Chapter 60 Back to Boswick
That night, the Cavendish siblings traveled to the town of Bostwick, where their father and stepmother, Carolina, lived. The distance between Aether and Bostwick was not too far; it only took them three hours to drive there.
Although Bostwick was not a big city or a business center like Aether, it was quite developed and much quieter. The senior Cavendish couple chose to live there because they wanted to enjoy some peace after decades of working hard to maintain the Cavendish family's dominance in Aether.
Now sixty years old, it was Cavendish-Cavendish Junior's turn to continue the legacy in Aether. Even so, the Cavendish family business still dominated Bostwick, employing almost half of the city's residents, not to mention the public facilities they owned, such as schools and clinics, which they provided free of charge to low-income residents.
The car carrying the Cavendish siblings arrived at the mansion. As soon as Rossie got out, a gardener immediately recognized her and greeted her warmly.
"Oh, Miss Rossie? Is it really you? Do you still remember me? I'm Dave Steward, Ben Steward's son, who used to be a gardener here. Now my father is old and has decided to retire," said a young man of Ethan's age.
Rossie smiled, "Yes, yes, I remember you. The five of us often played together when we were little."
Dave Steward had actually gone to college and earned a bachelor's degree in agriculture. He had worked for several companies, but the salary and benefits they offered were not as good as those offered by the Cavendish family, so he chose to replace his elderly father and become a gardener for the Cavendish family.
"Oh, I've heard about your father. He was very kind, and my father really liked Uncle Ben's work. I'm glad you're continuing his work, because I'm sure that in your hands, this garden will remain as beautiful as it was when your father took care of it."
Dave chuckled as he scratched his head, which wasn't itchy, his face turning red. He blushed at the compliment. "Ah, miss, you're too kind. My skills are still far from my father's. I still have a lot to learn from him. "
Rossie smiled and looked very charming. Dave thought she was a very beautiful woman, but he only complimented her and didn't dare to think any further, considering the Cavendish family's attitude towards him. Besides, he was already engaged, and his wedding would take place in two months.
" I came here to ask for your help," Rossie said suddenly.
Dave looked at her seriously.
Rossie sighed softly and decided to be frank. "A good friend of mine gave me a gift, but I accidentally broke it. I'm worried she'll be sad if she finds out, so I want to make a new one."
" What kind of gift?"
Rossie pursed her lips before taking an accessory bag out of her purse. Then she took the pieces of the ruby bracelet wrapped in tissue from inside.
"Oh my! That ruby is high quality. It's hard to find a stone of that grade. What a pity."
Dave was also a gemstone enthusiast, and as soon as he saw the broken bracelet, his heart felt sad.
"I know it's hard to find one of that grade, but I still want to try. How much is left?" Dave asked.
"About 300, more or less."
"I want them all opened tonight."
"Ahem"
Dominic coughed lightly out of embarrassment. Meanwhile, Marcus had already grabbed his cell phone. He was getting ready to call his father.
Rossie had a habit of saying surprising things in a light and casual tone.
"No way! You're going to use up my supply!" Dave sounded very anxious.
"You're overreacting, Dave. You can keep those gems for yourself. You don't have to sell them, right? Besides, I already asked for the ore to be opened. You can send the bill to Ethan."
An idea flashed through Rossie's mind at that moment. She remembered that Ethan often forgot to give her gifts, and she had just won an award as the best young doctor, so she wanted to surprise him.
"Anyway, you can bill Ethan's account. Tell him that I ordered it and have him pay more. He's very rich, so it doesn't matter."
Marcus and Dominic, who had heard this, just laughed and gave Rossie a thumbs-up. Meanwhile, Ethan stared in surprise.
"Rossie... why? Isn't Dominic the richest among the three of us?" protested Ethan.
Rossie just laughed, then took Ethan's hand. "Hmm, don't you want to spoil your little sister?"
Rossie gave him a cute look, and of course, Ethan couldn't refuse.
"Okay... okay. I'll do it. Are you satisfied?" Ethan asked.
This time, Rossie hugged Ethan and kissed his cheek. At that moment, Dominic and Marcus looked gloomy; now it was their turn to be jealous.
"Rossie... why are you..."
Rossie waved to Marcus and Dominic, then followed Dave to his workshop to take apart her bracelet.
Meanwhile, the Cavendish siblings sat in the pavilion drinking black tea.
"Rossie is too nice to the Johansen family. I'm starting to envy them." Marcus frowned unhappily.
"Mrs. Johansen Senior is a respectable old lady, and she really likes Rossie. Rossie is someone who knows how to repay people's kindness. It's only natural that she wants to repay Mrs. Johansen Senior's kindness. She has my support." Dominic sipped his tea slowly as he spoke in a soft baritone voice.
"You support her, hmm? I don't believe you'll still support Rossie if she starts dating Bryce again!"
"Nothing can change Rossi's mind, you know. That's just how she is. The more we oppose her decision, the more she wants to date Bryce."
Dominic sighed lightly.
"Damn it! Our sister is a beautiful, respected, and prominent girl. She even rejected the advances of the prime minister's son from a neighboring country! How could she dedicate her love to that ungrateful jerk?"
Marcus snorted coldly. "But then again, this is a good thing. Bryce is the worst of the bastards, right? Rossie won't be fooled by other men's tricks and deceit if she meets them in the future."
Dominic's phone started vibrating on the table at that moment, and he was startled when he saw the caller's name on the screen.
