Chapter Thirty-One

"Today is the full moon." Priscilla told me when they woke me up.

"Today?" I asked.

"Yeah, isn't that great?" Priscilla asked, "We'll be able to be free the whole day!"

"Great," I said to myself. I am going to turn into a hairy beast.

"You're gonna have a fantastic time today, I promise." Tiffany said as they helped me prepare for my day.

"Today is a very special day for all of the werewolves in the realm." Rachael said,

"Everyone doesn't have to go to school or work and it is also the day that most of the werewolves find their mates." Rachael sighed, romantically.

I frowned. So, today I was going to find out if Jaden was my one true mate or not? Just the thought of finding out the truth made me shiver.

"How do you know if they are your mate or not?" I asked.

"When you feel the sparks and the tingling everytime he touches you, also, mates are able to share thoughts." She explained. My heart beat increased by a notch.

"And when do we turn into wolves?" I asked.

"When the moon comes out." Autumn says.

"So, I just turn into a werewolf naturally?" I asked.

"Yeah, all you have to do is call your wolf’s name." Autumn said.

"Ok." I said.

"And everyone would be invited down here." she said.

"Here? Why here?"

"Because King and Queen Crispin are the heads and all Alphas have a forest. All members of the pack need to go to their Alpha's forest, so that everyone can be united and can be protected by other members of the pack if we are attacked."

"Attacked? Have we ever been attacked?" I asked.

"Yeah, but very rarely."

I tried to gather my thoughts together as my heart beat faster. I hoped that tonight was going to be a good night.

**

It was nightfall and the full moon was almost out. I looked around, searching for a familiar face among the sea of people.

"It's almost time for the moon to come out." Brie said, appearing next to me.

I turned to her. "I am so nervous."

She smiled, "Me too, but I have a feeling tonight is going to be everyone's good night."

I frowned, I didn’t feel that way.

"Where's Jonas?" I asked, changing the subject.

"Oh, he will be here in a few minutes. Oh, there he is. Jonas! Over here!" Brie called out, waving her arm.

Where is Jaden? I asked Pandora, starting to feel depressed.

“I have no idea, all I know is that he’s not part of this crowd.”

"Domino, if you need me, I will be over there with Jonas." Brie said.

"Ok," I waved goodbye as she skipped off towards Jonas.

“Is Jaden mad at me?” I asked Pandora.

“Yeah, he is mad.”

“What did I do?” I asked, starting to be frustrated.

“Ask him when you find him and you are going to turn into a wolf anytime from now.”

Part of me wasn’t happy about it because I didn’t have anyone to be with and another part of me couldn't wait, because I really want to see how it felt like to be an actual werewolf.

Suddenly, I heard a rumble as I looked around. Everyone was turning into werewolves.

At first, not knowing what a werewolf really looked like, I would have given one piece of advice; wax yourself, but now looking at them, they were the most beautiful creatures I'd ever seen on Earth.

Those beautiful furs that came in gray, amethyst, brown, light brown and black were so soft, silky and beautiful. I wanted to reach out to pat them.

They were already running to the forest that was next to the mansion. They were so fast that you could only see a blur of their fur color.

“Turn into a wolf already!” Pandora cried, demanding to be free.

But… the thought of Jaden came to my mind. He already turned into a werewolf, I could feel him.

I started to feel nervous.

“Fine, here goes nothing.” I took a deep breath and said my wolf’s name.

“Pandora.”

The moment that I was turning into a werewolf, I felt magical. My whole body felt warm and I could feel my bone shifting around, underneath my fur.

I could feel my sense sharpen, I could hear every twig that was being snapped under the paw of every passing werewolf, I could smell all of the different kinds of flowers that grew in this forest and I could see every little detail from the passing wolves. It was a really special feeling, I reveled in it.

Soon, the beautiful moment faded when I finished shifting, making me realize that I was still alone.

I didn’t know if I was expected to walk or run like the others. I didn’t know whether to hunt or watch, whether to sit down or watch every other wolf have fun. I didn’t know if I should do anything. I didn't want to do something wrong and look like an outsider. I decided to ask for Pandora’s help.

“Pandora?”

There was no reply.

“Pandora?”

No reply still.

I’d never felt so lost before. I decided to slowly walk into the forest, but when I didn't see any

other werewolves, I paused.

Not even Brie and Jonas were here. Where was everyone? It seemed like they were all gone.

I leaned against a tree and squeezed my eyes shut. I willed myself not to cry. I’d really never felt so lonely before.

Maybe if I wasn’t so pressed about the whole marriage, I would have never felt like this?

Maybe if I’d rendered a longer speech about Jaden at the engagement party, he wouldn't have done this to me.

Maybe if I’d bought him a ring too, he would’ve been happier.

Maybe if I hadn’t nearly gotten myself killed, Jaden wouldn't have acted like he was mad at me.

Maybe if I didn’t change into a werewolf like everyone else, I wouldn’t have to worry about what to do?

I opened my eyes and tried to push my loneliness down, when I saw him. His scent was so strong, I knew it was Jaden.

I couldn't stop staring at him, his fur was beautiful. It was a mix of amethyst and gray, just like mine but with different domineering sides. The amethyst color was dominating on his fur while the gray was on mine. He looked audacious due to his stance.

But his presence didn't stop the fact that all of my emotions spilled out, all at once. The frustration, anger, annoyance, happiness, hate, sadness and embarrassment.

I blushed as I realized he probably heard all of my thoughts.

“Yes, I did.” His voice popped into my mind and I jumped a little.

Soon, my heartbeat escalated, it was really fast and I could feel my heart at my throat.

He was my mate. He was truly my mate, I could hear his thoughts, I could smell his scent strongly and feel him vividly.

“Are you just going to stand here, thinking about me all night?” Jaden asked and if he was in human form, I could bet a million bucks he would have a smug smirk plastered on his features.

I blushed and I could feel warmth spread through me.

“No!”

“For a second there, I thought you were. Anyways, let's go.” Jaden said and I could hear the excitement in his voice.

My heart continued to pound as we raced into the forest. It was an amazing feeling, being next to your mate and running in the cold, chilly wind that combed through your fur.

“Let's see who runs faster! Race you down to that tree.” Jaden challenged, taking off.

“Hey! Stop cheating, we didn't start at the same time.” I shouted.

I could hear Jaden's laughter in my mind. I couldn’t help but grin. I decided to pick up my speed and I realized I never liked running till this very moment.
