Chapter 165 She Owes Him More Than Money
Chapter 166 If Only We Could Meet Like the First Time
In just a few days, they would be reunited.
...
Westerland's abortion laws were extremely strict, almost a complete ban.
Keira planned to go to a neighboring country in a couple of days to handle this matter.
After calming down, she contacted Sean.
He arrived quickly, bringing gifts for the children. The atmosphere in the living room was great.
Keira looked at the genuine concern in Sean's eyes and felt touched.
"Sean, thank you." Jessica thanked him sincerely from the side, then turned to Keira,
"Keira, look, Sean is really good to you. What are your plans for the future? Why don't you think about it?"
"Jessica." Keira gently interrupted her, her voice calm and flat,
"I think of Sean as my brother, as family to the children and me. I'll always remember this kindness."
Sean looked at her too, a barely noticeable flash of disappointment in his eyes.
He smiled softly, didn't push, and nodded,
"Keira's right. I'm your family. Protecting you is what I should do. Whenever you need me, I'll be here."
He understood her resolve and her boundaries.
Being able to stay by her side when she needed him most like this—perhaps that was already fate's greatest kindness to him.
He no longer hoped for more, only wished for her safety.
Jessica felt it was a bit of a shame.
But since both Keira and Sean were like that, she had nothing more to say.
She scrolled through her phone and suddenly saw some shocking news.
A company she'd applied to had written back, asking her to come for an interview in two days.
She discussed it with Keira and decided to go back home first, handle things there, then come back to meet up.
The next day.
Keira saw Jessica off at the airport departure gate.
Jessica hugged Keira tightly, her voice choked with emotion,
"Keira, be careful, take care of yourself. As soon as I finish things on my end, I'll come right back to you!"
Ella also hugged Jessica's leg, "Godmother, you have to come back soon, Ella will miss you!"
Although Apollo didn't say anything, he held Jessica's hand tightly, his little face full of reluctance.
Jessica crouched down and pulled both children into her arms,
"Don't worry, I'll be back soon. You have to listen to your mom, okay?"
"Okay!" Both children nodded hard.
Only after watching Jessica disappear through security did Keira let out a soft breath, but that vague unease in her heart never went away.
Walking out of the airport, just as they were about to get in the car and leave, Sean's phone rang.
He answered the call and walked aside to talk quietly for a few moments.
After hanging up, he quickly walked back and said to Keira in a low voice,
"Keira, just got word. Aiden's already on his way. He'll be here by tomorrow morning at the latest!"
"What?"
Keira felt a chill shoot from her feet straight to the top of her head, her whole body freezing.
He'd actually tracked them down, and so quickly!
"How could he?" Keira's voice trembled slightly.
Sean said in a low voice, "Let's go now. We need to leave."
"No." Keira interrupted him, her voice soft but unusually firm.
"Sean, you take the children and go."
"What about you?" Sean panicked. "We'll go together! There's still time!"
Keira slowly shook her head, her gaze looking toward the planes taking off and landing on the distant airport runway, her eyes carrying a sense of release after extreme exhaustion.
"No. This time, I'm not running."
"Keira!" Sean didn't understand.
Keira gave a self-mocking smile. "Some things need to be settled with him. Running forever won't solve the problem."
"But you?" Sean looked at her, his heart breaking.
"I'll be fine." Keira shrugged. "I'm just staying to make everything completely clear with him. After we talk, I'll come find you. Trust me, okay?"
Seeing that resolve in her eyes, Sean knew he couldn't persuade her anymore. "Okay. I'll wait for you."
Keira nodded and watched Sean leave with the two children.
Only when the car was completely out of sight did she slowly look away.
Keira returned to the villa alone, waiting from day into night.
She knew Aiden was fast—it wouldn't be long before he showed up.
At night, she didn't turn on the lights, sitting quietly on the first-floor living room sofa, feeling strangely calm.
Time seemed to stretch out.
Just when she thought there wouldn't be any movement before dawn, the harsh sound of brakes came from outside.
Then came the sound of chaotic footsteps.
A loud bang! The heavy door was violently kicked open from the outside.
Several tall figures in black suits with cold expressions rushed in first.
Then a tall figure carrying the night wind stepped inside.
It was Aiden.
He stood in the shadows of the entrance hall, instantly locking onto the figure sitting upright on the living room sofa.
She wore plain home clothes, her long hair casually draped over her shoulders, looking thin and pale.
She was looking down at him quietly, as if his arrival was just an insignificant matter.
This calm appearance shocked Aiden.
He waved his hand, stopping the bodyguards from going further, and walked into the living room step by step himself.
He stopped across from the sofa, his tall figure looming over her, completely enveloping Keira in his shadow.
He stared at her intently. "Haven't seen you in days—don't you have anything to say to me?"
Each word seemed squeezed out through clenched teeth.
Only then did Keira slowly lift her head, no expression on her face, not even a flutter of her eyelashes.
"That money—you received it, right?"
Aiden's breathing hitched.
Her first words weren't an explanation, weren't a plea for mercy, but about those three billion dollars?
"Money?" He laughed coldly, violent energy spreading out,
"You think you can buy everything off with three billion dollars? Just wipe the slate clean between us?
Let me tell you, impossible. Your little bit of money is worthless in my eyes!"
"As long as you received the money, that's good," Keira repeated. "No matter what you think, I believe we're done. We owe each other nothing."
Aiden looked like he'd heard the biggest joke. "Who gave you permission to unilaterally say we're done? Come home with me, now!"
As he reached out, Keira's body shrank back, avoiding his touch.
"Aiden," she slowly stood up, looking at him with clear eyes, "that place isn't my home. It never was."
"Then what were all those times before, those days! You lived there, slept there, with me."
"Enough!" Keira cut him off sharply.
She really didn't understand why Aiden could never learn to respect her, always acting so superior and entitled in front of her.
But why?
Why should she live according to his wishes?
"Aiden, let the past be the past. A clean break is good for both of us.
If you keep clinging on, it'll only make me think less of you."
After a moment of silence, she spoke again.
She looked quietly into his deep eyes, suddenly thinking of their first meeting.
If only it could be like the first time they met.
If only it could be like the first time they met, that would be good.
