Chapter 135 Unwanted Convo
Cara would be lying if she said she was not confused by the sight that played before her eyes. If she was not mistaken, that was Jayden, Jessica's ex boyfriend. So why were they together and acting like a cute couple?
But was that really her business? Jessica had laid low for a while now and she had peace so that was all that mattered. As long as she was left alone and no evil scheme was being plotted.
Cara picked up her cup filled with tea and sipped from it.
"So how are you feeling right now? You haven't been feeling nauseous right?" Abigail asked her.
Cara nodded her head with a soft smile. "Yeah, thank you so much. How have you been? How are things at work?"
"Oh I'm on work leave. I can rest for a few weeks which means I have a lot of time to hang out with you." She responded with a smile.
Cara let out a soft laugh. "Well I'm excited to hear that. I look forward to spending time with you."
"So your wedding is coming up like you said before, I am excited that you invited me." Abigail squealed in excitement. "I have been thinking, what am I going to wear? I want to look good–"
"Cara!" Jayden exclaimed from behind Abigail. "Oh my goodness! You look so beautiful! I can't remember the last time that I saw that pretty face of yours. Oh my goodness, are you married?"
Cara did not know how to respond to the questions he was asking her. She did not know how to respond to him at all. Maybe because she did not want to.
Jayden had always been a trouble maker and the last thing she wanted was to have anything to do with him. She had not even thought about him in a very long time.
He and Jessica had broken up for over three years now but she knew that their relationship was on and off. They always broke up and got back together. She could have sworn Jessica was still seeing him after they broke up but what did it matter to her?
"Oh my goodness, don't you remember this face anymore?" Jayden asked Cara as he noticed that she did not provide a response to his earlier questions. "It's me, your friend– oops! Sorry, I meant your ex friend's boyfriend... well ex boyfriend." He groaned softly. "Ugh! Too many exes, am I right?"
Cara smiled softly. "Hello Jayden, it has been a minute. How have you been?" She involuntarily asked.
He pulled out a chair for himself and sat down with the back of the chair facing front instead. He leaned on the chair and let out a soft sigh. "Oh you know... I have just been here and there. I have missed you so much, did you not miss me? Oh look at your cute face–" he reached out to touch her cheek but Cara flinched backwards.
"Oh..." he lowered his hand. "So sorry about that. Did not mean to upset you. It's just been so long and I have missed you."
"Oh yeah..." Cara responded with an awkward chuckle. "So... you and Jessica are seeing each other again?"
"Hey, I'm no snitch okay? I heard about what happened between you and Jessica and I know that you two are no longer friends." He responded in a slightly firm tone.
"Oh..." Cara moaned softly. "Well I didn't mean to– sorry, I just wanted to make conversation." She regretted ever asking the question in the first place.
"Well..." Jayden looked back at Jessica where she was still seated, covering her face from the shame she was feeling. He turned back to Cara and leaned in closer to her, "I'm not a snitch," he whispered. "but we have sx last night in my car." It was more of a horse whisper.
Cara was surprised by his confession. Oh..." was all she could say in response.
She knew Jessica was a whore and she slept around with just about anybody but her ex boyfriend? Did she not know the danger of doing something like that with a man like Jayden?
But was that really her business?
So she nodded with a smile instead. "Alright. It was nice seeing you again and I hate to say goodbye too quickly but I am actually in the middle of a very important discussion with someone."
Jayden turned his head to look at Abigail, looking her up and down, he did not know who she was, not why Cara was spending time with someone like her. He did not know her but he already judged her and he did not like her.
"Is she Jessica's replacement?" He asked, not bothering to hide the disgust in his tone. "She's not even half as good as Jessica, she's pretty, I'll give you that but that's all there is to her."
"Jayden!" Cara snapped, calling his name sharply. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her rising anger. Exhaling softly, she spoke in a steady voice, "I don't appreciate your comment about my friend. It was not needed so whatever your opinion is about my friend, keep it to yourself."
Jayden was silent, staring at the woman sitting before him. When did she get so outspoken? He questioned her words with the arch of a brow but Cara did not seem to be intimidated by him a little bit.
He let out a scoffed laugh and raised his hand like he surrendered. "Sorry, so sorry that I made you angry. I did not mean to get on your nerves." He turned his head to look at Abigail. "Ma'am, I am sorry. Please understand where I am coming from, she ditched my girl– though for reasonable reasons– and now she is hanging out with you."
Abigail let out a soft laugh. "It's fine, everyone has freedom of speech right?"
Jayden nodded his head with a soft smile. "You are chill, I like that. Well if you will excuse me, I have to go back to my girl." He turned to look at Cara and smiled. "Cara, i will see you again, soon hopefully."
Rising to his feet, he walked away with a slight bow. He could not help but to think to himself, Cara was a different woman now, a woman that intrigued him.
"That little brat has always piqued my curiosity..." he thought to himself with a soft laugh.
