Chapter 59 Dresses
MIA
Birds singing beautifully, the sun hitting my face, and the fulfilling feeling of a good night's sleep.
I opened my eyes, taking the rays of the sun as I stared at the ceiling. I let out a sigh, yawning as I turned to the side while closing my eyes.
The comfy bed feels divine. One of the things that contributed to my beauty sleep. I moved my hand so I could get a contact.
But I got a space next to me, making me open my eyes.
Axel is not here.
I raised my head and looked around the room.
He is nowhere in the room.
I yawned again, covering my mouth with my hand as I lay on my back. I placed my hands on the bed and pulled myself up.
I stretched out to my satisfaction, yawning again.
I covered my mouth while yawning and my eyes caught sight of my ring.
My heart danced like it did yesterday. I held my finger with the ring on it, smiling as I recalled yesterday.
"Will you marry me, Mia Jefferson?"
Oh my God.
"Are you.....are you serious?"
"Yes, baby. I have never been so serious about anything in my life."
My heart fluttered.
"Please marry me and let's build a future together."
I covered my mouth as my heart fluttered continuously.
"What do you say, baby?"
I stared at the pretty ring. Gold and beautiful.
I looked at him.
His blue eyes are pleasantly staring at me, begging for my acceptance.
I nodded. "Yes,"
Excitement danced on his face.
"Really?"
"Yes, I will marry you."
He laughed. "Yes!"
I chuckled as he got on his feet and wrapped me in a hug.
I wrapped my hands around him as my heart danced.
He unwrapped me and took out the ring from the box. He reached for my left hand. I placed it on his hand and he fixed the ring on my finger.
He held my hand and kissed the ring making my cheeks heat up and my heart dance happily.
He kissed my lips and hugged me.
I let out a breath of joy as I caressed his back. I looked at the ring on my finger, smiling at the prettiness.
I smiled as I stared at my ring.
It is really pretty. I love it.
I am really getting married.
How exciting is this?
I have always thought about this. Married to him and have adorable kids running around this house.
This is so exciting.
Axel really wants to marry me.
But it still feels foreign.
After all that happened, I thought there wasn't any future between us anymore.
I didn't see this coming.
I also didn't expect him to kick Amy out of his house. Even told her to her face that he is in love with me.
He was really controlled by his mother. She is the reason he was acting like that towards me.
I have no idea why she hates me so much. She took away my job because of Axel.
Now I wonder if she will approve this marriage.
My heart reacted as I looked up from my fingers, thinking about his mother.
What if she doesn't approve of this?
I need to talk to Axel about it. He....
The door opened, revealing Axel with a tray of meals in his hands.
I furrowed my brows slightly.
He smiled at me as he closed the door behind him.
I smiled as well.
"Hey, baby," he said, walking towards me.
"Good morning," I said, still smiling.
"The morning is really good with a queen in my humble abode." He said, placing the tray on my lap.
I chuckled as I stared at the beautiful breakfast.
Pancakes, bacon, eggs, and a glass of orange juice.
"This looks lovely and yummy," I said, looking at him with a smile as he sat next to me.
"Breakfast in bed for the future Mrs Steel," he said, making my cheeks heat up.
I lowered my gaze shyly.
He chuckled.
Mrs Steel. God, that sounds perfect.
"I hope you like it," he said, making me look at him. He is staring at me with his charming eyes.
He is so good-looking.
I nodded. "I do. Thank you."
He smiled.
I smiled as well, picking up the fork. I picked a portion of the eggs and ate them.
I hummed at the taste.
"Good right?"
I nodded, giving him an okay sign with my index finger and thumb.
He chuckled.
I cut a portion of my pancakes and put them in my mouth.
"I am a good cook, you know."
I nodded. "No doubt."
He chuckled.
I picked up another portion and ate.
I looked at him as I chewed.
He stared at me.
I smiled.
He smiled as well.
I picked more of my pancakes. Then eggs and bacon.
They are delicious.
"Um...my mom wants to see us today."
I froze, letting out a cough.
I patted my chest as I coughed continuously.
"Here, take your juice," he said, offering me my glass.
I reached to take it from him but he moved it to my lips.
I took some amount and placed my hand on his hand, making him move the glass away.
"Are you okay?"
"Yes. Thank you,"
"You scared me there," he said, chuckling.
I smiled nervously.
"Your mom wants to see us?" I asked, looking at him.
"Yeah."
"As in....both of us?" I asked.
"Yeah. I told her about us last night. She told me she wants to see us today for dinner at her favorite restaurant." He said.
Oh gosh.
I lowered my gaze as I processed what he just said.
His mother wants to see us?
He reached for my chin and raised my face to look at him.
He is looking at me with concern.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
I shook my head slightly, lowering my gaze again.
"Mia,"
I looked at him.
"What is it?"
"Nothing, really," I said, lowering my gaze again.
He heaved a sigh. "It is because of my mom, right?"
I looked at him.
"It is, right?"
"Why does she want to see us?"
He scoffed. "Uh, cause we are getting married," he said, chuckling.
I lowered my gaze, moving the fork on my pancake.
He held my left hand, making me look at him as he kissed my knuckles.
He moved his eyes to me.
"Listen, baby, I chose you," he said. "Like I said before, I am done submitting to her wishes. I am doing me now and that you, Mia."
My heart fluttered as I stared at him.
"We are getting married whether she likes it or not."
I lowered my gaze as my heart fluttered more.
"That's exactly what I told her last night."
I looked at him.
"She has to understand that."
"Does she?"
"Well, it is not going to be that easy but I think she has accepted my choice. She can't argue or control me anymore. That is why she wants to see us." He caressed my hand, making me look at our hands.
"She wants to see the woman who has stolen her son's heart."
I looked at him.
He reached for my hair, brushing it behind my ear.
"Because that's what you are, baby. A pretty thief."
My cheeks heated up as I smiled.
He chuckled.
"You don't have to worry about anything. It is just dinner. She is my only family and one way or the other you will still have to meet her."
I nodded.
"But hey, she is not going to stop us from getting married. I assure you." He said, leaning closer and pecking my lips.
I blushed again.
"Now, eat up. We have to go to the mall and get you a pretty dress." He said, getting on his feet.
"The mall?"
"Yeah. My fiancée has to look gorgeous for tonight, you know." He said, winking at me as he walked away.
I smiled as my heart danced.
I picked up my juice and took a sip.
I let out a breath as I thought of his mom.
I don't feel good about it but he is right about the fact that I will still have to see her anyway.
I am not going to think about it too much.
I trust Axel.
Tonight is going to go well.
AT THE MALL......
Axel took my hand after he opened the door for me, I got out and he closed the door. He led the way towards the entrance glass doors of the huge mall called, 'Unique Caramel'.
It is a huge and expensive-looking mall.
The butler opened the door for us and we walked in.
My eyes took in the aesthetics of the mall as Jay Jay took us to the huge escalators.
We followed the one going up as I looked around, staring at people who were moving to and fro.
I held Axel's arm as we headed up, making him look at me with a smile.
I smiled as well and my heart continued dancing happily.
He faced ahead as we moved slowly.
He looks handsome in his black turtleneck sweater and white pants.
He is beyond handsome.
I feel lucky.
I, on the other hand, am dressed in joggers and a sweater.
I have no clothes with me. I have settled for this for now till we get clothes for me.
We got to the top and Axel took us towards a hallway with different stores on both sides.
Some people walked past us randomly and I saw a gorgeous black couple approaching with a baby in the man's hand.
My heart tightened slightly as I stared at them. They got closer and my eyes rested on the baby in their hands.
Jay Jay filled my head as I stared at the baby.
He looks around Jay Jay's age, darker and adorable.
They walked past us and I looked behind me.
They kept walking ahead.
Jay Jay's smile, his tempting chubby cheeks, and his constant way of playing with my hair.
God, I miss him.
I miss you so much.
I faced ahead and lowered my gaze as I recalled that night I saved him.
No doubt I would do it again despite the consequences I went through.
But he is not Big Kai's kid.
How could that be? Are they really sure about that?
What If....
I shook my head, taking the thought off my head.
It is in the past now.
I looked at Axel as we walked.
I have a present and a future to stick to now. I smiled at my thoughts as I rested my head on his arm momentarily.
Time went by and we were in a store filled with a lot of beautiful dresses, shoes, bags, and jewelry.
I am currently in the changing room, staring at myself in the huge mirror dressed in a long-sleeved black dress with shiny stones all over and a slit.
I smiled at myself in the mirror as I ran my hands down my hips, feeling the tiny stones.
"This is perfect." The female salesperson said, reminding me of her presence. She is standing behind me, staring at me in the mirror with a smile.
"Your boyfriend will love it." She said.
"You think so?" I asked.
"Yeah. You look gorgeous. He will definitely love it."
I smiled, staring at the dress again.
"Let's go and show him." She said.
"Yeah, let's go," I said, turning to her. She led the way towards the entrance of the changing room. We walked out of the room and I found Axel seated on the red waiting sofa a few steps ahead, talking to someone on the phone.
His eyes moved to me and I smiled.
He said something to the person on the phone and lowered it as he got to his feet.
"Wow," he said, walking towards me.
"You like it?"
He huffed. "You look stunning."
I chuckled. "Thank you."
"See, I told you he would love it." The salesperson said, smiling at me as she fixed the dress a bit.
"Go try more dresses, baby. I need to speak to the salesperson." He said, making me furrow my brows a bit.
"Oh me?" The salesperson asked.
"Yes please." He said and his eyes moved to me.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
