Chapter 104
“Of course, my love.” Luis says sweetly.
They all leave and Gloria moves to sit in front of Veronica so she can see her.
“Are you okay Mrs. Molina? Can I get you anything?”
“No dear. I am fine. I want you to know that I am very happy for you and my son. He has had a horrible life and you make him happier than I thought we would ever see him. But if you hurt him, I swear I will kill you. Do you understand me?”
“Yes, Jefa. I promise I will not hurt him. He is my life. I love him so much. Actually, I haven’t told him yet but I just found out while the doctor was checking me out after you saved me. I’m pregnant. Can you help me tell Octavio? I’m so scared. I think it’s too early and I don’t want him to be upset with me. And-“
“Breathe please Gloria. He will be thrilled. I will be happy to be here holding your hand while you tell him about my grandchild.” Veronica says with a smile as she tries to and fails to put her hand on her belly.
Gloria sits closer so she can touch her belly.
“Are you sure you are okay with this life my dear?”
“Yes I am sure. I want to be with him and like I told your husband I don’t care what that looks like.”
Veronica chuckles weakly. “That’s actually exactly the conversation Luis had with his father about me. I know you both will have a good life. We will help along the way. You just have to be more alert and careful when doing things.”
“We can do that. You just tell me what to do and I will do it.”
“Good. Now go get your fiancé and my husband so we can tell them.” She says with a chuckle.
Gloria giggles and gets up to go get Octavio and Luis. She comes back a few minutes later. Luis has a tray with two plates on it for himself and Veronica.
“Oct will you help me sit up please?” Veronica asks.
“Yes mama.” Octavio smiles and helps her to sit up while propping her arm up to reduce the pressure on her wound.
“Thanks Oct. Gloria come sit by me.” Veronica pats the couch to her right and Luis snuggles in behind her to her left careful not to hurt her arm.
Gloria sits down and Veronica holds her hand.
“Oct sit here in front of Gloria.” Veronica says weakly as she squeezes Gloria’s head. “It’s okay dear. We’re here.”
Gloria nods but her eyes instantly become teary. “Oct you know I love you more than anything but I need to tell you something.”
Octavio doesn’t say anything. He is thinking this is where she tells him that she can’t be part of his life given his history.
“So, when the doctor was checking me out after your mom and dad saved me they found something that I want you to know about.”
“Whatever it is we will get through it love.” Octavio says as he gets on his knees in front of her and holds her hand.
“You’re going to be a daddy.”
Octavio looks at her in shock for a few seconds before he can even respond. “You scared the shit out of me. I thought you were going to leave me.”
“I will not leave you but I need to know what you are thinking about having a baby. I mean we haven’t even talked-“
“Breathe my love. I want nothing more than to be with you forever and have babies with you. I am so fucking happy right now that I get both in one shot.” Octavio says with a huge smile on his face as he pulls her to stand up and hugs her and then kisses her before he runs his hand down to her belly.
“Now you both need to decide where you want to live and when you want to get married and we will make it happen.” Veronica says with a smile. She is so weak that she is leaning back against Luis. He puts his arm around her shoulder so it’s more comfortable for her.
“Well, Gloria. When do you want to get married?” Octavio asks with a huge smile on his face.
“It doesn’t matter to me as long as we are together. I do want my parents there though.”
“That’s not a problem. Do you think they should meet all my parents?”
Gloria thought for a few seconds before she nodded and said, “Yeah they should but they should only get the watered-down version.” She says with a chuckle.
They all laugh and agree that all the parents should meet including Christopher and Tiffany.
Octavio to Christopher: Could you and Tiffany come to breakfast tomorrow?
Christopher: Of course son. We’ll be there.
“Father and Tiffany will be here for breakfast. Do you think your parents would come for lunch if we fly them down?”
“Ooh they would like that I’m sure.”
“Okay I’ll get you some tickets printed that you can send them and our plane will bring them here. We’ll reserve that restaurant downtown that we all like.” Veronica says.
Luis nods and Gavin goes to get everything ready for Gloria’s parents.
The next morning Veronica wakes up in a lot of pain but rested since she hasn’t been able to sleep for days. Luis gave her a sponge bath the night before and promised she could have a shower in the morning.
“Here baby. Take these pain pills and then I will get you into the shower.” Luis says as he sits next to her on the bed with a bottle of water in one hand and pills in the other.
Veronica nods and takes the pills from him. She swallows all of them and then Luis gets up off the bed to get the bathroom ready for her.
He comes back into the bedroom a few minutes later and scoops Veronica up off the bed. He carries her into the bathroom and carefully sets her on the bathroom counter.
Luis carefully undresses her and then himself. He carries her into the shower and adjusts the water so it is not in her face or on her shoulder. He sets her on the shower bench and washes her hair gently. He carefully uses the shower wand to rinse her hair. He uses the body wash to clean her body.
Veronica cannot help the sigh that leaves her at the sensation of just being cleaned for the first time in what felt like ages. Luis is very careful not to hurt her but at the same time taking his time to make sure she is completely clean.
Luis quickly washes himself and then carries Veronica out of the shower. He carefully dries her body and takes her out to set her on the bed again.
He heads into the closet and gets her a pair of panties and a strapless bra so it won’t hurt her shoulder. He carefully gets her panties and bra on being careful to not hurt her when he adjusts the bra. Of course the action of adjusting her breasts in the bra only turns him on but he knows that she needs to heal more before they do anything.
Luis kisses her softly from time to time just to let Veronica know that she is loved.
He gets out a pair of leggings and one of his shirts so the fabric doesn’t cling to her injuries. He changes her bandages and then puts the shirt on her. He gets out a pair of socks and sneakers for her that he puts on her.
Luis gets her a long passionate kiss before he goes off to get dressed. He wears boxers, shorts, and a black t-shirt. He knows that Veronica will want to get dressed up but he also knows that she will not be comfortable so he is purposely dressing in casual clothes so that she doesn’t feel alone. Luis has already made it a point to tell everyone else the same thing including Octavio and Gloria.
Octavio and Gloria have breakfast with Christopher and Tiffany on the pool deck. Luis carries out Veronica to meet them as well. They eat a little bit until Veronica is too tired and Luis takes her back inside to nap before they head into town to meet Gloria’s parents.
“What happened to your mom Octavio?” Christopher asks.
“She saved my lovely fiancé and got hurt that’s all you need to know.” Octavio says with a straight face.
“Is everything okay now? Are you all in any danger?”
“No, we are all okay now.” Octavio says with a smile on his face.
“Wait did you say fiancé?” Christopher asks with a large smile on his face.
“I did.” Octavio says as he looks to his father with a big smile on his face. He snakes his arm around Gloria’s shoulders and holds her tight against himself.
“I’m so proud of you.” Christopher says as he jumps up and pulls his son into a hug. He walks over and hugs Gloria as well. Tiffany does as well.
“And you are going to be a grandpa.” Octavio says with an even bigger smile on his face.
Christopher and Tiffany look at Octavio with their mouths open before they both smile and hug both him and Gloria with squeals of joy.
Christopher and Tiffany hug and cry into each other. Luis comes running back thinking something is wrong.
“Dad it’s okay. I told them about the wedding and the baby.” Octavio says with a smile on his face.
“Okay good. I thought something was wrong.” Luis says with a chuckle. “I am going to go back to your mother. We all need to leave in about an hour to get downtown.”
“We’ll be ready dad.” Octavio says with a smile as he hugs Luis.
Luis hugs Gloria before going back to their room so be with Veronica.
When Luis gets back to the room, Veronica is crying from the pain. Luis calls the doctor into look her over again.
