Chapter 21

I woke up to the sound of chirping birds, I felt my hand in Mason’s. I was in the same room I woke up in before. I might have fainted due to my injury, that silver knife hurt like a hell. I hope others are doing fine too. I have worried Mason too much all the time. I also need to know why I am a hybrid, and why I was hidden among the humans.

I don’t have to worry about King attacking today, it will be a full moon and a day off for everyone in the castle. I will ask granny the truth they have been hiding from me. I don’t want to be kept in dark anymore. I will not let her go anywhere without telling me who I am. Why are king and his cousin after me?

I tried to get up but, felt Mason’s head lying on my stomach. I stopped struggling so he could sleep, he woke up instead. Why do I have to wake him up? He might have been tired by the events yesterday. He rubbed his eyes sleepily looking at me adorably, I had the urge to pull him for a kiss. I caught myself before I did anything rash.

“You are already awake Aria. How does your shoulder feel, does it still hurts? He asked me inspecting my shoulder.”

“I am fine Mason, my shoulder doesn’t hurt anymore. Why did you trouble yourself by staying beside me all night? Are you alright yourself? I asked him worried about his health.”

“I feel great today, besides that, I know you want to find out the truth about yourself. Let’s get ready and meet others at breakfast, today is gonna be a long day with a full moon ahead. He added.”

We took turns getting ready and headed to the dining area. All the members were seated and waiting for our arrival including Mason’s parents. It was good to see all of them were doing well. My heart was hammering in my chest as I was about to know the truth about myself. Mason held my hand hearing my thoughts to calm me down.

We had our breakfast first so I had some time to calm myself for what was about to come. It was time now, all of them were looking at me with serious expressions. I held Mason’s hand tightly as not to get over-anxious about things granny was going to tell me.

“Aria, I know that you wanted to know the truth we have been hiding from you all these years. By everything that has been going around, you might have found out that John and Celia aren’t your real parents. Granny started.”

“Yes, I have known for some time that they aren’t my real parents. I had my doubts about it when I started to transform. I told her.”

“King Arnold and Queen Martha are your real parents, your father was “Alpha King” and mother a “Royal Vampire”. You were rumored to be hybrid, you were going to gain your hybrid self at your 18th birthday. Till that time you would remain human. King Arthur and his cousin had been trying to kill you multiple times, your parents had been worried about it.”

“Your mother was a wise woman she didn’t fall for their schemes when she was pregnant with you. King Arthur had been envious of his brother and wanted the kingdom for himself, he was against wolves, humans, and vampires being mates. He wanted a pure wolf kingdom, he was against his elder brother’s mate and tried to kill your mother multiple times too.”

“Your parents were constantly on edge because of him. When you were born your mother used to keep you with me while she was busy. It was only a week after your birth and your parents had to go for a meeting at the “Vampire Kingdom”. Your parents along with my son, daughter, and husband had left to go in the carriage leaving you and Blair with me.”

“On that same night, the carriage went missing with all the people inside it from the cliff we usually meet. As soon as I got the news I gave you to my human friends who you grew up with calling parents. I knew you would be safe in the human territory until you show your full form. Mason, Ethan, Prince Caleb, and Anna know about this too and they were helping us protect you.”

All these things were happening and I didn’t have a clue about it, they all were working behind my back to keep me safe from my uncle. The one who has been after me even before I was born. He even has my and Blair’s parents locked up in the special dungeons. I don’t know what condition they will be in, but for now, I could tell that they are alive. He was saying something about sacrificing me in front of my parents.

The reason I have felt the howl beneath us and the presence of the wolves underground really well than others is that I am their daughter. Everything makes sense now, the vision of the two people with a baby was my parents and me. It was the only time I got to see my real parents. I need to search for them and set them free as soon as I can. Maybe I will try to track their location today if I hear the howl.

Mason could read me like an open book, he knew what was going in my mind. I had pretty much figured the missing King and Queen were my real parents. After knowing all these things, the hate I had for King Arthur and his cousin Evan grew to a large extent. Not only did he make the people suffer but also my parents. I won’t let him off so easily after what he has done. He will be punished for his deeds.

“Thank you, granny, I am grateful to each one of you for taking care of me when I didn’t even know who I was. All of you have been by my side even in the worst times, I can’t thank you enough for that. I was able to come this far with your help, without you all supporting me I would have been a mess. I will bring peace back to our kingdom. I promised them.”

“I know you are the only one who can do that. I am sure that day will be coming soon. Granny declared.”

“It’s been a long talk, why don’t you all go and take some rest. I will ask the maids to deliver the lunch to you in your rooms. King Joshua insisted.”

“Yeah, I think we should go and rest. We will need some energy when we transform into our true selves. Granny agreed.”

We parted ways going back to our respective rooms. I and Mason were in the same room, it seemed like mates were sharing the room. The urge to claim my mate was getting stronger as the day was passing. We were in the same room and the pull was strong, it was hard to control and I was thirsting for blood.

I knew Mason could hear me as he was restlessly pacing the room. He was drawn to me equally and had a hard time keeping himself in check. As the sunset, it became even harder for us to be in control. Mason had already locked the room we were in, we both were on the edge as we neared our transition.

His eyes had started to turn red while his fangs sprouted out of his gums. My eyes were turning red and amber and I could feel the pointed canines on my lips. I could hear the sound of howling around as our friends in the other room shifted into their wolves. I was going to shift soon I could feel it. The burning sensation and dizziness returned to my body and I knew I could transform into a wolf any second.

My eyes turned amber and I could feel my body transforming itself getting ready for the change. I got on the floor on all fours as the skin transformed into the fur. A moment later I was no longer a human, in my place was a grey wolf with amber-colored eyes. I could see myself reflected in Mason’s eyes.

He came and sat beside me stroking my fur enjoying the wolf side of me. It didn’t last long I could feel the boil in my blood as I felt I was about to change yet again. I was transforming back into a human, not human but a vampire. I could feel my eyes changing to a bloody red color as I got back into human form, but this time I had fangs and black wings.

Mason had his eyes closed as he handed me a nightgown. I was glad to have it and pulled it on immediately covering myself. I craved for blood so badly as my vampire side came up. I could smell the sweet scent of my mate’s blood. I was about to pounce on him but, it started again. I felt like my whole body was on fire. I sat down where I was as dizziness took over.

Was I going to turn into something once again? It was so painful like all the bones and veins in my body were shattering embracing the change. Mason held me close as he could still feel my suffering. His being close to me gave me the strength I needed and I could feel myself starting to transition once again. Mason waited anxiously to see what my hybrid transformation be like.
