Chapter 19
I felt the darkness all around as I tried to regain my senses. I vividly remember my consciousness fading away as Mason pulled me close to secure my fall. We all had got safely to “Vampire Kingdom”. I could feel the silence around me. I was trying hard to wake up from the black nothingness around me.
Mason’s face popped in my head in my attempts to find a way. He was like a light in the darkness I was in. He was calm and smiling while looking at me. Suddenly I panicked remembering that he was hurt with a silver arrow. I pushed myself to wake up, I wanted to see if he was doing well.
I could feel my body now, soon enough I was able to feel my surroundings my body felt like it was on fire once again. I moved my fingers to see if I could move, I successfully felt my fingers move. When I tried to move my other hand I felt someone was holding it, not someone but my mate Mason.
I pried open my eyes as I felt Mason’s presence close to me. My eyes adjusted to the light in the room I was in. I was in a huge beautiful room with grey walls brown furniture. I gazed around to see a dozed-off Mason who was holding my hand. He must have fallen asleep looking after me. I felt guilty as he was hurt but, he still never left my side.
I grazed my thumb over the back of his hand looking at his peaceful sleeping face. The movement of my hand might have woken him up as he rubbed his eyes sleepily before opening them. His face brightened as he saw I was awake. Getting up from the chair beside the bed he clutched me to his chest in a tight embrace.
I wrapped my arms around his back returning the embrace and kissing his head.
“How are you doing? Is silver extracted out of your body? I asked him worried about his health.”
“You don’t have to worry Ari. As soon as you teleported us here we were rushed to the doctor. They took care of everyone’s injuries, I am alright now. I just need some rest. He explained.”
I still forced him to show me the wound, it had almost disappeared without a trace. It calmed me to a great extent to see he was well. Mason took my hands in his examining my palms. I questioned myself as to why he was inspecting my hands.
“Your palms are all healed too, he told me with a sigh of relief.”
When he mentioned that my palms are healed, only then did I realize they were badly blistered while removing the silver arrow from his arm.
“Where are others, are they alright? I asked him my voice laced with worry.”
“All of them are fine and resting at the moment. He answered.”
Mason helped me up from the bed so we could go and see others. He knew I wanted to. My throat felt dry, I asked Mason for water. Filling the glass with water from the bedside table Mason offered it to me. I gulped it down still thirsty, after drinking two glasses of water my throat was still dry and burning.
I decided to ignore it and went along with Mason to see other friends of mine. The room next to mine was Blair’s and Ethan’s, I was happy to see them doing well. The next room was granny’s, she was resting when we went there and decided not to disturb her. The last room around the corner was Prince Caleb and Anna’s, they were doing fine as well.
All of us were happy that we were fine now. I still felt something was missing while we were on our way back to the room. It was like I was forgetting a certain thing of importance. Oh God! our parents might be in danger because of us, especially mine and Anna’s. We need to save them this instant.
“How many hours I was out for? I enquired.”
“You were out for two hours. What’s wrong tell me? He questioned”
“I need to go back there right now. I told him.”
“Why do you need to go back? He asked raising an eyebrow.”
“Mine and Anna’s parents will be in danger. I need to go and get them to safety, I don’t think the King will be silent after knowing about us. I am sure he will go after our parents. I informed him.”
I got into the room and started to get dressed in clothes that will be comfortable and easy to fight in. I ignored my urge to dive my fangs deep into my mate’s neck. My throat burning yet again due to my ignorance.
“I am not letting you go alone in the enemy’s territory when I know he is after you. He retorted.”
“Sure, you can come with me. Go get ready, we will be leaving in a few minutes. I agreed.”
He immediately started to get ready. After he was done, he told me it was best if we teleported to my house. It would be bad if his parents saw us sneaking out while being hurt. He was right they won’t let us go if they found out about this. I decided to do as he told me.
Sucking in a deep breath I tried to calm my raging thoughts. Mason came and held my hand, we teleported inside my room. There was an eerie silence all around the house that unsettled me. I never felt this before in this house, it felt very different. It was the same house I was used to living in.
Has King Arthur done something to my parents? I slowly walked towards the door of my room opening it and stepping inside the living room. There was nothing out of ordinary in there but, it didn’t feel quite right to me. I took a look at the kitchen, everything was still in the same place.
My heart was thumping in my chest in anticipation of what was about to come as I neared my parent’s room. Mason was following close behind, it was like someone was keeping a watch on us every moment. Holding my breath I turned the doorknob to my parent’s room.
The room was dark, I walked inside searching for the switchboard turning the lights on. There was no one in my parent’s room, panic started to rise inside of me as they were missing. This only meant one thing, they were held as captive to lure me to the Kingdom. I scanned the room trying to find if the bastard has left anything behind.
After scanning the bed I saw a note near the pillow. It said, come to the castle dungeons if you want your and Anna’s parent’s alive. My blood started boiling reading the letter he had left. I was furious and wanted to kill him the instant I see him. I would have gone there in rage if Mason wasn’t holding my hand.
It was a trap, we both knew that very well yet we had to risk it to see if my parents were safe. It didn’t matter if my life would be on the line, they were in danger because of me. It is my responsibility to save them. Mason knew what I was thinking, he didn’t want me to use myself as bait to save them. But, saw that I was determined to do that and said yes without delay.
We were going to confront King Arthur and his crazy cousin Evan hoping that mine and Anna’s parents were unscathed.
