Chapter 160 A Change In The Plan
"Cara Smith, once Cara Knowles, now planning to become Cara Armani. What kind of woman is she? A gold digging btch!
"Cara Smith grew up in a struggling family whose only asset was a company that could crumble at any moment. The Smith family could not carry their own bills, talk less of paying their own staff members!
"The company was at its lowest, about to crumble to the ground, just in time to save it, Cara Smith became Cara Knowles.
"The marriage was sudden, the public had never expected the Knowles family to settle for less, a girl with no story to tell. No dime to her name. But them she became someone after marrying Chris Knowles, the only child of the Knowles family, and saved her father's company just in time with a big investment from Micheal Knowles, her father in law at the time.
"The Smith company started to thrive, getting back on its feet. Cara became someone through the help of a single ring around her finger.
"Of course, we all know that Chris Knowles is a sweetheart, kind and generous, but suddenly, they divorce-- a divorce instigated by Cara herself-- and Cara moved on to her next victim, her main target from the start. Romeo Armani.
"The Armani family is the backbone of the Knowles family, owning over ninety percent of the shares and helping them stand strong on their feet. The family has one child, a son that thrived in the world of business and acclaimed so much wealth to his name, more than the Knowles family's wealth put together.
"Romeo Armani was Cara's target all along, she just needed a way into his life which Chris Knowles was the perfect tool. Now, she has taken complete control of her father's company, rewriting all the documents to her name, threatened Chris Knowles and his new wife, reminding them that when could make Romeo pull out his support if they messed up.
"Now she plans on tying the knot with our beloved Romeo Armani soon and bring doom to his life. All she ever wants is money and fame. A glutton digging for gold. Cara Smith."
Sarah broke out in a loud laughter as she read through the article her journalist had written. "This is a good one! I can't lie! Oh how I wish I could see the look on her face!" Her laughter continued.
Jessica happened to walk into the living room at that moment, her night had been filled with the fear of Chris suddenly driving a knife through her heart since her secret was in the open.
Jayden must have ratted her out since she could not give him the outrageous sum he asked her for. His ruthless decision, however, would not make her change her mind about the money. She didn't have it anyway.
Her hair was messed up, her eyes were hollow and sunken, her lips looked so chapped. At the slightest touch of breeze, she flinched, fearing it was a knife or a deadly weapon.
His words made her so afraid that she shuddered for no reason. "I know that I am not Jeremy's father," he had said to her, "I can't believe you thought you could fool me forever. I always knew Cara was a better woman than you, you just wait and see what I will do to you and that irritating maggot you call a son." The cold in his voice had seeped through her skin and never left.
Now she never wanted to let her son out of her sight for once with the fear that Chris, as psychotic as he was, would chop him into tiny pieces and feed him to the dogs.
That was why he was held tightly in her arms and pressed to her chest. Like she had held him all night.
She was startled by Sarah's laughter but calmed. Rather, curiosity crawled into her skin, making her take a step forward towards Jessica. "What are you laughing about?"
Sarah turned around to the voice of Jessica but suddenly flinched. "Jsus Christ! What in the name of heaven happened to you?!" She spat out.
She never knew someone could change so quickly over night. But then a thought crawled to her mind, her son had been abusing Jessica physically the night before, could it really be that...? "Did... Chris... Did he do this to you?" She felt hesitant to ask.
Jessica swallowed but said nothing in response. Rather, she repeated her question. "What are you laughing about?" Her thin brow arched up in curiosity.
Sarah cleared her throat and handed her phone to Jessica. "I did what you asked, I delivered more than what you ordered. I hope you are pleased enough and will let me stay? Keep my secret."
"What did I ask..." Jessica could not think straight, she could not even remember what she had asked Sarah to prove her stance in the family.
As she accepted the phone, she held Jeremy firmly in her arms, then began to scroll through the message.
Her eyes widened. "What have you...?"
Finally her memory jogged and she remembered what she had asked Sarah to do. Cara must be in so much distress at the moment, normally she should have been satisfied with the thought of that, but she felt even worse than she already did.
She was going to get kicked out of the family anyway and it was no one's fault but hers. She certainly could not let Cara go down the drain with her.
Not because she cared that much for Cara, but because she could not stand by and watch the Knowles family get the joy they certainly did not deserve.
"So... What do you--" Sarah gasped, startled as her phone fly towards her direction.
Jessica raced back into her bedroom wordlessly, leaving Sarah confused and startled, not even turning back to spare another glance at her mother-in-law.
Sarah sprung to her feet, "Jessica! Jes--" a grunt left her mouth. "What an annoying weird piece this one is..." She grumbled.
