Chapter 112 Misunderstood
Chapter 112 Misunderstood
Hazel and Dona were on their way back.
“Do you think it is him? He didn't look like it at all.”
Hazel nodded in agreement.
“He looked rather confused than scared.”
Now, both knew Carina had been rejected but they weren't sure of who it was that had rejected her and why no one wanted to mention the person's name.
It was time for Carina and Kalia to get out of school.
They had put on their helmets, ready to get on Kalia's bike when they heard a loud honk.
Turning, they saw Lucian's car parked in front of the school.
“What is he doing here?”
Kalia said with obvious disgust in her voice.
“He's probably here to pick you up.”
Carina answered.
Just then, the door opened and Ava popped out, waving at Kalia while Lucia rolled down his window.
Carina could not say a word. She was not sure how she felt. Insulted, stupid, or angry.
“The fuck is wrong with this guy?”
Kalia said, obviously not scared to her own irritation.
She got on her bike and Carina got on too and without saying a word to either Lucian or Ava, they drove right past them.
Lucian had expected that look from Kalia but seeing Carina look at him with so much disgust made him feel some type of way.
A way he had never felt before.
He couldn't understand why besides, their bond had been broken, so why did he feel even worse than when the mate bond was still there?
Ava got back into the car, distracting him from his thoughts.
“Babe, I don't think your sister plans on accepting me anytime soon.”
Lucian gave her a kiss on the forehead.
“Don't worry, she'll come around.”
Kalia and Carina went to their usual getaway spot.
It was a small local restaurant a bit far into town where they would go and eat spicy food whenever something annoyed them.
They both believed the anger they felt would evaporate when the spiciness of the food did.
Kalia was usually the one who ate the most because she was usually the one who was angry but today, Carina ate a whole lot.
Too much that Kalia was beginning to get worried.
“Easy, that's pure pepper.”
Kalia said but Carina just kept eating and she was done.
“He brought her to the school? That is so inconsiderate, isn't it?”
She shook her head as she looked at Kalia for validation.
“It is, he's not worth it at all.”
Carina nodded sharply.
“I'm done, I know he's your brother but he looks very ugly to me now.”
Kalia laughed so hard, the milk in her hand almost spilled.
“We need to get going.
I want to be with you, but I'm really not in the mood to deal with my mo today.”
Carina nodded in understanding.
After Kalia dropped her off at home, she went home.
She had just packed her bike in the garage when Lucian walked towards her.
“What was the meaning of what you did in your school today?”
Kaila walked past him, she looked physically and mentally drained.
But then, she heard something crash.
Only for her to turn and her eyes opened wide when he noticed Lucian had crashed her power bike.
“My baby!!”
She yelled as she rushed over to the bike.
It wasn't ruined, but it had scratches.
“What is wrong with you?”
She yelled
“What is wrong with me? What is wrong with you should be the question.”
Kalia stood up, she tried to hold back her tears. If there was anything she hated, it was looking vulnerable in front of people.
“You want me to tell you what's wrong?”
He said nothing and just looked her right back in the eyes.
Hazel who heard the commotion walked out but she did not approach them. Instead, she hid by the corner, away from both their sights, listening to them.
“You've changed, that's what's wrong.
You're not the brother I used to know. The Lucian that I could run to for cover, the Lucia I could tell any and everything, he's gone.
And do you know when this all started? Ever since you met that Ava girl.”
“Kalia…”
He tried to stop her but she was already agitated.
“You expected me to leave Carina for you? Carina has been family to me more than you can ever be!
And what did you do to her? You rejected her without thinking twice!”
Hazel's hands immediately covered her mouth and her eyes opened wide when she heard what Kalia said.
He shook his head, trying not to raise his voice.
“That's because I already have a mate Kalia.”
“That's a lie!!”
She countered, causing his brow to crease.
“You just felt it would be easier to hurt her, just as it has always been so easy for you to hurt me too.”
Kalia smiled bitterly as she bent her head.
“Do you know how much guilt I've been carrying for the past few days?”
She raised her head and looked at him.
“I knew… I knew how much Carina liked you, so I couldn't bring myself to tell her you were seeing someone else.
I had wished her eighteenth birthday would be the end of her pain. I wished she found someone better, someone… worthy.
Do you know how painful it was to see my best friend shed tears over a guy like you? And I couldn't stop it, not even after I saw it coming.”
Hazel's heart was beating so fast as she listened to Kalia.
“Trust me Lucian, one day, you will regret rejecting Carina but when you do, it will be too late.”
She moved closer to him, her voice growing more silent than before.
“And I will make sure of it.”
Hazel rushed away, so they wouldn't see her.
Kalia walked past him, leaving him standing there, lost in his thoughts.
Kalia went to her room and cried again. Her heart felt so heavy.
Yes, she knew when Lucian started dating Ava. It was about three years ago when he first transformed.
She wanted to tell Carina, she really did, but she missed every chance she had and now, she has to live with that guilt.
She heard a knock on her door.
“Go away!”
