Chapter 58 Unexpected
MIA
"No!" I opened my eyes, feeling sweat on my body as I stared at the ceiling.
I panted as I sat up. I looked at the couch.
No one is there.
I quickly reached for the lights and turned them on.
No one is in my room.
God, that was a dream.
It felt so real.
Oh God. I rested my face on my palm, sighing.
I moved my palm over my hair as my pounding heart took slow time to calm down.
Why is he hunting me like this?
Why is he hunting me? I haven't done anything wrong.
All I did was save Jay Jay.
What is this?
God, I can't sleep here.
I took the duvet that felt stuck in the nightmare off me as I got out of bed and hurried out of my room.
I took fast steps towards Axel's room door and stopped in front of it.
I inhaled and exhaled before knocking on his door.
No answer.
I didn't check the time before coming out.
He must be deeply asleep.
I looked down the hallway where my room is.
I can't go back.
Big Kai will hunt my sleep.
I knocked again.
"A...Axel?"
"Mia?"
Oh, thank God.
I heard him approaching. He opened the door and I saw him shirtless and in his pajama pants. His face is dull and sleepy.
Now I feel terrible for waking him.
"What's wrong?"
"Um...can I um....Can I sleep in your room? I uh....I had a nightmare and I am kinda scared."
He raised his brows.
"Please," I said regardless of how he sees me right now.
A kid or toddler, I don't care.
"Sure. Come in." He said, moving aside.
"Thank you," I said, walking in. He closed the door and I walked towards the other side of the bed where I usually sleep.
I got on the duvet and lay on the side, staring at the wall.
I sensed him getting on the other side of the bed and under the duvet.
"Good night," I said without looking at him.
He didn't respond but switched off the lights, leaving the tiny lights on the bed frame to illuminate the place.
I furrowed my brows slightly.
I let out breath, calming my nerves.
This is better than sleeping alone.
Even if Big Kai walks in, Axel can protect me from him.
They are both men, right?
Big Kai is more dangerous.
God, Mia stop making this worse.
I closed my eyes and began searching for sleep.
Next, I sensed Axel moving closer to me, making me freeze.
He rested his hand on my arm, making me open my eyes.
He buried his face on my neck, sniffing me.
"Fuck, you smell so good."
I gulped, feeling goosebumps clenching my skin as I recalled the second person that has done that and said that.
Big Kai.
My heart picked up.
"No one or you is allowed to touch you. Anyone who does is gonna be a dead person and you are not an exception."
I felt a nut in my belly as Big Kai's warning repeated in my head.
Axel moved his hand on my waist, making me hold down a whimper but he placed a kiss on my neck.
"I missed fucking you," he whispered in my ear.
My heart dropped.
"I can't forget how soaked you get by a slight touch." He rubbed his forehead on my neck and ear as his hand traveled up my breasts.
"I bet you are soaked right now."
I held his hand before he could grab my breast.
"Axel, please...."
"What's wrong?"
"I can't do this," I said.
"What do you mean, baby? You know you enjoy me fucking you," he said, chuckling a bit as he kissed my neck again.
"Axel, no. Stop." I said calmly.
He let out a frustrated sigh as he moved away and lay on his back.
I turned to him.
He is staring at the ceiling.
"I am sorry."
He muttered something under his breath.
"It's just.....I haven't forgiven you yet."
He scoffed. "What the.... why did you come here then?"
"I was really scared."
He scoffed. "Seriously? You really want me to believe that?"
I lowered my gaze.
"Just go to sleep." He said, turning to the other side.
I stared at him, feeling slightly awful.
I turned to my side and covered myself properly as Big Kai's words replayed in my head.
"What is mine, I don't fucking leave it alone."
I covered my face with my palms and let out a breath.
God, please don't let him find me.
Please.
NEXT DAY.......
I opened my eyes to the rays of the sun hitting my face, making me stir to the other side and my hand landed on a space, making me open my eyes.
Axel is in the bed.
I looked around the room but couldn't find him.
"Axel?"
No response.
Next, I heard voices coming from the living room.
I furrowed my brows as I looked at the alarm clock on the nightstand.
It is past nine am.
The voices came again.
I got out of bed and walked out of the room.
I walked along the hallway and towards the stairs.
"You are really doing this?" Amy's familiar voice made my heart clench as I descended a few stairs and I saw two of them talking.
"Leave, Amy. I mean it." Axel said.
I furrowed my brows.
Amy's eyes moved to me. She is dressed in a red crop top and black jeans.
"You blonde bitch!" she yelled, making Axel look my way as Amy walked past him and approached me.
"Amy stop!" Axel yelled, stopping her.
I stood still, staring at them.
"Let go of me, Axel."
Axel held her back.
"I need to teach this man thief a fucking lesson!" She yelled.
"I said stop for Pete's sake!" Axel yelled, pushing Amy backwards.
She fell on the floor, making me cover my mouth in absolute surprise.
Did he just.....did he just push her?
"Axel," she called, staring at Axel with surprise.
"You refuse to listen and this is what you get."
"Axel,"
"I am in love with Mia."
My heart reacted.
"I have always been in love with her. You and I can't continue being together. I am tired of bending to my mother's wishes and neglecting my own feelings. Mia is who I want, do you understand?"
"What are you saying, Axel? You can't be serious?!" Amy cried.
"Get up and leave."
God, am I really hearing and seeing this?
"Axel, don't do this."
Axel moved closer to her.
"Axel...."
He didn't respond but reached for her and picked her up.
"You bitch! What have you done to him?!" She yelled, attempting to run towards me.
But Axel held her waist.
"I am going to kill you!"
I held the railing design as Axel picked her up and threw her on his shoulders.
"Put me down, you asshole!" She yelled, struggling to get down as Axel headed towards the entrance door.
"How could you do this to me?! What the fuck is wrong with you?!" Amy yelled but Axel didn't listen and headed out of the house.
I descended the remaining stairs, dumbfounded to the core.
I walked towards the living room and Axel walked back into the house alone.
I stopped in my tracks as he approached.
His eyes moved to me and my heart raced.
His angry face was replaced with a concerned one as he moved closer to me.
"Are you okay?"
I nodded slightly.
"I am sorry you had to witness that. I meant it when I said she is gone for good. She is just being too stubborn and clinging to let go. I am really sorry." His eyes carried a lot of concern just like his words.
"Please don't be....."
I held his hand, making him look at our hands and then at me.
"Did you.....did you mean what you said about your feelings for me to her?"
He held my hand instead.
"I swear to you, baby. I am done bending to all my mother's wishes. I am making my own decisions from now on. And you are one of them."
I lowered my gaze, feeling my heart flutter.
"As a matter of fact, let's seal it now," he said, making me look at him.
He took out a tiny red box from his left pocket and went down on one knee.
I covered my mouth with my hands.
He opened the box and I saw a golden ring.
My heart fluttered more.
"Will you marry me, Mia Jefferson?"
Oh my God.
