Chapter 161 His Past, Present, Future.
Cara stared at her phone, beyond confused. Who could ever do such a thing to her? Why would someone write something so disturbingly annoying about her?
What even made her more disheartened more was that it all sounded so true. Whoever wrote it fixed the pieces where they were not built for but made it look like an amazingly done puzzle anyway.
Romeo let out a soft sigh as his eyes landed on his woman. Disturbed, distracted, disorganized.
She sat on the sofa in the living room, back straightened in a bold position, yet her face was distorted with fear and her muscles tightened, feeling so insecure and disturbed.
His heart tore apart, it broke him so much to see her like that. It felt like someone had purposely drove a dagger into his heart and rather than pulling it out, the person spun in around in his chest.
He walked over towards her and crouched down in front of her like an adult would do to a sad or worried child.
He was there, staring at her, yet she did not stare at him. Rather she stared into nothingness, not even noticing the man that was right there. Right in front of her.
He reached out and touched her hands that were fixed firmly on her laps. Her eyes darted for his in an instance, she finally saw him. She said nothing though, she did not know what to say.
His emerald eyes seemed to glow, burning through her soul, making her want to tear apart more. Not from fear, but from something else.
For the first time in forever, she felt so insecure being with him. But it wasn't his fault, but hers. She did not know what could possibly be running through his mind. What was he thinking about her? Did he believe the write up? Who wouldn't? It was so perfectly crafted.
Before she could even realize it, her lips parted and words left them. "It's not true." She said, putting up a defense. "What they say about me, it's not true. You were never my target, I never crafted this, I have to be a psycho and a stalker and every other bad thing in this world to orchestra something like this and pull it off-- i swear i did not do it, i never wanted to-- I mean i--" her voice broke off suddenly.
Her eyes flickered with surprise as his firm hands slid across her cheeks, wiping a tear away from her face.
His gaze burnt like never before, the sun was a weak comparison to the affection that burnt in his magical eyes.
She did not want to cry, she had refused to break down, it was all a hoax so it should not have any effect on her. But the man in front of her broke down her walls, destroyed the damn dam that held back her tears.
Water flowed like water fall from her eyes, trailed down her face like melting crystals, and burnt her skin like lava.
She had never felt so weak, so fickle and broken.
Romeo was silent, watching the water that wet her face roll down her pale skin. He never broke the gaze as she bore into his eyes, never faltered. Not even once.
His lips crinked in a smile, soft and affectionate. "I know." He responded, his voice as a breeze on her skin.
They brushed against her ears, making them prick. Her eyes widened softly. "You know?" She asked him in surprise. "How do you know? Why would you believe me so blindly? Why don't you have questions? Why is there not a hint of doubt in your eyes?" She showered him with questions.
"Because... I love you." His voice was ever so soft as he spoke.
She did not know why she was so infuriated, he loved her too much. Why would someone love to such an extent? Why was he so sweet and nice to her? Why did he care?
"Why are you being like this?" She snapped, springing to her feet. She walked away but stopped and turned around to face him. "You should not trust me like this? Don't be stupid, Romeo!" The words left her mouth harsher than she had expected.
She wanted to stop, why was she feeling so insecure? What was with the sudden wall she was building around herself?
Maybe because she did not want to get hurt again.
Rather than getting angry, Romeo rose to his feet and walked over towards her. "In case you forgot since the last time I told you," he said as he reached for her hand and took it in his.
"Through all the good times and through all the bad," raising her hand to his lips, he placed a soft kiss on it and then drew her closer to himself.
"I'm going to love you way after forever and even when the earth ends, I'll love you in space." His lips placed a soft kiss on her eyelids as a single tear rolled down her face.
"I'm going to love you through all the whatever and through all the fights that I know i won't win. And as the days pass by and we are getting older, I'll love you over and over again. Because you are my past," another kiss landed on her other eye, "my present," another, this time on her reddened nose. "And my future." A final kiss on her lips, as soft as the touch of the breeze.
Cara was silent, she had no words to say.
She felt like a dumbstruck fool, guilt finally crept in. She never believed in true love, so she always doubted Romeo's love for her.
'It is all word of the mouth and not the heart' she always told herself.
But hearing those words from him, she, with no doubt, believed in his love for her. Every single doubtful feeling she had ever felt suddenly left her body but not without leaving a bitter taste in her mouth.
Her weary head fell on his chest, her body allowed succumbed, letting his arms wrap her in a firm and tight hug.
Silently. She sobbed.
