Chapter 20
We made a quick run to Anna's house to see the same thing. Mason told me it was risky to directly teleport inside the dungeon, we finalized to teleport near the castle then walk to the dungeons from there. I was having a hard time controlling my fury and hatred towards the king. He was coming for me.
He not only had my real parents captive but also, my human parents and Anna’s too. He played with life of people like it is his plaything. This was all the more reason for me and the citizens of this kingdom to be furious. Not just citizens, even his wife, and son were suffering under his rule. They couldn’t make their choices and were forced to obey.
It took a while to calm myself and go to the destination. We could see the silhouette of the castle and its dungeons from where we stood clearly. I had teleported us a bit away from the castle. I was the decoy, I knew that I have to go in alone no matter what happens. Taking Mason inside with me was out of the question. He was still recovering and I didn’t want to put him in some kind of danger.
“Mason, please stay here. I will call you in case an emergency occurs. I asked him to stay where he was assuring him that I will call him in need.”
“Are you sure, you want to go there alone? He questioned me.”
Was I ready to face the person I hated the most? I wasn’t sure of the answer myself, but I am willing to face my worst nightmare if it is for the people I love and care about. I need to do this for myself for us. King Arthur had started it, I got to put an end to it. All of us have suffered enough during his reign, I want it to end.
“I am sure, I can face him. Don’t worry about it. I reassured him.”
He scanned my face and eyes before pulling me in a tight hug and letting go.
“Be safe, he told me before releasing my hand from his.”
He didn’t want to let me go inside alone, but I need to act as bait that the King thinks about as per the situation. I hurried to the castle dungeons, where he had asked me to meet.
I had been here a lot of times to provide blood to the half-blood, but it will be the first time that I am going inside to retrieve someone knowing that it is a trap. Taking a deep breath, I got out of my hiding spot walking towards the gate of the dungeons. The guards saw me and immediately opened the gate.
Looking at the now opened gate I told Mason I was going inside now. He permitted me and I proceed forward. The door immediately closed behind me trapping me inside the passage of cells. I walk down the passage looking at every cell to find our parents. I couldn’t feel them or King nearby, it only meant one thing.
I need to focus on my senses to know where they are. I concentrated on my breathing and tried to hear the slightest sound. I could hear the hushed voices of King and his cousin Evan. They were in some underground room. I went through each cell finally finding the location of the voices. Scanning the place further I found a knob like thing and pushed it in opening the door to the basement.
Without a second thought, I climbed the stairs leading me down. I was nervous my palms were wet with sweat as I reached the bottom of the stairs. I was preparing myself for our encounter when the smell of iron hit my nose. My throat started to feel dry as my gums burned my fangs sprouting out of their own accord.
Damn, they hurt our parents. The scent of blood was making me dizzy, I was angry and thirsty at the same time. Struggling between my hunger for blood and confrontation. I was scared to see them, I recollected myself and went inside the dimly lit room.
Taking in the room I saw my and Anna’s parents were tied to chains on the walls. It had my blood boiling, I was having an urge to kill both of them.
“Aria you need to calm down, I heard Mason telling me.”
His voice gave me strength that I couldn’t muster up. I was thankful for having him with me. I went ahead into the room, the King saw me and smirked. I just wanted to slap that smirk off his face.
“Oh look who is finally here, you sure took your sweet time to come. King Arthur said mockingly.”
“Leave my and Anna’s parents alone. You wanted me to come here. I am here, now let them go. I retorted.”
“Dear little niece do you think I will let you go that easily, do you? He said laughing.”
“You are not worthy of calling me niece, you held my parents captive and made the people’s life miserable. You aren’t even worthy of your title of “Alpha King. I blurted out angrily.”
Once again he started laughing like a maniac. I thought that he had gone crazy.
“Little Aria, come with us if you want them and your mate to be safe. He commanded.”
My expression got darker as he talked about my mate. Mason, where are you? I tried to call him out through our minds, but there was no response.
“What have you done to my mate, where is he? I asked him.”
“Evan go get her mate, she wants to meet him. He taunted.”
I could feel Mason’s presence as soon as they entered the room. He was tied with iron chains around him. I was relieved when I found no silver on them. What was I supposed to do now? I can’t take the King’s words for granted. He is a big liar, he wouldn’t release them even if I agree to go with them. He was a cunning man.
How was I going to get all of us out of here?
“Don’t listen to him Aria, take Mason and get away from here. My father insisted.”
“I can’t go without you, you are my family. I don’t care about anything else.”
“Evan, King Arthur called out to him a sly smile painted on his face.”
I could tell he was definitely up for something. Turning to my parents he placed an order on them so they couldn’t speak. A flash of silver caught my eye, I turned in time to see a silver knife thrown in Mason’s direction. Without thinking I stepped in front of him as the knife hit my shoulder blade. The silver of it made me wince with pain making me way dizzier than I was.
I saw Mason’s eyes flash red at the smell of my blood. He was in a panic, I could see my parents worried expression from the corner of my eye. All this fuelled my anger. He dared to hurt my mate, I was furious. The aura around my body started increasing even though I was hit with a silver knife.
The menacing aura of mine was enough to scare the hell out of them. I could see the color draining from their faces. I took a step forward, looking at the king holding his gaze.
“Scram out of here, and don’t you dare to show me your faces for the time being. I commanded looking at King Arthur and his cousin in an authoritative tone.”
They were practically shaking, bowing their head down to me before they ran off the basement cell. I went ahead opening the cuffs and chains on mine and Anna’s parents released them. Ethan was helping Mason, I didn’t notice when he arrived. Slowly the aura around me reduced as they were away now.
I practically began to sway while walking to my mom struggling to stay on my feet.
“Are you alright? I enquired looking at her relieved.”
She wasn’t hurt besides a few scratches of the metal chains and a few cuts. I winced with pain once again as the silver burned and hurt my shoulder. The world in front of me was blurry yet again.
“We need to hurry back fast, her shoulder is bleeding. I heard my mom say her voice laced with worry.”
It was the last thing that I heard, as my consciousness faded away. I was able to save them, I was grateful for being able to do the task.
