Chapter 128 One Week
Jessica sat comfortably on the bed and looked up at her husband. She suddenly broke out in a laugh that had Chris wondering what was so funny.
A single tear drop trailed down her face and she wiped it away with her index finger. A soft sigh drew from her mouth and she felt a sense of relief wash over her. She looked up at Chris and rose to her feet with the grace of a queen. "So..." she uttered. "You want a divorce but you don't want people to know, not even your own family. Heard and understood, but I have one question. Why? I mean I know we don't love each other anymore but I thought we were going to tolerate one another, was that not the plan?" Anger had befan to rise inside of her, causing a storm inside her gut.
"Tolerate? Yeah i tried but it only made me realize that not every one are tolerable. You for example, it is really impossible for anyone to even think about tolerating you–"
"And you think you are the one that is tolerable?!" She cut him off sharply and angrily. "Huh? Tell me Chris! Do you even have the slightest idea of the things you do to me?! The things you put me through! The horrible feelings you plant inside of me and water every single day! Do you even have the slightest idea??!" She barked out angrily at his face.
She did not even pause to breathe as she poured out her anger at him. She felt tears prick at her eyes but she told herself she would not cry, not anymore. Chris was a man undeserving of her tears, not even a single drop.
She had never felt so heavy hearted, her soul was drenched from the storm that raged on and on inside of her. She found it hard to breathe.
"You are a monster Chris, that is all you have ever been to me and I can't believe that you do not even see that. You were supposed to love me, for better or for worse Chris, you made those vows! Do they not even mean anything to you?" She demanded.
Chris only let out a soft chuckle. "For better or for worse?" He scoffed. "I did not willingly make those vows with you. The one woman I made it with from the start is all that really matters to me." He took a step towards her, his towering figure looming over her and making her take a hesitant step backward. "I want her back, don't you understand?"
"But she doesn't want you anymore, can you not see that? Are you so blind to that? Can i call this oblivious or just really blind and stupid?!" She yelled at his face.
A groan escaped her mouth as Chris suddenly gripped her forearm and squeezed it. His eyes glared death at her and she could feel her soul melting away from the fear feasting on it.
"Don't say that to me, you are the one who is blind and stupid to see that you are standing between our love. Cara truly loves me and she wants me as well but she still cares about you as a friend and she doesn't want to hurt your feelings by taking me away from you. But if i can make it clear to her that you and I are no longer a thing then she will defintrly come back."
Jessica shook her head, her eyes failed her as tears trailed down her cheeks. Her arm hurt like it was about to fall off but she was powerless against the monster that was holding her.
She tried though to shrug away from his hold but it was all useless. "Stop it, Chris you need to open your eyes and see. This is the last chance I am giving you, you need to see that you will regret being so oblivious to the real truth. If you truly want to end our marriage then I will but you have one last chance. One week. Come back to me in a week's time and tell me what you really want to do." She said amidst her tears.
Chris let out a soft sigh and pushed her to the bed, she fell with a grunt. "I don't need a week, I don't even need a single day or another second to think about it, I know what I want." With a smirk, he turned around and walked away.
"One week!" She exclaimed, her voice seeing him off as he left the room.
Jessica broke out in tears, her heart aching more than her arm. All she wanted was to be happy, why was that something so hard for her to achieve?
Cara was happy with Romeo, how did she attain happiness so quickly while she kept failing at each attempt to attain her own?
After everything she had given to Chris, she even gave up her position to save his family from falling into a life time of debt, even though she did what she did to save herself as well. But still, she gave him a son as well, she did everything to please him at first, but he just did not see her.
Why did he refuse to see her? Why did he refuse to love her? Why did he not want to see her smile? Did he hate her that much? Was that it?
She remained on the bed for a while, letting her thoughts create a web in her mind. Moments passed by with her just sitting there, later, she rose to her feet and wiped her tears.
Adjusting her clothes, she walked out of the room like none of that had ever happened. Was she really in love with Chris and afraid to lose him? Or did she not just want Cara to feel like the center of attraction every single time?
Right, that was it. She did not really care about Chris, it hurt, but she did not care. Her main target was Cara. Cara was the one she wanted to see sad and heart broken. Everything needed to be stolen from her.
Every... single... thing...
