Chapter 11 A moment of confusion
As soon as Hazel got in, she closed the door and leaned on it for a very long time with her eyes closed.
She couldn't help but constantly recall Rave's face. She looked exactly like her but still so different.
Hazel could vividly see the evil in her eyes. She could tell how dangerous and vicious this Rave is just by looking at her. Her eyes, her smile, her movement, everything about her screamed evil.
She tried to hide her curiosity and nervousness as she knew nothing good ever comes from the bad guys seeing you scared. But it didn't change the fact that she was indeed worried.
“Hazel”?
She suddenly heard Kael call her name, causing her to open her eyes and look upstairs.
Kael walk towards her and when he got close enough, he looked at her trying to be sure she was alright.
“Couldn't sleep”?
He asked but she shook her head.
“I did sleep, I just woke up early”.
She said and he nodded before she walked past him and went to sit. Kael looked at her for a few seconds before he walked towards her, still unsure about how to act around her.
“Do you want to talk now”?
He asked, causing her to turn to look at him but she soon shook her head and stood up.
“I think I'll go back to my room. I'll talk to you later”.
She said before walking away.
Kael didn't try to stop her as he just kept watching her walk away.
He didn't want to rush her, he was sure she would talk to him when the time was right. She might not really like him right now, but this issue concerned the both of them.
As soon as Hazel got to her room, she laid quietly next to Lucian, trying not to wake him and Dona up.
But she suddenly heard Dona speak.
“Is something bothering you”?
Dona asked in a whisper and Hazel instantly turned to her.
“You're not asleep”?
She asked and Dona shook her head.
“I was awake when you walked out of the room”.
She said and Hazel nodded before standing up from the bed.
Dona also gently stood up, following her as the went to the balcony outside the window.
“What's wrong"?
Dona asked as soon as they were seated but Hazel had her head down as she kept pinching her palm.
“Hazel”.
Dona called, causing her to raise her head to look at her.
After a few seconds, Hazel sighed heavily and spoke.
“I shouldn't have come back Dona".
She said.
“What are you talking about? I thought…”
“Mnn, I wanted to come back and find the answers I was looking for. But now that I'm beginning to see some things, I can't help but feel like I'm not strong or ready enough to handle all of these things”.
She said.
“So what? Are you giving up”?
Dona asked, causing Hazel to look at her again in total silence before she shook her head.
“I don't want to… but I don't know how to explain all of these to Kael”.
She said and Dona looked at her, giving her a bit of a tease look which made her raise a brow.
“Hazel you… do you still have feeling for Kael"?
She asked and Hazel's eyes immediately opened wide.
“What! Hell no! Of course I don't".
She said ever so defensively and Dona laughed hard at her reaction.
“Stop Dona, I don't love him”.
She said and Dona nodded but she obviously didn't believe her.
“I'm being serious”.
She said and Dona tried to keep the jokes aside.
“So tell me, if you don't have feelings for him, why are you so worried about his feelings? Did you kill his parents”?
She asked and Hazel sighed heavily before she shook her head.
“I don't know”.
She said and Dona raised a brow suddenly confused.
“What do you mean”?
She asked.
“I didn't kill them, but I was the reason why they died”.
She said and looked at Dona, trying hard to hold back her tears.
“Do you want to tell me about it”?
Dona asked and Hazel exhaled heavily before she looked at Dona ever so seriously and began telling her everything she saw in her vision.
After she was done, Dona stayed silent for a very long time.
“You feel the same way right? It's my fault, isn't it”?
She asked but Dona shook her head.
“Don't be silly Hazel. If you judge yourself like this, you'll never be able to defeat her”.
She said
“So why are you so silent”?
Hazel asked and Dona looked at her, contemplating on wether she should say what was on her mind or not.
“Hazel… I have something to say to you, but you can't get mad at me”.
She said and Hazel nodded.
“So, I went to see Kael yesterday".
She said and Hazel raised a brow.
“Why”?
She asked.
“When I brought you into the village five years ago, I already knew you were a twin".
She said and Hazel's eyes opened in shock.
“What”?
She asked.
“Let me explain”.
Dona said, stretching out her hands and hoping Hazel wouldn't walk out without listening.
“It had better be a good explanation”.
Hazel said, looking a bit pissed.
“I wanted to speak to you about it, but any time I try to bring it up, something always happens. You either fall sick or Lucian does.
At first, I thought it was just a coincidence. But it became worse after Lucian was born. So I asked the moon and I found out it wasn't time for you to know yet.
According to the prophecy, no one is supposed to open your eyes to the truth but you”.
She explained and Hazel calmed down a bit.
“I'm telling you now because I know you've found out already.
Also…”
She paused, causing Hazel to look at her in expectation.
“Kael is not going to blame you for his parents death, so you shouldn't blame yourself either. If anything, you should be telling him already so you can work together to get justice.
To what I saw, that twin of yours is not going to be easy to handle”.
She said and Hazel was suddenly lost in thought.
“That man was right, it's not Kael or Lucian they are after…”
She then turned and looked at Dona.
“It's me”.
