Chapter 104 : A double blessing

Chapter 104 : A double blessing
The entire Nightshade was filled with rejoicing over the war they had won. They celebrated for a full week, happy that the evil that had almost wiped away all of their existence was finally destroyed for good.

Hazel stood by her window, looking down and seeing people celebrating. Her hands were folded across her chest but her face did not show happiness at all.

Kael walked in but seeing as she did not even notice his coming in, he sighed and moved closer.

“Is there a reason why you have remained so silent?”

Hazel turned when she heard his voice. A very subtle smile escaped her lips as she shook her head.

“No reason, I'm just…”

She paused and turned back to the window, her face going back to its expressionless look.

“I don't know how to feel.”

Kael moved closer and hugged her from behind.

His hands held her tightly but gently as he rested his jaw on the nook of her neck.

Hazel sighed. She knew she was supposed to be happy, she had saved everyone and even restored the energy stolen from the werewolves back to them.

Nightshade had become the most respected and feared pack across the country and this was all thanks to her bravery but still, she did not feel proud of it.

She felt fulfilled, yes, but there was nothing to be happy about.

“What exactly is it that bothers you?”

Kael asked with his face still close to hers.

“I don't know how to be happy about this Kael.”

She paused and moved away, turning to look at him properly.

“Although she turned out to be extremely evil, she was my friend for so long.

And Raina, she's an orphan now. She hasn't said a word since her mother was killed.”

Her eyes moved past Kael as she walked away, moving towards the mirror.

“Did I really win?”

She looked at herself with so much doubt brooding inside her mind.

She did not know what to think anymore. It felt like she had put so much back in place yet so much more was lost.

“Hazel?”

He called and although she didn't turn, she looked at him through the mirror.

He moved closer and held her by the hand.

“I want to show you something.”

As soon as he said that, he began taking her out of the room.

She was curious as to where he was taking her, but they kept going anyway. They finally got outside the mansion and as soon as the members of the pack saw her, they began running towards her.

It took a whole bunch of guards to keep them at a respectable distance, making it impossible for them to pass through.

They were all yelling praising her, happy and grateful.

Hazel was still looking at them when she felt a tiny hand grip her cloth.

She looked down and saw a very small girl.

She smiled at her and crouched, as she wanted to see her even more clearly.

“Did you truly kill all the bad guys and, and, and, save the world?”

Her voice was so cute that Hazel couldn't help the smile that appeared on her face.

“What do you think?”

She asked the little girl and unexpectedly, the little girl jumped at her and hugged her tightly, using her tiny hands to hold her neck properly.

Hazel quickly got out of the shock and smiled brightly, hugging the little girl back.

“I think you're the best Luna in the whole wide world!”

Hazel almost began to cry. Never did she think the same pack who had isolated her for being different would ever come to accept her and praise her like this.

It felt like all the doubts and fears she had in her mind were finally gone and now, she could finally breathe.

She hugged the little girl even more as her heart calmed with ease.

Soon, the little girl went back to her mom. The mom looked at Hazel and bowed and Hazel returned the courtesy before turning back to the entire mass.

She was about to speak when she suddenly felt like throwing up.

Kael looked at her with worry evident on his face.

“Are you okay? What's…”

He was still speaking when she gagged again. Now, the whole crowd looked at her a big and worried before an old woman suddenly yelled from inside the crowd.

“Are we expecting good news from the alpha and Luna soon?”

Hazel raised her head and looked at Kael and Kael looked back at her before looking back at the crowd.

The crowd that was already getting worried began to cheer again as Hazel bowed and rushed back inside, uncertain of what was making her feel so nauseous.

“Mummy!”

Lucian yelled as he ran towards Hazel and hugged her.

She smiled at him and stroked his head gently before looking up at Dona.

“We finally get to see you… Luna Hazel.”

She said the last part teasingly and Hazel smiled.

“I've been meaning to speak with you, I'm glad I saw you before leaving.”

The smile on Hazel's face vanished completely.

“Leaving? Where are you going?”

She looked visibly scared.

She was just trying to get a hold of the fact that she had lost a friend forever and now, Dona wanted to leave as well.

“I'm pregnant Hazel.”

Hazel's eyes opened wide and her hands instinctively moved to cover Lucian's ears.

Dona smiled and looked back at Hazel.

“Can we talk?”

Soon, all four of them, Kael, Hazel, Miguel, and Dona were all sitting in the living room.

“I told Miguel about my past.”

Dona suddenly blurted out.

“And he has chosen not to judge me for it.”

Miguel shook his head.

“I have not chosen not to judge her…”

Everyone turned to him.

“I love her even more for choosing to protect herself from werewolves who wanted to tear her apart.”

Dona's eyes were filled with so much love and gratitude as she looked at him.

“With your permission… we would like to get married.”

Hazel and Kael looked at each other before looking back at them.

Kael nodded.

“Of course, I'm so happy for the both of you.”

They were all smiling but then, they noticed Hazel was quiet.

“Hazel?”

Kael called out and Dona looked worried. She truly hoped Hazel would give her permission. As her friend, her blessing would mean a lot to her.

Hazel lifted her head and looked at Dona.

“Dona…”

She called and Dona nodded, ready to hear whatever she had to say.

“I think we will both be having kids at the same time.”
