Chapter 109 :A disappointment
Chapter 109 :A disappointment
Carina was silent for a long while she didn't want to give any sort of reaction but Kalia had been her best friend since they were born, she could definitely see through her bold facade.
Carina later let out a smile.
“That's even better.”
Kalia tilted her head, surprised to hear that.
“That way, I can get him out of my head even faster.”
Kalia sighed. She knew it would not be that easy for her to stop having feelings for him, especially since she had liked him since they were children. And having felt a mate bond with him even if it was just for a little while, getting rid of all of that would not be a walk in the park.
But she nodded, ever ready to support her friend.
“And I will be right here, supporting you all the way.”
Carina smiled and moved even closer to Kalia.
“Thank you… for not leaving me.”
Kalia shook her head.
“What are you talking about? We promised to love and be by each other's side till death, have you forgotten?”
Carina nodded with a smile.
“Now, you need to get rid of these puffy eyes before school tomorrow.
We will soon graduate, we can not spend our last days in school sulking over guys.”
Carina laughed hard at her words but nodded.
“Indeed, you're very right.
I can't be sulking over a guy who literally has someone else.”
Kalia folded her lips together, closed her eyes and nodded, proud of her friend's words.
“Exactly baby, he's not even worth it at all.”
Carina shook her head as she smiled at Kalia's words.
“You do know he is your brother right?”
“And you… are my other half, my best friend who was born on the same day as me.
Your only disqualification is your bad taste in men.”
Carina burst into laughter.
Dona who was by her door placed her hand on her chest when she heard her laugh.
She couldn't hear their conversation, but hearing Carina laugh was all she needed.
After what felt like forever, Kalia was finally able to pull Carina out of the room to eat.
When they got to the living room, Dona was walking out of the kitchen.
“Ohh hey girls.”
Dona was trying hard not to show her curiosity and worry.
Kalia bowed lightly.
“Hi aunty. We are hungry.”
Dona smiled at Kalia, everyone already knew she wasn't one to filter her words at all.
“You both sit at the dining table, I will get the servants to bring you something to eat.”
After they were done eating, it was time for Kalia to go back home.
“Thank you for dinner, Uncle. Thank you aunty, I'll be on my way now.”
Dona nodded and Carina went towards Kalia and held her hand.
“I'll see her off.”
Her parents nodded, giving their permission before both girls left for Kalia's car.
“Call me when you get home okay? And make sure you do not get Aunt Hazel angry again today.”
Kalia rolled her eyes at the last part.
“She always gets angry, but I'll call you.”
Carina kept waving until she couldn't see the car anymore.
Her hand fell and her smile reduced but she didn't look so downtrodden anymore.
Kalia placed her head by the window of the car, just looking forward at nothing in particular.
Before she left the house, she got into a rather unpleasant argument with her mother.
She didn't want to have to go back to that but of course, she had nowhere else to go.
When she got home, her plan was to go straight to her room and she was so close to achieving that as her parents, Lucian, and Ava were in the living room so engrossed in whatever it was that they were talking about.
She was already so close to the stairs when she heard someone call her name.
“Kalia? You're back.”
She paused in her steps and turned to her family, who were all now staring at her.
She gave a weird smile.
“I would like to go to my room.”
“Why?”
She turned to Ava who had spoken again and now he was actually wondering if she was dumb or just annoying.
Ava stood up and moved close to her.
“Come and sit with us, I am yet to get to know you.”
Kalia looked at her from her toes back to her head.
“Kalia!!”
Hazel cautioned when she noticed her condescending look.
“I have no interest in getting to know you though.”
“Kalia, can you stop that?”
Kalia turned to Lucian who was standing right now and without saying anything else, she turned and left for her room.
When she got to her room, she flung her shoulder bag on the bed and sat forcefully on it, causing it to bounce.
She turned to the door sharply, her voice showing her obvious anger.
“Who the hell does she think she is?”
She was so angry, yet she didn't know what to do with the anger.
Hazel slammed the door open without even knocking.
“Are you going to keep disappointing me like this?”
Kaila smiled with one side of her lips rising.
“When have I never disappointed you?”
Hazel placed her hands on her waist.
“Can you stop acting like the victim every time? This attitude is only going to make you a terrible person. Someone you probably never wished to be.”
Kalia stood up from the bed and turned to her mom.
“Then so be it.”
Hazel was expecting her to yell but no, her voice came out so gently it made her hands fall from her waist.
Hazel kept looking at her, she could not bring herself to say anything anymore.
“If I end up being a terrible person, no one is going to be surprised anyway.
Don't worry mom, I'll make sure I stay far far away from you so I don't tarnish your image.”
She moved closer to her mom and flashed her a very sad smile.
“Besides, you have your perfect son Lucian. You never need to worry about someone like me.”
She didn't wait for her mom to say anything else before she walked out of the room, leaving her mom there with the few words she had spewed.
