Chapter 60 Meet Mom
MIA
"Nothing. Go ahead, okay? You look divine." He said.
I nodded slightly, walking towards the changing room as I sensed the salesperson moving closer to Axel.
Getting to the entrance door, I looked behind me and I saw Axel talking with the salesperson.
What are they talking about?
She nodded at whatever he said and they both looked my way.
I turned my gaze from them and walked into the room.
I walked towards the mirror and heaved a sigh as I stared at myself in the mirror.
I thought about Axel and the salesperson.
I shook my head. Don't get any ideas, Mia.
No ideas.
Axel loves you. And you both are about to get married.
I reached for my zip behind me and was about to pull down the zip but.....
A crackling sound made me freeze.
I looked behind me but I didn't see anyone.
I furrowed my brows a bit.
I turned back to the mirror, staring at myself. I was about to pull down my zip when the salesperson walked in.
I turned to her.
"Hey," she said, walking towards me with a not-so-bright smile on her face.
"Hey."
"Um, I have to take the dress."
I furrowed my brows slightly.
"The dress?"
She nodded. "Yes."
"Is something wrong?"
"No, not really. I will just take it back and bring you cheaper ones."
I furrowed my brows.
"WHICH are more beautiful than this one, trust me. I got you," she said, walking around me before I could say anything.
She stood behind me and began unzipping the dress.
"But...." I paused as I thought of Axel.
Was he talking about the dress with her?
I pulled off the dress and she picked it up.
"I will be right back with more beautiful dresses, okay? Just wait here for me," she said, walking past me and towards the door.
She walked out the door, leaving me in wonder.
She said cheaper dresses.
I don't understand what is going on.
NIGHT HOURS.....
"You look stunning in the red dress. I can't stop staring at you." Axel said as he handled the wheel.
I smiled at him.
He smiled as well and faced the road.
We are both in his car, driving along a slightly busy road and heading to his mother's favorite restaurant.
He is dressed in a black suit, looking very good-looking as always. I love the way he styled his dark hair. All to the back and it's shiny.
I am dressed in a beautiful red knee-length dress with a V-neck line, showing a little of my cleavage.
My hair is tied up in a neat pony and I have little makeup on as requested. I got my fingernails and toenails done as well.
I look very beautiful tonight. I can't remember the last time I dolled up.
It should feel good but I have a question in my head.
A question about the dress I am wearing.
The dress is beautiful no doubt but I don't understand why he made the salesperson take back the first black dress I tried on.
It is more beautiful and I love it.
I love this one too but why did he.....
"Are you nervous?" he snapped me off my thoughts.
I looked at him.
He is looking between me and the road.
"A little."
"Don't be," he said, staring at the road. "Nothing is going to go wrong, trust me."
I lowered my gaze as I moved my hand on my small silver purse which is matching with my silver heels.
"You trust me right?"
I looked at him.
He is looking at me and then the road.
"Yes, I do."
He smiled, taking my hand and moving it to his lips. He placed a kiss on it and looked at me with a smile.
I smiled as well.
Not long later, we got to the restaurant called Tasty Masterpiece. A huge building made of glass. You could see the people in the building having their meal. It is very fancy and looks expensive.
Axel is wealthy. So is his mother.
This place is her favorite.
A very fancy restaurant.
Axel opened my door for me and offered me his hand. I placed my hand on his and got out of the car.
He closed the door, filling my nostrils again with his familiar expensive perfume.
"Let's go," he said, taking us towards the double glass doors. We walked into the building and I saw a lot of full tables.
People chatted with one another. Glasses, cutlery, and plates clicked as they ate. Waiters and waitresses moved to and fro with their trays in their hands.
The place is large and beautiful. The chandeliers added to its expensive aesthetics.
Axel took us further into the restaurant. I looked around as we walked, feeling more nervous.
We got to a table and I saw two women seated. One of them has a strong resemblance to Axel and is sipping her drink from a glass.
That must be his mom.
My nervous feeling reached its peak.
"Mom," Axel called, making my heart pound as she looked at us. I held my purse tightly, pouring all my nervousness into it.
"Son," his mother said.
"Aunt Jackie," Axel said to the other woman as he moved his hand to my waist.
"Hello, honey," the woman said.
"I didn't know you would be here too."
"Well, when your mother calls, I will be there no questions asked." the woman said, smiling.
"So, this is the one." His mom said, making me look at her.
"Yes, Mom. This is Mia Jefferson, my beautiful fiancée." Axel said, caressing my arm.
"Good evening, ma'am." I greeted nervously.
"I see," she said, scanning me from head to toe unpleasantly.
I lowered my gaze, feeling my legs weakening.
"She is indeed beautiful," Axel's aunt said.
"Of course she is," Axel said.
"Take a seat," his mom said.
"Thank you, Mom," Axel said as he took out a seat for me right opposite his mother.
I cried internally for that. I don't have to be right in front of her.
"Thank you," I muttered nervously before taking my seat.
He sat next to me and opposite his aunt.
I flicked my eyes to his mom. She is staring at me.
I swallowed nervously as I stared at the table.
"Waiter," she called and I almost got caught off guard.
A waiter placed glasses in front of Axel and me and filled them with a golden drink.
I think it is champagne.
That's what wealthy people drink, isn't it?
"How have you been, sweetie?" Axel's aunt asked him.
"Very well, thank you."
"Your cousins have been asking of you."
"Oh really? I miss them too. Tell them we have a wedding coming up soon." Axel said, taking my hand.
I looked at him as he placed a kiss on my knuckles.
My heart fluttered. He looked at me with a smile.
I smiled too.
He is giving me a lot of courage and assurance right now.
And I am loving it.
"Aw," his aunt said.
I lowered my gaze as I sensed Axel taking his drink from his glass.
"So how did you two meet?" his aunt asked.
"Oh, at a....."
"My mall," his mother chipped in.
I held my purse nervously on my lap.
His aunt scoffed. "Your mall?"
"Yes. Isn't that so, girl?" His mother asked, making me look at her.
She is staring at me.
"Her name is Mia, Mom."
She threw him a glare, making him heave a sigh.
Her eyes moved to me.
"You met him at my mall, isn't it, Mia?" my name sounded like a dare.
I nodded. "Yes, ma'am."
"That's sweet." Axel's aunt said, making me look at her.
"It is good to see one of my sister's customers, you know"
I lowered my gaze, feeling weird.
Axel's mother scoffed. "The girl is not a customer, Jackie."
I squeezed my purse.
