Chapter 79 Your Plus One
Romeo got to Cara's house that evening and she gladly offered him some green tea to replenish his strength lost at work. She herself had just returned not quite long.
She sat down next to her lover and stared confusedly at him. "You look troubled, is everything alright?"
He took a sip from his tea and placed it on the table. "I look like this thanks to fatigue. But, something noteworthy did happen today. Apparently, Jessica came by to my workplace to drop an invitation for me."
Cara's brow furrowed. "An invitation? What did she say to you?"
"She didn't wait to see me. She was 'busy'. But she handed the invitation to my driver and not even my secretary. They are having an anniversary and it is completely normal to reach out to an Armani on things like this but definitely not me. I might hold a prestigious position but my parents are considered to be higher than me and they would have gotten the invite. Or at least they should have.
"I don't know if I am being over calculative about this but I just find it strange. Maybe there is nothing there, maybe Jessica was being used as an errand girl to get the invites around and she really couldn't spare a moment to talk because she was truly occupied with dispatching the invites. I don't know."
Cara shook her head. "That Rhodes girl would never let them use her for something so trivial. And even if they did, she would secretly find a way to get someone else to do it or would have done it in disguise.
"There's more to this than we know. It is like an itch I just can't reach."
"Well let me help you itch it then." He said with a charming smile on his face.
Cara chuckled. "Focus. What do you think of doing? Will you attend?"
"I have to. But I have to go with a plus one." He explained.
"I'll be your plus one." She stated, not really like a straight statement but a request as well.
Romeo noticed the uncertainty in her tone and responded sharply; "Well of course you will! Do you think I would have chosen my driver over you?"
Cara smiled softly and sipped from her tea. His strong hand suddenly wrapped around her waist while the other took the cup from her hand. She felt blood rush to her cheek, she could never get used to that man being hers. "What are you doing, Romeo Armani?" She let her eyes squint as she tried to fight the smile tugging on her lips.
"About that itch..." his lips spread into a flirtatious smile as he leaned in closer to her. Pulling her to himself, he brushed his lips against hers softly.
Cara's body was filled with impatience at once. Whenever she was around him, she usually lost control. The simplest touch of his fingertips was painfully good and it made her greedily want more.
She let her arms slip around his neck as he pulled her even more closer to himself. Their lips pressed together in an instant and she refused to wait before parting her lips and letting him in.
His tongue seduced hers, caressed her mouth and explored its secrets. His hands slid under her top and caressed her skin, just before finding a hardened npple and teasing it.
She felt so ashamed at being thankful that she had taken off her bra. She moaned into his mouth, letting the greed for ecstacy take hold of her.
Her body reacted impulsively and climbed onto him, pressing her body ever so tightly against him. She enjoyed as his hands embraced her, welcoming her to himself like it was her home.
She broke the kiss only to ask, "wanna go inside?" Her voice trembled with impatience.
He shook his head with an inciting smirk. "Let's do it here."
She blushed and nodded. Without wasting any more second, she mashed her lips with his once more and she didn't even realize it when she slipped her clothes off her body.
She could never wrap her head around how good Romeo was in everything. He always pleased her whenever they made love, he took her to levels she had never been before. Levels she deemed impossible.
Yet it seemed he was going gentle on her. Her breath was always hard to catch. yet she never wanted him to stop. How could she when it was all too good to be real?
She didn't know how long they went on, but when they stopped, she collapsed into his chest breathing heavily. Like a baby, she remained there, enjoying the warmth their bodies emitted.
He decided to stay for dinner, she was not too happy about him having to leave every time he came by, she always found herself wishing they were living together.
Which made her mind wander back to the thought of marriage. She had been thinking about it ever since Romeo mentioned it. He didn't directly say he would marry her, though talks of marriage only made her feel he would.
She had no reason to be scared, it wasn't her first time. Or maybe that was reason enough. What if this marriage broke as well because of her?
Rather than burdening her mind with it, she decided to talk about it while they ate.
"You okay?" Romeo suddenly asked. "You look distracted. What are you thinking about so seriously?"
She smiled. "It's like I can never hide anything from you."
He chuckled softly, his smile warming her heart. There wasn't a man better for her than him.
"So tell me," he stared right into her eyes, his gemstone for eyes glowing with admiration and curiosity. "What has got you so distracted?" His brow arched.
Her smile began to fade slowly. She took in a deep breath, summoning the last of her courage and then she asked him. "Do you want to marry me?"
