazel.

“Hazel, are you okay”?

She asked and Stella raised a brow.

“And who is this that smells like weakness”?

She asked but Dona said nothing and just kept looking at Hazel, making sure she was fine.

Hazel soon raised her head and nodded.

“I'm good, I was just taking unaware”.

She said and Dona laughed lightly.

“That was some strong slap”.

She said and they both laughed, mocking the man to his face.

“Are you insane”!

Raina yelled as she stood up from the floor.

“You let this… thing speak in front of dad like that”?

She asked and Hazel looked at her with a brow raised, causing her to cower behind her mom, not ready to receive another slap.

“Seems you've lost your mind Raina. Don't you dare insult my friend”.

She said.

“Or what”?

Stella immediately intervened.

“It should be you who should know when to stop crossing the line.
We've had enough of your disrespect Hazel, leave”.

She said and Hazel nodded as she began moving backwards. When she had moved about five steps backwards, she used her hand to move Dona behind her and closed her eyes.
As soon as she opened it, her eyes was shining red.

“I've spoken to you enough, give me every information about my mother”.

She said and all three of them were immediately hypnotized.

Her dad began walking straight to the basement and brought out a box that held whatever was left from her mother's belongings.

He handed it over to Hazel and spoke.

“Your mother was from a different pack. After we got married, she cut ties with her family and I haven't heard from them since then”.

He said.

Hazel collected the box and exclaimed “ouu”!! As the box was pretty heavy.

“This should help you”.

He said and Hazel smirked seeing her father so obedient.

“Well, I guess you should regret having a siren as a daughter”.

She said and walked out.

“Did you get it”?

Dona asked and Hazel nodded.

“Yep, let's get out of here”.

She said and soon, they left.

As soon as they left, all three came back to their senses and her dad rushed to the basement.

“No, no”!

He yelled angrily for reasons only he was aware of.

Hazel and Dona were on their way home when Cathy suddenly stood in front of their car with her hands stretched out causing the car to come to a quick halt.

Hazel smiled at her reckless friend before getting out of the car.

Dona looked at her as she walked out but she just remained in the car knowing fully well that she would only feel worse if she goes out too.

“You're very lucky my driver wasn't speeding”.

She said and Cathy smiled.

“Don't worry, your driver isn't strong enough to kill me”.

She said and Hazel smiled as she shook her head.

“What are you doing here”?

Hazel asked.

“Well, I went to Kael's place to see you and he told me you were here”.

She said and Hazel nodded.

“Why? Can't I see you when I feel like it? Are you too busy for me now”?

She asked and Hazel smiled.

“Stop being petty, there nothing keeping me busy so you have nothing to worry about”.

She said and Cathy nodded and looked towards the car.

“You went with her”?

She asked and Hazel looked at the car before turning back to her and nodding.

“Mnn, I did”.

She said and Cathy nodded, looking a bit unpleased.

“What is it”?

Hazel asked.

“Look, I know she's the one who has been with you for the past five years, but… I think you should be careful with her”.

She said, causing Hazel to look at her seriously.

“What are you talking about”?

She asked and Cathy sighed.

“You don't have to listen to me, but not everyone is always what they claim to be.
Be careful who you trust Hazel".

She said, putting Hazel in deep thoughts.

“Anyways, I gotta run. There's this guy I've been seeing… I have a date at his place”.

She said the last part in a bit of a whisper before bring out her tongue in a freaky way, making Hazel laugh a bit.

“You're still just as silly”.

She said.

“Please, a girl needs to satisfy whatever cravings she has”.

She said and Hazel nodded. They bidded each other goodbye and Cathy left.

After Cathy left, Hazel remained in the same position for a while.

Dona has been a good friend to her and she had grown to really care about her but for some reason, the words that Cathy said to her just couldn't stop ringing in her head.

She was still standing and thinking when she felt Dona's hand on her shoulder.

Instinctively, she held her hand and lifted her over her shoulder, hitting her hard on the floor.
