Chapter 108 The true mate

Chapter 108 The true mate
When Kalia woke up the next morning, Carina was gone.

She got worried and rushed downstairs still in the big gown that she hadn't gotten the opportunity to get out of.

When she got down, she saw her parents having breakfast with Lucian and Ava, his so-called mate.

Kalia tilted her head a bit, surprised to see that she was still here.

But that did not concern her. As soon as she saw the headmaid, she rushed to her without even greeting her parents.

“Have you seen Carina?”

The headmaid bowed.

“Yes, she left early this morning.”

Kalia sighed.

“Good morning to you too princess.”

She turned when she heard her dad speak.

She rushed towards him and hugged him from behind.

“Good morning, Daddy.”

She gave him a peck on the cheeks before standing properly and bowing to her mom.

“Morning, Mom.”

Hazel raised her head and looked at her while Kael simply laughed at their early morning banter.

Kalia then turned to Lucian and Ava but said nothing before walking away.

“Have breakfast with us!”

Kael yelled.

“I'm not hungry dad, I need to go see Carina.”

She replied as she rushed up the stairs.

Hazel turned to Kael and his smile vanished.

“You're spoiling her my love.”

He smiled and placed his hand on hers.

“Someone has to.”

Carina got home and Miguel was waiting for her in the living room. He did not sleep a wink all night.

“You're finally back.”

Carina, a bit startled jolted a bit when she heard his voice.

He dropped the pad in his hand and stood up.

Carina and Miguel shared a very amazing father-daughter relationship so he could definitely tell if something was wrong with his daughter.

“Have you been crying?”

She raised her head and looked at him, shocked that he noticed from a distance.

“Who is it? Who made you cry?”

Carina remained quiet, she didn't want to talk about it, if it was possible, she just wanted to forget all about it.

“Carina…”

“I… I just want to be alone dad.”

She stopped him before he could get any closer.
She didn't want to risk crying and blowing her cover so she bent her head and acted distant and insisted.

Miguel sighed he could tell something was wrong right from the moment he heard she had taken alcohol.

Carina had never been a child to do things just because she was curious.

But seeing as she didn't want to speak, he nodded. Having no intention of forcing her.

“Go to your room and get some rest.”

She bowed politely and went to her room.

Luckily, it was the weekend so there was no school.

Carina remained in her room all through the day. She didn't say a word to anyone and left her door locked for the most of it.

Dona was getting worried. She could already tell she was down before the party but this was a behavior she had never exhibited before.

She went to her room later in the evening and knocked.

“Carina, it's me, your mom. Please open the door, I just want to know that you are alright.”

She stood there for a while but Carina wasn't opening the door.

“Aunty,”

Dona turned when she heard someone call her in a very low whisper.

She turned and saw Kalia, the exact person she wanted to see.

She rushed to her and they went downstairs.

Kalia sat on one couch while Miguel and Dona sat on another.

“What is going on? Why is she like this?”

Dona was visibly worried but Kalia smiled.

“Forgive me aunty… uncle. But I am not in any position to tell you.

Just know that she will get over it and hopefully, she will tell you when she is ready.”

After saying this, she stood up.

“For now, please let me be the one to stay with her.”

Dona looked up at her.

“But how? She won't let anyone in.”

Kalia turned to Miguel and he sighed knowing exactly what she was asking for.

“Fine, you have my permission to go through her window.”

Dona turned to Miguel in shock before turning back to Kalia.

“What? No, that's dangerous.”

“It would be if they didn't do it almost every day.”

Kalia smiled and bowed her head before rushing out of the house.

She looked up at Carina's window and inhaled heavily, exhaling the same amount.

She rubbed her hands on the bare floor, collecting a little bit of dust before moving back a bit.

When she felt she was far enough, she steadied her legs before she jumped so high and landed right on top of Carina's balcony.

She let out a huge amount of air with a smile and knocked on Carina's window.

Shocked, Carina turned to the window and as soon as she saw Kalia, she stood up weakly to open it.

“You're here.”

Carina's weak voice came out as she went back to lie on her bed.

“You knew I would come.”

Carina scoffed.

“Tchh! I thought you'd be here since morning.”

Kalia bounced on the bed with a sigh.

“Mom gave me a little bit of punishment before letting me out.”

She turned to Carina who had the “I'm sorry” face on.

“We already know how she gets when it comes to me, it's nothing I'm not already used to.”

Carina knew that was a lie. Yes, Kalia and her mother didn't always see eye to eye and although Kalia made it look like she didn't care, Carina knew for a fact that she sometimes wished her mom would treat her differently.

Kalia looked back at her with a smile.

“How are you now? Still sulking over my loser brother?”

Carina smiled seeing as she was trying to brighten her mood.

“No, I'm trying to let all my feelings go before Monday.

I want to start a new week without thinking about him.”

Kalia nodded.

“Good.
But… there is something I think you should know.”

Carina raised a brow.

“What is it?”

Kalia sighed as the words felt heavy even for her.

“Ava, the girl my brother introduced as his mate…”

Carina nodded

“She's staying at our place for now.”
