Chapter 107 Wanna cuddle?

Chapter 107 Wanna cuddle?
Carina moved backwards, her heart was beating painfully as she watched Lucian introduce some woman as his mate.

“Carina?”

Kalia who was also there saw her and called her but she began retreating until she ran out of the hall entirely.

“Excuse me.”

Karina said before looking at Ava one last time and rushing out to find Carina.

She looked for a while before finally finding her in the garden.

Carina could not hold it in any longer, she was crying so much it was getting hard to breathe.

“You really like him that much that you would ruin our own eighteenth birthday?”

Carina turned to Kalia who had just spoken. Her breath hitched as she looked at her with so much tears pouring.

Kalia sighed before going to her and sitting beside her on the bench.

“He has found his mate Carina, it's time to let go.”

Carina shook her head.

“She… that girl is not his mate Kalia.”

Kalia raised a brow.

“I felt the mate bond, I felt it so strongly I couldn't help but look to see where it was coming from.

It was Lucian Kalia, I saw the mate string tie me and Lucian together.”

“Not anymore.”

They both turned to the cold voice that interrupted their conversation.

As soon as Carina saw him, she stood up and rushed towards him.

“Lucian, you feel it too…”

She tried to move close but he moved away like she was a plague.

Carina paused, watching him. Her tears seemed to have been exhausted at this point as only silent ones fell from the sides of her face.

Lucian did not even look at her. His eyes held no emotions as he placed his hands in his pockets.

“You're right, I felt the mate bond between us the moment I turned nineteen, but I hid it.

You were so clingy and suffocating, how could I possibly take someone like you to be my mate?”

“Lucian!!”

Kalia yelled as his words were unnecessarily hurtful.

He went silent for a while before looking her right in the eyes.

“This is for the best Carina.
I can never see you as anything more than a younger sister, and no one will ever have to know we were once mates.”

A painful smile escaped Carina's lips as she bent her head.

“So this was the reason?”

She raised her head and looked at him.

“You became so cold and distant because you found out I was your mate.
You started avoiding me, keeping your distance, and constantly helping me know my place, because you knew.”

Lucian nodded, he was not going to deny the obvious.

The tears falling from her eyes increased.

She did not want to cry, but she could not help it.

“Carina Miguel Vasin.”

“No Lucian stop, you can't do this to her!”

Kalia moved closer when she realized what he was trying to do.

Carina stayed silent, her head was bent as though she was simply waiting for it to be over.

“I, Lucian Kael Damon, hereby reject you as my mate.”

Everything went silent, even the flowers and trees paused.

Carina raised her head after a while and with the back of her palm, she wiped her tears and smiled.

“I, Carina Miguel Vasin, accept your rejection.”

Her tears fell again but she looked empty now.

Lucian sighed and tried to move closer but this time around, she was the one who moved away.

Lucian paused

“Don't hate me too much Carina, you'll find someone else.”

“Oh please shut up and just get the fuck out of here!!”

Kalia looked like she was the one who had just been rejected.

Lucian looked at Kalia and nodded before leaving.

As soon as he was gone, Carina fell to the ground but she was no longer wailing, the tears just kept coming.

Kalia ran towards her and began to comfort her.

“Forget about him Carina, he's not worth it.”

Kalia was not the best at comforting people, but she was a very sincere person.

After Carina had calmed down a bit, she turned to Kalia.

“Can I sleep in your room tonight? I don't want my parents to worry.”

Kalia nodded.

“Will you tell them?”

Carina shook her head.

“There is no point Kalia, he is not even my mate anymore.”

Kalia took Carina to her room and helped her get comfortable before leaving to go back to the party.

She didn't want to leave Carina alone but the girl insisted she went.

“Oh thank goodness Kalia is here, where is Carina?”

Dona asked and Hazel came forward too.

“I… she wanted to try alcohol but passed out after a glass.”

They all looked at her in shock.

“Kalia!! Why would you give her alcohol?”

Hazel looked a bit disappointed but Kalia was used to it by now.
She had already grown to be the bad egg of the family.

“It can not be helped, since Carina is not here, Kalia will cut the cake on behalf of both of them.”

Dona spoke and patted her on the back. Kalia smiled.

She personally liked Dona more than her mom. To her, Dona had always understood her more than anyone else.

They were about to go and cut the cake when Kalia noticed someone standing in the shadows.

She could swear she even saw wings, but as soon as light hit that corner, the person was gone.

The party was finally over and it was time for everyone to go home.

“I'll get Carina.”

Miguel spoke but Kalia quickly blocked his path.

“Uncle Miguel, can she stay with me for tonight? I promise to bring her back home safely tomorrow.”

Miguel was about to refuse but Dona held him back.

“It's their birthday, let them stay together.”

Miguel sighed. He was already angry at the fact that she missed most of the occasions.

“Fine.”

Kalia rushed back to her room, not waiting for her parents to scold her.

When she got to the door, she could hear silent sniffles and she knew Carina was still crying.

She sighed heavily. She definitely could not say she understood how he felt as she had never been one to even have a flimsy crush.

She opened the door and moved close to Carina who was trying hard to pretend she was asleep.

“Wanna cuddle?”

Carina slowly opened her eyes and nodded gently.

Although Kalia hated too much physical touch, she knew Carina needed it tonight.
