Chapter 35 Divorce Papers
Jessica paced about in her living room. Ever since she caught Chris cheating, he was yet to return home. What if he never returned? Could he really abandon her and their smile child just like that?
Why did he have to cheat on her? Of all the women in the world, she deserved to be loved by him forever. So why cheat?
She felt like she was going crazy. Cara's words kept coming back to haunt her, why did she have to be right about Chris?
She growled and pulled at her hair monstrously. What was she going to do with that son of a--
"Is something the problem?"
Jessica's head snapped to the side at the abruptness of a voice disturbing her concentration. She was about to spit out all of the venom inside her at the person when she realized it was her mother in law.
"Oh," she said softly. "Nothing, nothing is wrong. I was just... Uhm..."
"Is the baby driving you crazy with his tears?" Her mother in-law's brow arched as she asked. The woman walked sophisticatedly to the couch and sat down.
"Oh yes! Yes!" Jessica hastily replied. "He just keeps crying and crying and I don't know what exactly he wants me to do." A nervous chuckle escaped her mouth. "But what can I do, right? A mother has to bear those things."
"You can just give him to a maid to take care of. You don't have to bear those things." Her motherly plainly responded. She rose to her feet to walk away but turned back to face Jessica. "My son, where is he?"
"Huh?" Jessica's eyes widened. "Oh right! Yeah, he's uh he's out. On a work related issue." Her hands fiddled together nervously.
She felt even more nervous when her mother in-law's eyes landed on her fiddling hands but the woman simply nodded and walked away.
With a sigh, Jessica fell into the chair. When would that son of a bastard come home? Why did he have to treat her such way?
Her phone buzzed and she angrily picked it up. To her surprise, it was a message from Chris, asking her to come over to the club.
"That son of a btch!" She harshly whispered. "Does he live there now or what?"
Hurriedly, she took her car keys from the table and rushed out without even thinking to inform anyone of her departure.
Arriving at the club, she went straight into the room where she and him and cheated on Cara. Where he had cheated on her.
Slamming the door behind herself, she flung herself at him, dragging at his collar. "You son of a btch! How dare you do something so heartless and cruel to me? Huh?! After everything we have been through together!" Her eyes were as wide as they could get.
"And what is that?" Chris plainly asked, hands buried in the depth of his pocket and a calm expression on his face.
"What?" Jessica's eyes squinted.
"What have we been through together? Tell me! Did you suffer with me when I had nothing? Oh right, I always had everything. What did you do? You came into my life to enjoy so I should be the one asking you, how dare you do this to me you btch?! After everything I have done for you!" He dragged her and flung her to the floor.
Her eyes widened in fear and awe as she hit the ground. Her knee scraped the ground and fresh blood seeped from the cut.
But the wound didn't hurt her, her heart did. "Chris, how... Why..." She swallowed hard. "I gave you a child, what you have always wanted. A son! The best kind of child you could ever ask for!"
"What makes a son better than a daughter?" Chris' brow arched. "Huh? You brought a delinquent into this world and you want me to be proud? Huh?! I always wanted a daughter, what are you going to do about that?"
Jessica's eyes squinted. "What? You were happy when you learnt I was pregnant, you never complained for once until it was a few months to delivery which confuses me, why did you change so much?"
"I always wanted a daughter. But guess what? I am glad you didn't have a daughter because she will be a useless whore like you." He spat out disdainfully.
Jessica rose to her feet. "Watch your tongue, Chris! I only became a whore because of you!" She pointed her finger at his face.
"No!" He slapped her hand away. "You only became a whore for money. I know that much, I am no fool. So stop acting like a good wife who cares about her husband's whereabouts. Stop pretending like you worry when I don't come home at night, stop asking me how my day was and what I would like to have for dinner.
"Stop all of that bullshit! I don't give a fck okay? Stay out of my life forever. If you know you can't become my freaking shadow then we might as well get a divorce here and now."
"What?" Jessica watched him walk towards a drawer and open it.
He picked out some papers and walked back to her. "I am tired of your bullshit, I realize that I don't even want the freaking baby. I never wanted any of this, you forced this decision on me."
"Chris, you have always been indecisive and irrational, think carefully on what you say this time because my baby and I are your family! We are your very own family, Chris!" She stare firmly.
Yet Chris shook his head with a torturing laughter. "Family? No, you are not my family. I know my family and I know that it isn't you."
"So who is it then?" She demanded sternly. "Cara? That btch who doesn't give two fcks about you?"
"That's none of your business." He threw the paper at her with a frown on his face. "Keep it with you, when you can no longer abide by my rules, sign it and get the fck out of my house. I'll pay you a good price for alimony."
Jessica's eyes widened.
