Chapter 125 Dragged To The Room
All eyes were on Jessica but she chose not to care. She felt infuriated from the inside but had to wear a casual look on her face just because she did not want to give Sarah the satisfaction of a reaction.
She focused on her food like she had not just announced that she would be stepping down from the position she had not even gotten the chance to uphold.
Sarah wanted to break out in a laugh, knowing well that Jessica was breaking down on the inside.
She was finally having the last laugh. Or at least she was laughing, even if it was not the last. Jessica had always been the one laughing since the beginning but finally, she got the chance to laugh as well. Who knew she would live to see that day?
She ate her food without saying a word though, even though she was smiling from ear to ear.
Jessica though insisted on not staring at the woman. She let out a soft sigh, "i cannot believe that I am the one taking the fall for someone else's mistakes. Either way, I am only doing this because I sincerely do not want to throw you into a life time of repaying debts." Jessica said.
Sarah snorted a laugh.
Chris stared at his wife with an arched brow, questioning the words that had just left her mouth. "Did you just say you are taking the fall for someone else's mistakes?" There was a hint of what seemed to be anger and disgust in his eyes as his facial expression as he spoke.
He continued. "Someone else's mistakes? Really?" He questioned again, emphasis on the word else's. He scoffed a laugh. "This entire family was about to take a fall for you, your foolishness and worse, it was not voluntarily.
"You would have caused a lot of trouble for this family and even financially as well. You could have thrown us into a life of debt and not just us but our generations to come as well!
"Do you have any idea how much it is we would have been owing the Armani family had it been they did not also offer to kick you out of the business for peace? We would have been owing them several billions that you could never ever comprehend to pay. Not in this lifetime at least!
"Do you know what our entire family's net worth is? That is every single one of us combined together, our net worth could not even dream of paying back the money we owe them."
Jessica felt so angry to the bones that her husband was talking to her like that but she always felt a little bit afraid from what he was saying.
How much exactly would they be owing the Armani family? Her own net worth was merely millions so she would never be able to even dream of paying them back.
Maybe it was even best that she was willing to give up her position rather than paying the debt.
But she would not sit by silently at herself be humiliated by her husband who did not even care about her. "How dare you raise your voice at me? Do you know that I am giving up my dream here just to save this family? A family that does not even care about me! Do you know how annoying it is?
"You don't even think about what I'm going through! You don't even care about me or anything that goes on in my life! Do you know that you are the main cause of this entire issue? You are the one that pushed me to react like that that night, I was so happy because of my new position and I would have never foolishly let it go just like that for nothing's sake!"
She sprang to her feet in anger, shoving her chair behind her so hard that it toppled over. She was fuming, chest rising and falling uncontrollably and fists clenched in anger.
"I definitely will not be interfering in any of your useless matters again just so you know, call the secretary seat yourself and tell them everything you wish to tell them. About her decision and whatever bloody scheme it is you have made. I don't care and I don't give a fck!
"And don't even think that you can come to me for any advice or whe you need an extra hand because I will never be there for you."
Chris broke into a loud guffaw, mocking every single word that had escaped from his wife's mouth. He rose to his feet and met with her gaze. "You are so useless Jessica, the fact that you even think that you are important in the slightest way is what makes me laugh. You don't mean the slightest thing to me and you are just here as a figure head and nothing more."
Jessica growled softly underneath her breath and turned to walk away but she felt a firm grip around her wrist holding her back and she turned back around with a soft gasp.
She was confused to see Chris holding her hand and the words he said to her next made her even more confused. "I want to talk to you, come with with me right now."
What could he possibly want to discuss with her enough for him to want to pull her side and talk to her in secret?
But she struggled to free herself. "leave me alone, I don't care about anything you want to say to me. I don't want to hear it."
His grip though was very strong and she found it impossible to pull free from his hold. She struggled relentlessly though to release herself.
"I don't want to hear it. Let me go!"
Chris pulled her along with him without even pretending like he heard her complaints and disapproval to follow him.
Dragging her to his room, he tossed her carelessly on the bed and slammed the door behind himself, locking it as well.
Jessica was confused and somewhat afraid, she just stared in silence.
