Soon, Hazel got to work, sorting them into groups and giving them tasks.

She divided them into three groups.

Standing in front of the first group that consisted of many female warriors and quite a large number of male warriors as well, she spoke.

“Now, you will be in charge of taking every single family to the safe house.

None of them must be hurt, you will protect the people of Nightshade with your life.”

They nodded as she spoke.

“This is not going to be easy.
Most of the opposing side would most likely try to attack you first.”

She paused for a bit and moved closer to them. Looking them straight into their eyes, she added.

“Don't let them win.”

They all bowed and rushed out, going to begin immediately.

She then went to the other two teams.

“We will be working together, attacking with everything we have… including our last breath.”

They were all silent, just looking at her as she spoke.

She turned to the first team.

“You I'll attack with weapons. Go into the storehouse and pick every lethal weapon you can think of.
You will show no mercy.”

They bowed and rushed out.

Then she finally faced the last team.
This team had most of her mother's pack members in it and seeing how they were willing to fight by her side even though this was the first time they were meeting her filled her heart with so much gratitude.

“I have no words to express how grateful I am to all of you.

For coming, for accepting to fight by my side… thank you.”

As soon as she said that, she bowed ninety degrees and a man moved closer to her, patting her on the back.

He looked quite aged, but one could tell he was still very strong by the power that was emanating from him.

She rose and looked at him.

“We might have failed to protect your mother, but we…”

He turned to the rest of his pack members before turning back to her.

“We will fight by your side, we will protect our own.”

Shd swallowed hard, trying to hold back the tears that were threatening to fall from her eyes.

She managed to nod with a smile and he nodded back at her before going back.

“I have no idea when they plan to attack, but we have to be ready.
We will be at the forefront, we will use our powers to the fullest and show them that the werewolves are still not to be messed with.”

“Why don't we attack first?”

The man who spoke earlier spoke again and Hazel was about to say something else when they heard someone scream from outside.

Everyone became very alert. Bones began cracking as they all shifted into their wolf form.

Hearing how fast footsteps were approaching, they could tell the danger was here already.

Hazel looked at her mother's pack and they were all lycans.
They were like three times bigger than the regular werewolf and so much stronger too.

She smiled before she began walking down.

She walked past the wolves and stood in front of them, right in front of the entrance.

And just then, heavy black smoke crept through the entrance of the front door as Rave walked inside it.

She looked like a fully formed demon.

Her horns spread out from her head, and her eyes were glowing green so brightly, showing that she had absorbed a huge amount of power from so many people.

Her nails were elongated to a ridiculous length and as soon as he walked in and smiled, Hazel could see just how long her fangs were.

“I have you more than enough time to prepare… sister.”

“You will never… be my sister.”

Hazel corrected her narrative before it could even sit.

But Rave smirked, almost as if she had been expecting that.

“Whatever, I don't need you anymore anyway.”

She turned to her side and her men began flooding in as if they had just been covered by the smoke all along.

As soon as they had all entered the alpha's hall, Rave turned back to Hazel, her eyes a lot colder than they initially were.

“She's mine.”

As soon as she said it, they began attacking.

The vampires were flying in the air but the werewolves gave them no space as they could also jump just as high.

It soon became very intense.

The vampire king was having a feast reaping out the werewolves' throats, so Zariel decided to take him on instead.

Rave and Hazel were still looking at each other when Rave began running towards Hazel and Hazel immediately did the same thing.

As soon as they clashed, the building shook so hard that the vampires and werewolves fighting had to pause and look at them before they continued fighting.

Rave held Hazel by the throat and threw her so high that she flew out the roof.

And Rave followed immediately, jumping high.

They began fighting in the air.

While this was happening, Kael had managed to get out of the house.

He could see the fight going on, but he left and went straight to Lucian.

Earlier, he had heard Rave speaking to someone and she instructed they take Lucian. He knew he needed to stop that from happening.

As predicted, when he got into the room, Dona was already knocked out bleeding on the floor while Lucian kept crying holding her.

The man stood in front of Lucian but it seemed he could not go any closer.

Lucian had unknowingly created a protection barrier to protect Dona.

“You might have to fight someone else.”

The man turned and Kael moved back.

The resemblance was pretty striking.

The man smiled as he moved closer to Kael.

“Don't even think about it, I can never be your father.”

Kael knew it wasn't Lucifer, Lucifer looked older but they still looked very alike.

“Who are you?”

“Me? I'm Atriel, your father's brother… and the man who is going to kill you.”

As soon as he said that, he charged at Kael but Kael wasn't going to let him win.

Kael took him out of the room and into the hall where everyone was fighting.

Atriel was getting angry seeing as he had not landed a single punch but had been hit several times.

Kael was about to charge at him when he saw someone fall from the top all the way down.

His eyes opened wide and he immediately jumped down.

Running to the middle of the hall, there she was, her heart ripped out with blood spilling everywhere.

“No, Hazel… no!!!”
