Chapter 116 Just a late bloomer

Chapter 116 Just a late bloomer
“So… is there anything else you're not telling me?”

Kalia thought really hard before she shook her head and both girl laughed over it before going to their class.

After school, Kalia tried to convince Carina to come with her to see the bunny but Carina didn't want to be in that house just yet and Kalia fully understood.

Even she wouldn't want to return if not for the cute little thing she had waiting for her in her room.

“I'll see you tomorrow.”

They waved and Carina walked in.

When he got it, she was her mom sitting quietly on the couch, biting her fingers like she always did when she was worried.

“Mummy?”

Dona's head spun up when she heard Carina's voice. She rushed towards her and pulled her to sit with her on the couch.

Carina smiled nervously.

“Is… everything okay?”

Dona looked at her and with a very serious expression, asked.

“Is Lucian your mate?”

Her eyes opened wide when she heard her mother's question.

“He is.”

She shook her head.

“Do not lie to me young lady!”

She didn't yell, but she wasn't so calm either.

“I knew it, it didn't make sense for you to be so sad over Derek Voss.”

Carina raised her head so fast.

“What? Derek?”

Her mom gave her a very angry side eye that made her shrink like a cold puppy.

“Why didn't you tell us?”

Carina looked at her mom, of course, she knew no excuse would be good enough right now but he just couldn't tell them back then.

“Were you trying to protect him?”

Carina swallowed. She couldn't deny it, maybe that was the reason, she wasn't sure.

“How can you want to protect someone who hurt you without thinking twice about it?

That's enough from today, he's banned from coming here.”

Carina shook her head immediately.

“Mom please, this is far more than just me and him.

There's uncle and aunty, and most importantly…”

Dona sighed and nodded.

“Of course, how can I possibly separate you from Kaila?”

Carina smiled gently and moved closer to her mom.

“Please just let it be, I have moved on, and I wouldn't want anyone to hold on to it when I'm not.”

Dona looked at Carina and it looked like her eyes were getting teary.

“When did you grow so big?”

Carina laughed softly.

“Quick, go upstairs and freshen up, I made all your favorites.”

Carina hugged her tightly.

“I love you mom.”

Dona sighed, pain evident in her tone.

“I love you too my princess.”

Kalia soon got home and the first face she met as soon as she opened the door was Ava's.

She moved back, seeing how creepy the smile on her face was.

She looked at her like she was looking at some crazy person before she spoke.

“What are you doing?”

“What does it look like? I'm welcoming you home.”

She moved closer and held Kalia's hand.

“Kalia, can I ride on your bike as well?

I really just want to get to know all of you.”

Kalia removed her hand from hers.

“That seat is reserved for only one person.”

After saying this, she walked in and saw Lucian. She rolled her eyes so hard as she let out an 'urgh!' with her head thrown back in annoyance.

“Everything in this house is giving me a migraine.”

She said loudly so they could hear her as she walked up the stairs.

When she got to her room, she was shocked to see a whole bunch of wood supplies and a few tools for building.

“You're back princess.”

She turned towards her door and saw her mom coming in with a few more things.

She dropped them and cleared the sweat dripping from her forehead.

“Phew, I wanted to get everything ready so we can start building as soon as you come.”

Kalia couldn't help but smile. She wasn't sure why her mom was suddenly being sweet, but she would be lying if she said she didn't like it.

After Kalia was done freshening up and eating, it was time to get busy.

They picked the spot for the bunny house and since her room was very big, it wouldn't even take much time.

To make things easier, Kalia measured and Hazel used her powers to cut the wood.

Their teamwork was strong, stronger than even they had imagined.

It was finally time to take a break.

“We might actually finish the structure today.”

Kalia nodded in agreement as they were almost done with the skeletal framework of the house.

They sat on the floor, snacking and taking juice.

Hazel shook her head at the first sip.

“Too sugary.”

Kalia smiled, never in her life did she think this would ever happen.

Now, she wondered

'Why did it take this long for us to get this far?'

She thought as she looked at her mom.

Then, she dropped the donut on the plate and looked at her mom.

“Mom?”

Hazel looked at her.

“Ready to get back to work?”

Kalia smiled and shook her head.

“Not yet, I… have a question.”

Just that statement made Hazel so happy.

“Go on, I'll answer anything.”

Kalia swallowed, she wasn't sure how he was going to ask but she knew he was going to anyways.

“If… if I never get powers, will you go back to the way you were?”

It was after she asked that her heart began beating fast, she wasn't sure she was ready for the answer she was going to receive.

Hazel went silent for a few minutes.

“Why? Does the fact that you haven't activated your powers, wolf, and found your mate bother you?”

Kalia nodded, unable to hide it.

“It's very normal Kalia.”

Kalia raised a brow.

“No it's not.”

Hazel smiled and moved closer.

“Yes, Lucian activated most of his powers from a very young age.

He takes after his father. But you… you take after me.”

Kalia listened to her mother very seriously.

“My powers did not come at once, some took months, others took several years.

In fact, I'm still discovering some of them. How cool is that? To wake up and realize you can do something else that most people can't do.”

Kalia couldn't deny it, her mom was indeed very cool.

“And do you want to know a secret?”

Kalia nodded immediately.

“Late bloomers like us… are always a lot stronger.”
