Chapter 9 Word Of Deceit
Jessica chewed subconsciously on her nails as she paced back and forth. She paused and stared at Chris who was sitting without uttering any word. He was usually the one pacing about.
She walked up to him and sat down next to him. “Why do you think your dad hadn't called to say anything?”
He shook his head slowly. “I don't know.” He responded dryly.
Jessica grunted. “Ugh, the anxiety is killing me! Why can't we just call him?” She asked with widened eyes. “Huh? What if something has happened already?”
“He said he would give me feedback later, remember? So let's just wait.” His tone was just as dry as before.
“Wait? Wait! What if something has already happened but he forgot to call you because of work or he can't even call you because he is ashamed he let you down? My love, we have to know! We will never really know if the cat in the box is dead or alive if we don't open it.”
“Jessica.” He suddenly turned to look at her. “Do you think Cara is really dating that man, what was his name? Something Armani.”
She sighed irritatedly. “My love! Why are you asking about her again? She is the reason we are both on edge right now! You cannot let your feelings interfere with this!”
Chris grunted softly as he ran his hands into his hair and brushed it back. He relaxed into the chair with a silent sigh.
Jessica felt so angry to the core. Her hands clutched in a fit of rage with her nails digging into her skin but she breathed out to calm herself. Releasing the ball of rage, she cupped his face in both of her hands.
“My love,” she said softly. “Look at me.”
Chris shifted his eyes lazily to look at her. He was a complete mess. Was this because of Cara? Did he love her that much? If he did then why did he ever cheat on her?
Jessica got rid of the thoughts and forced a smile to her face. “Cara is a bad person, she told me all the time that you are not capable of anything. Too much of an indecisive coward.”
“She really said that about me?” His brow arched.
She nodded her head. “Her exact words, not mine. You know I would never lie to you. You shouldn't let her words be the truth about you. I know you, I know that you are strong, very capable, decisive and amazing. So make up your mind right now because you can't have both.”
His brow twitched confusedly. “What do you mean by that?”
“I mean you have to choose between Cara and I. Remember that I am carrying your baby, we can make a family together, a happy family where both partners love each other truthfully this time. You love me right?” Her voice was like a cool breeze.
Like your deepest darkest desires whispering evil into one's ears. A deceitful liar who twisted the truth and made you believe black was a shade of white.
But Chris was a bigger fool than he was believed to be. All it took were a few words of deceit and a beautiful face to offer sex to fool him. He nodded his head.
Jessica was getting just the effect she needed on him. She continued. “You'll never leave me right? Promise me you'll never leave me.”
“I'll never leave you, I promise.” He responded.
She smiled and leaned closer to him. Pressing her lips against his softly and briefly, she pulled back and smiled again. “You made the right choice. Now all you have to do is forget about her, she disgraced you in the presence of her boyfriend, made a total fool out of you! She isn't worth your love.”
“You're right.” He responded in a determined tone. “She is a useless woman who couldn't even bear a child for me!”
“Exactly!” Jessica scoffed a laugh. “I can't believe that is the woman I used to call my friend. I know it's hard for you to let her go like that, believe me, it's hard for me too. But I have accepted the truth now that I know her for who she is and you should do that too. It's easier than you think. We have each other now.”
Chris let a smile make its way to his face. “I love you.”
She smiled back. “I love you too.”
He leaned in and kissed her again.
Though she was kissing him that very moment, letting him touch her body the way he pleased, Jessica felt very irritated by him.
How a man could be swayed over so easily by a few words was very strange to her but she loved how submissive he was to her.
She couldn't help but to think he would cheat on her too if he found a pretty younger girl. It made her angry.
‘What a pssy!’
