Chapter 34 A Sweetheart
Cara's eyes widened. One point seven what? So what? She owed a debt in billions now? Could she ever pay it back in her lifetime? How much of her property would she have to sell before she would be able to pay him back?
The attendant nodded her head and began clicking on her laptop.
"You--you are R--Romeo Ar--mani?" The security man stuttered as he asked.
Romeo turned to look at him. "Oh, yeah, I am. Just another day out in a shopping mall trying to get my usual stealing on am I right?" He smiled.
The man immediately bowed his head. A deep bow. "I am so sorry sir! I--I didn't know it was you, sir! I didn't recognize you! I am sincerely sorry!"
Cara noticed Romeo's demeanor change, as if possessed by his other self. His brow arched up irritatedly and his smile vanished the sun in the night. "A thief huh?" His voice ran cold like a chill in the night.
Brads of sweat trailed down the man's face as he hung his head upside down in a bow. "I am so sorry sir! I would have never... I would have never acted so--"
"You should have never acted like that." Romeo cut him off. "I'm getting an apology now because I am rich and well known, what if it is somebody else? Would you have led them to the police station and demanded they get arrested?" His brow arched.
"I... I..." The man choked on his words.
"Alright, the station? Let's go! I am intrigued actually." Romeo stated.
The man immediately turned to face Cara who flinched backwards. "Ma'am! I acted wrongly! I am sincerely sorry!"
"What? Who? Me?" She pointed wide eyedly at herself.
"Yes ma'am! Please beg your boyfriend for me! I want you two know that I am deeply sorry. I should have known that you were a lovely couple who cared for each other and were just having fun."
Murmurs filled up the place. "Romeo Armani has a girlfriend?"
"Is that really him?"
"I didn't know he was dating anyone. She is actually pretty like a doll!"
Cara smiled shyly. "Romeo, come on, let's just take our things and leave. He has already apologized, we should just forgive him and leave."
"Weren't you mad at him for what he did?" His eyes glistened with anger. "I asked for a detailed apology, I still want it tendered to my company and to Cara Smith as well. If I hear from her that no mail was sent to the Smith's company then you'll be sorry for what you did. Truly."
"Cara Smith of Smith's company..." The man muttered to himself. The Smith's company was already well known. The man gasped. "Ma'am! I am so sorry! I will send the detailed apology, I promise!" He was feeling like all the blood in his body was trailing down to his head.
People began to murmur again. "Cara Smith! Wow! Who knew they were dating?"
"I had my doubts but now they have confirmed it!"
"This is gold! I am so uploading this!"
Cara felt her throat tighten as she choked on her saliva. "Romeo!" She hardly whispered. Taking a step closer to him, she continued. "People can hear you! We will definitely be on the front page first thing tomorrow morning thanks to you! Let's just leave!"
Romeo let out a gentle sigh. He hadn't realized how angry he had become. With another calmed sigh, he said. "Can you find someone help us carry these things down to my car?"
"I'll help you sir!" The security man responded sharply.
With a scoff, Romeo turned and walked away. Cara chuckled nervously as she followed after him.
Arriving at the final floor, they all walked out--Romeo, Cara, the security man and several other ladies who helped carry their things-- of the shopping mall and stopped next to Romeo's car.
"Thank you for your purchase." The staff members bowed their heads deeply in respect.
Romeo got into his car still all red and puffed like a puffer fish and Cara bowed her head before entering. With a sigh, she turned to look at him. "Have you lost your mind? Cause I'll help you find it."
He exploded at her face. "He called us thieves and wanted to get us arrested? Why? Because he thought we were nobodies he had power against! That's just unfair!"
She scoffed. "Yet your girlfriend is the hot tempered one..." She muttered to herself as she did her seatbelt.
He smiled. "Sorry, I didn't mean to ruin the mood. I don't know why I got so mad, maybe because he didn't respect you." He turned to look at her.
She looked back at him. "Huh?"
"Well, he kept talking back at you like he didn't care. He even looked like he would raise his hand at you, I don't know what I would have done then." His tone had calmed an his gaze burnt with sincerity.
She had forgotten about how his words made her feel, how his gaze made her stomach flutter, how his smile made her heart skip a beat.
He had a smile that made the news, eyes that made the moon feel jealous, laughter that made music feel envious.
Everything about him was like a beautiful work of art made by very careful hands.
"Worry about yourself," she looked away from him as her cheeks burnt red. "He wouldn't have let you leave even though you were nice to him."
"I'm fine." He said plainly. "which of the dresses did you like the most?" He asked.
She turned back to look at him. "Huh? Why?"
"Well we have a dinner date with your family and I want you to look nice. I think I like the first red you put on. I'll excuse you to get changed. Hurry up alright?"
"Wait, what? Hey--" before she could speak, he got out of the car and closed the door behind himself.
She found herself smiling. Romeo was really a sweetheart.
