Chapter Thirty

"What are you guys doing here?"

I blushed, "Trying to make some eggs to eat but I guess I’d stick to the granola bars." I said.

I grabbed two granola bars and exited the kitchen.

Why didn't I just eat the granola bars in the very first place?I handed one of the bars to Jonas.

"Jaden, do you want one?" I asked, turning around.

He scoffed and turned his heels as he gruffly replied. "No."

I frowned. "What's up with him?"

Jonas shrugged.

"Jonas, did you notice how Jaden has been acting these past few days?" I asked Jonas, frowning.

Ever since the engagement dinner, Jaden seemed even more distant than before. He stopped talking to me and he didn't walk into our bedroom once, not even once! He barely even looked my way. I felt as though he was avoiding me and that really made me sad.

Did I do something wrong?

Is it because we are engaged now?

Did I say something wrong at the event?

What did I do wrong?

"I guess." Jonas said, looking at Jaden as he walked out of the living room.

"Did you do something to him?" I asked, looking at Jonas.

"I didn't do a single thing to him."

"Then why is he acting like that?" I frowned, staring at the television in the living room.

"Whenever he starts acting like that, it means that he’s mad about something." Jonas said,

looking at me.

"At what?!" I asked.

He shrugged. "You have to ask him yourself."

"What?!" I said, gawking at him. "Me?"

"Yeah, bye, I’ve got to go check on Brie."

He got up and left the living room, leaving me all alone.

I turned my attention back to the movie. I was just watching the Vampire Diaries all by myself.

My mind drifted to the ring.

"The promise ring. Was he still mad about that?" I whispered to myself.

"No, that was a long time ago. He definitely isn't mad about it." I said, shaking my head.

"And it's probably the cheapest ring he could find in the jewelry store."

"But, it has a really huge rock on it… it's probably expensive."

"No, but he's not mad about it, yeah, he's not mad." I repeated.

Why did I feel like I had to make myself believe it?

I shook my head. Who cared about it?

I took a deep breath and exhaled with a loud huff.

“Let’s go for a relaxing walk.” Pandora suggested and I took her word for it. I entered the elevator up to the penthouse.

I got clad in a pair of jeans, a shirt and a long coat. I pulled on my rainboots and made my way outside.

I looked around. I entered the forest, feeling nostalgic. I walked as far into the forest as possible. I tried to use my werewolf sense to see if there was any danger. I looked around.

I continued walking, I didn't know for how long, but it felt like years and my stomach was rumbling.

I sighed and sat on one of the tree stomps that was sticking out.

I leaned on the tree trunk. I felt like sleeping, I was really tired from all of the walking. My stomach rumbled again, but louder. No one was going to save me this time if I died here.

The memory of Jaden saving me when I nearly died came rushing back to me.

I didn't really know what happened, but that memory made me get up on my feet, making me more determined. I walked around the forest again. I don't even know how far I was in the forest. I continued to walk, until I felt really cold.

I made a mental note to myself to ask Rachael and Autumn to shop for more warm coats for me. I hugged myself, trying to keep the warmth before I got too cold.

I breathed hot air onto my fingers and rubbed them together quickly, hoping to get them warm.

Not knowing which direction to go, I just walked blindly in a direction, hoping that I was walking the right way.

"Domino!"

"Domino!"

Jaden?

"Domino?"

"Jaden?" I called out faintly.

"Domino, are you out here?"

"Jaden. I am here!" I yelled back.

"Domino, where are you? Don't move, ok?"

"Ok." I cried back, not knowing which direction to shout at.

"Domino?"

"Yeah?" Jaden's voice was getting closer and closer.

"Hey." I said, not knowing what to say.

"What are you doing out here?" Jaden asked, he looked ticked off.

"I don't know, I was just taking a walk, I just felt like I was trapped in there for too long."

He stared at me with those hazel orbs, so intensely that I felt exposed, but he looked away quickly.

"Let's go." he said, starting to walk off already, leaving me closely behind.

I ran to catch up to him, but was eventually slowed down from the cold that I was exposed to.

We walked all of the way home without talking to each other.

I felt like speaking to him, but I couldn’t find the courage to.

What happens if he doesn’t reply?

What happens if we fight again?

I didn’t want to fight anymore.

And what happens if he hated me more because I was speaking to him?

And most importantly, why did I feel this way?
