Chapter 170 Seeking Help from Mira

Chapter 171 Car Accident

Mira's fingers unconsciously tapped on the armrest, clearly thinking.

Finally, she made her decision.

"You'll stay here for now." Mira waved her hand.

Keira understood—this was already the best outcome she could get at the moment.

She nodded and said nothing more.

She was taken to a secluded guest room.

When the news reached Aiden, he was in the middle of a video conference.

Hearing that Keira had gone to The Coleman Estate on her own and been kept there by Mira, his expression instantly turned terrifyingly dark.

He immediately ended the meeting and rushed to The Coleman Estate.

Night had just fallen. The Coleman Estate was brightly lit, the atmosphere tense.

Aiden strode into the living room, his gaze sweeping around before settling on Mira and Keira emerging from a room.

"Come back with me." He didn't even look at Mira.

He walked straight to Keira and reached out to grab her wrist.

"Aiden!" Mira suddenly blocked his path between them.

"Do you still see me as your mother?"

Aiden let out a cold laugh, his sharp gaze shooting toward Keira behind Mira.

"Mom, this is between her and me. Stay out of it.

Keira, I'm saying this for the last time—come back with me."

Keira kept her eyes lowered, not looking at him, not moving.

She knew that Mira's help had become a fading hope.

But at least she'd tested Mira's attitude.

And sent Aiden a signal—she would do whatever it took to leave.

"I'm not going back." She lifted her head, meeting Aiden's cold gaze.

"You don't have a choice!" Aiden's patience ran out. He forcefully grabbed Keira's wrist, pulled her toward him, and started to take her away!

"Aiden, you're too rebellious! Let her go!" Mira shrieked in fury, stepping forward to pull them apart.

Aiden growled, "I'm taking her today, no matter who tries to stop me!"

The scene spiraled out of control.

In the end, Aiden won.

Half-dragging, half-carrying her, he rushed out of The Coleman Estate with Keira.

"Drive! Back to Willow Green Manor!" he barked at the driver.

Inside the car, the atmosphere was suffocatingly oppressive.

Keira was held tightly against his side. She watched the rapidly retreating streetscape outside the window, her eyes hollow.

Another failure. She still couldn't escape his control.

The car sped through the night toward Willow Green Manor.

Traffic was sparse on the streets, streetlights casting dim yellow halos.

Just then, something went terribly wrong!

A black SUV that had been driving normally ahead suddenly accelerated, swerving sideways and crashing violently toward them!

"Watch out!" The driver only managed a short cry of alarm.

He jerked the steering wheel to avoid it, but it was too late!

With a deafening crash, massive impact force came from the side.

The car body shook violently.

The world spun.

Everything seemed to flip, to shatter!

In the instant the accident happened.

Aiden, who had been resting with his eyes closed, suddenly opened them.

He didn't even have time to think, to judge—his body reacted before his mind could!

"Keira!"

He roared, using all his strength, as the car rolled and everything spun out of control in chaos, he lunged toward Keira beside him.

He stretched out both arms and desperately shielded her entire body beneath his.

Another loud crash—the car flipped heavily on its side, skidded, and finally slammed into the roadside barrier before stopping.

The world, in this moment, fell into an eerie silence.

Only the faint sound of car horns in the distance, and the crackling of electrical currents nearby.

Sharp pain came from every part of his body. Aiden's vision darkened, his consciousness rapidly slipping away.

He could feel warm liquid continuously flowing from his temple, from his back.

Soaking his clothes, staining Keira who was protected in his arms.

But his arms around her didn't loosen in the slightest.

He struggled to look at Keira in his arms.

She seemed dazed from the impact too, her face deathly pale, hair disheveled, but she appeared to have no fatal injuries.

Good. She was okay.

Keira, pinned beneath him, only now recovered from the extreme shock and dizziness.

She turned her head with difficulty and, by the dim streetlight, saw Aiden's face so close to hers.

Saw the winding trails of blood on his temple, his cheek.

He had protected her with his body?

Enormous shock mixed with piercing pain overwhelmed her!

"Aiden?" She trembled as she called his name.

No response.

She panicked.

In the distance, the faint sounds of sirens and ambulances approached, getting clearer and clearer.

But Keira's world seemed to fall into another kind of deathly silence at that moment.

She didn't know what happened after that, only that she was taken to the hospital.

A nurse treated the scrape on her temple. Wrapped in a thin blanket from who knows where, she sat alone on a bench outside the emergency room, waiting.

Her hands were tightly clasped together, fingertips ice-cold, her mind replaying those heart-stopping seconds when the accident happened.

He had bled so much. His breathing had been so weak.

"You jinx!" A sharp, harsh curse accompanied by the rapid clicking of high heels shattered the corridor's silence.

Keira's whole body trembled. She looked up to see Mira, supported by Dashiell, rushing over with red-rimmed eyes.

Mira's hair was somewhat disheveled, her face full of anger.

"Keira! It's you again! I knew it! Nothing good ever happens when you're involved! If anything happens to Aiden, I'll never forgive you.

You're a disaster, here specifically to hurt our Coleman family. How did you bewitch Aiden to make him risk his life to protect you?"

A barrage of insults rained down on Keira.

In the past, she would have responded coldly.

But now, she sat there in a daze, watching Mira's twisted face, hearing those accusations, yet strangely feeling little strength to argue back.

Because what Mira said was true.

If not for her, Aiden wouldn't have forcibly taken her from The Coleman Estate.

They wouldn't have been on that road at that time, and Aiden wouldn't have been so badly injured.

"Mom, please say less." Dashiell frowned, gently tugging at Mira's arm, his gaze falling on Keira with concern.

"Keira, are you okay? Are you hurt?" he asked.

Keira slowly shook her head. Her voice was soft. "I'm fine, just scrapes. He... he lost so much blood."

"He'll be fine, Keira. Don't worry. The doctors here are the best." Dashiell comforted her gently.

Seeing Dashiell defend Keira made Mira even more furious. She pointed at Dashiell and scolded,

"Dashiell! Have you gone crazy too? Don't you see Aiden lying in there fighting for his life because of her, and you're still protecting her? How has she bewitched you both?"
