Chapter 164 Aiden Chased After
Chapter 165 She Owes Him More Than Money
"Ella!" Keira crouched down and hugged Ella tightly, tears she'd been holding back finally spilled over.
Apollo was there too, gripping Ella's hand and refusing to let go.
"It's okay now, it's all okay." Keira released the children. "Let's go home."
The car drove for over an hour before finally stopping in front of a detached villa in the suburbs of Westerland.
It was far from the city noise, surrounded by stretches of woods and a quiet lake.
Isaac had specially arranged this place for them.
Walking into the villa, Keira set down the luggage and said gently,
"You must all be hungry? I'll cook for you. It'll be ready soon."
Jessica sat on the soft sofa, looking around at this home that felt so safe, her tense nerves completely relaxing.
She couldn't help but sigh. "Keira, this is wonderful. It's like a dream—our hard times are finally over."
Keira called out from the kitchen, "Yeah."
The dining table was soon filled with simple home-cooked dishes, steaming hot.
Under the lights, the long-separated family sat together, the atmosphere warm and peaceful.
Keira smiled as she looked at everyone, but beneath that gentle smile, her heart remained shrouded in a lingering shadow.
Hard times over? Really?
She couldn't be sure yet.
After dinner, Apollo and Ella played with a puzzle on the living room carpet.
"Apollo, do you think we'll live here forever now?"
Ella asked, tilting her little head.
Apollo nodded firmly. "Yes! Mom said it's safe here. We'll stay here and never go back!"
"Never go back, then what about that Aiden?"
Ella responded instinctively, but halfway through, as if remembering something, her voice stopped abruptly.
Apollo froze, too, then said, "We don't have a dad, only Mom. It's okay, we just need to love Mom."
Their voices weren't loud, but every word drifted into Keira's ears.
Keira's hand holding the cloth trembled slightly, knocking over a plate.
But she steadied herself immediately, as if she hadn't heard anything.
That evening.
"Keira." Jessica looked at Keira's calm, emotionless profile, hesitated, then finally couldn't help asking the worry that had been circling in her mind,
"What if—I'm just saying what if—Aiden really does find us? What should we do?"
"He won't." Keira cut her off, her voice flat and emotionless.
But her gaze fell on the deep darkness outside the window, unfocused.
"He doesn't love me. I know that very clearly. A woman he doesn't care about isn't worth him going to all that trouble to search the whole world for."
Jessica looked at her thin figure, feeling a wave of sadness, wanting to comfort her, but not knowing where to start.
She changed the subject. "So in the future, are you planning to raise Apollo and Ella by yourself? Have you ever thought about finding a father for the kids?"
Keira didn't answer right away, just picked up her water glass and took a sip.
This topic made her even more uncomfortable than the last one.
A new life, a new partner—she'd never thought about it.
She just felt exhausted and only wanted to live quietly with Apollo and Ella.
Just then, a strong wave of nausea surged up.
She suddenly covered her mouth and stumbled toward the bathroom!
Sounds of suppressed retching came from the bathroom.
Jessica was frightened and quickly followed, patting her back.
"What's wrong? Is it gastritis? Or did you eat something bad?"
Keira leaned over the sink, her face pale, waves of acid rising in her stomach, making her feel terribly sick.
She shook her head, rinsed her mouth, and looked at her pale face in the mirror.
A terrible suspicion rose uncontrollably in her mind.
Could she really be pregnant?
Jessica looked at Keira's face, which had instantly lost all color, and the same terrible thought struck her.
She grabbed Keira's arm. "Keira, you're not pregnant, are you?"
Keira turned her head stiffly. "Impossible. I took the pill, and it was only once. How could I be?"
Jessica was speechless for a moment, but still said helplessly, "Keira, these things can happen. There's no 100% effective contraception. Even if you took the pill, it can fail. Just to be safe, let's test, okay? I'll go buy test strips."
Keira bit her lower lip hard.
After a long while, she nodded slightly. There was no other choice.
Jessica brought back several pregnancy test strips of different brands.
After Keira used them, she waited anxiously.
Time passed second by second, like a century of torment.
When those test strips all showed Positive.
The strips slipped from Keira's hands and fell to the floor.
She felt as if all her strength had been drained away. She staggered back a step and had to lean on Jessica to keep from falling.
The whole world seemed to collapse and shatter before her eyes.
"How can this be?" she murmured, finding it absurd.
Jessica's face also looked terrible. "Keira, it's okay."
"A solution?" Keira suddenly looked up. "There's only one solution—get rid of it!"
Jessica froze and said nothing more.
Right now, that was the only option, even though it would harm her body.
...
Meanwhile.
Aiden's people sent investigation information.
They confirmed that Jessica and Ella's destination was indeed Westerland.
He thought, as long as they landed and left any trace somewhere, he was absolutely confident he could dig them out.
They couldn't escape. Keira couldn't escape either.
Just then, the study door was knocked gently, and Justin walked in with a serious expression.
"Mr. Coleman, a lawyer just asked me to pass this document to you. He said someone commissioned him."
Justin handed over the envelope with both hands.
Aiden frowned, took the envelope, and tore it open.
A document slid out.
He quickly scanned the title and contents, his fingers suddenly clenching tight.
This was Keira using a lawyer to return the three billion dollars to him.
He couldn't help but remember when he'd asked her to repay the money.
Ridiculous—that had just been a temporary measure!
She actually wanted to use this method to wipe out everything between them, settle all accounts.
Aiden suddenly slammed the document hard on the desk, making a dull sound.
"Mr. Coleman?" Justin called out worriedly.
"Get out!" Aiden's voice was hoarse.
Justin didn't dare say more and immediately left.
Only Aiden's heavy breathing remained in the study.
He stared at those few sheets of paper on the desk that felt as heavy as a thousand pounds, a terrifying storm churning in his eyes.
He seemed to see Keira standing in the distance, looking at him with those cold, distant eyes.
Then personally wielded the knife to cut the last thread connecting them.
But what she owed him—how could it be just money?
"Keira," Aiden squeezed out the name through clenched teeth. "You think this settles everything?"
He smiled coldly.
