Chapter 100 The Battle: Part 1

Chapter 100 The Battle: Part 1
Miguel looked at her, his brow slightly raised. He thought she called him to talk about Kael.

“Are we not going to find Kael?”

She turned to him.

“I thought that would be your major priority right now.”

She sighed and sat down.

“Kael is alive.”

“You can't believe that just because she said so.”

Miguel turned to Zariel, his eyes filled with questions.

“Who said what?”

Hazel's face looked like she had a lot on her mind yet she was trying hard not to show it.

“You think Rave wouldn't have flaunted his dead body at me if he was indeed dead?”

She stood up and walked towards Kael's desk.

“I already told you…”

She paused, looking away from the desk and back to them.

“I'm not going to believe he is dead until I see him for myself.”

Miguel looked kike he had something to say but he remained silent.

“Plus, if we do not plan for this, everyone would be dead before we even get the chance to save Kael.

We need to be ready for her when she attacks.”

Both men nodded in agreement.

“Miguel, I need you to bring Stella here, but also keep an eye on both her and Raina. I don't trust them just yet.”

He bowed and walked out.

After he left, Hazel went back to her seat and stretched out, telling Zariel to sit too.

“I need to get that seal.”

He nodded.

“But I think Rave had it already.”

She raised a brow, surprised by his conclusion.

“She has been actively looking for the golden orb, not the seal. Which means the golden orb is all she needs to complete whatever she needs.”

Hazel exhaled heavily, she was deep in thought as she kept thinking about what he had just said.

“I still don't know what other powers she has, and if she has indeed gotten the support of all the vampires, then it means all we have ahead of her is the orb.”

Zariel could somehow tell what she was thinking.

“You think we are at a disadvantage.”

She turned to him.

“Are we not?”

She asked as she slightly shook her head.

“If she gets the orb, she… wins”

Her voice paused in between as something suddenly clicked in her mind.

She stood up so quickly, Zariel stood up with her.

“Welcome my mother's people for me, and when Miguel returns, tell him to get every single warrior ready.”

“What are you thinking?”

He asked as he noticed she had suddenly switched to being very optimistic.

She turned to him, her eyes brimming with determination.

“If she wants the orb, she's going to have to fight hard to get it.”

As soon as she said that, she walked out and rushed to Dona's room.

“Mummy!”

Lucian ran to her as soon as she walked in.

Hazel looked at Dona with questions in her eyes.

“He said he wants to be with you.”

Lucian pulled away from Hazel a little bit and looked at her with tears in his eyes.

“Mummy, I'm scared.”

Hazel knelt on one knee, making her go low enough for both of them to see each other closely.

“Stop being such a scaddycat, can mummy trust you to protect Aunt Dona?”

He nodded even though he was still very scared.

“I need you to always remember who's son you are Lucian.

You're the son of Kael Damon, the strongest alpha ever. And do you know what he would want?”

He shook his head, looking at her so innocently.

“He would want you to be even stronger than he ever was.
Promise us… promise mom and Dad that you will stay strong no matter what.”

“Hazel.”

Dona called, her words were scaring her the more she heard them.

Hazel raised her head and looked at Dona, giving her a smile that did not sit well with Dona at all.

She then turned back to Lucian.

“Will you make your dad proud?”

Lucian nodded as a tear fell from his eyes.

She smiled at him and wiped his tears as she nodded in acknowledgement.

“Good boy…”

She pulled him in and hugged him.

“You're such a good boy.”

She patted him gently on his back
“Mummy will protect you Lucian. I promise I will protect you with everything I have.”

She stayed with him until he fell asleep and when he finally did, she turned to Dona.

“Rave is going to attack at any time, I need you to be with him no matter what.”

The tears she had been holding in for so long finally came out.

“Stop this Hazel…”

She choked on her tears.

“Stop… stop talking like you're not coming back.”

Hazel looked at her for a while. She was indeed grateful to have met someone like Dona in her lifetime.

She moved away from Lucian and close to Dona, taking her hand in hers.

“I'm coming back.”

She said, giving her a reassuring smile.

“Just… stay with him till I come back.”

Dona was crying so much at this point but she still managed to nod her head.

“I'll protect him with my life.”

She promised and Hazel nodded. That was all she needed to know.

They were still talking when they heard a knock on the door.

Hazel went to the door and opened it.

Both Zariel and Miguel were by the door and as soon as they saw her, they bowed.

“Your mother's pack are here.”

Zariel said.

“I have assembled all of the warriors.”

Hazel nodded.

She turned to look at Lucian one last time before walking out of the room.

Miguel and Zariel stood side by side with her as they walked towards the assembly.

When they finally got to the hall, Hazel walked towards the alpha's seat, which was Kael's seat and looked at it for a long time before turning back to the crowd that was now all silently waiting for her to speak.

“For some in this room, we've fought side by side.
For some, we've strategized together.
And for some…”

She looked towards her mother's people.

“This is the first time we are meeting.”

She then turned back to everyone in general.

“But we are all one, with a common goal… the desire to live… the desire to protect what matters to us.”

They were all nodding and agreeing with her.

“We have an enemy who attempts to ruin our desires!”

She yelled loud enough for everyone to hear her.

“And although I'm sorry we have to assemble for a war that has so little time to be planned for, there is no better time to stick together and fight than now.”

Her eyes brushed through the entire room.

“We will face our enemy… and conquer!!”

She yelled out the last part and they all raised their right hands, yelling in alignment with her.
