Chapter 87: Haven’t Lost You Yet

I came to know that Asher was arrested. The police had informed Selena. She was sad and wanted to make a visit, but I was reluctant.
“Please… whatever he did, I will talk to him… but let me meet him! He is my brother, Nick. The one who had always supported me!”
“I wish he was the same, Sel. I wish he was that brother, but he has changed”
“But he is still Asher. He is still my brother and he is in need, so I should go”
I sighed. I was understanding what she was saying but I wanted her to stay back. “Okay, but you will have to stay in the car. First I will go inside and talk, okay?”
“Okay…”
I nodded and started going towards the car. “Please talk to him nicely and don’t get angry” I heard her.
I sighed loudly. “He hurt you, you forgot?”
“No. But I can’t forget everything he did for me, just because of this”
“Okay, okay”
It is not like I wanted to be rude to him. He was my best friend too. Well, he is… but I just can’t forgive him like this.
Selena is my life. I have to protect her, no matter if it is some stranger or her own brother hurting her.
I went to my car and she sat too. I started driving to the Police station. “Don’t forget why he was arrested,” I reminded her.
She just looked down. I know this is hard on her but she needs to understand that he shouldn’t be forgiven easily.
“I know,” she replied. “I am ashamed”
“You shouldn’t be”
“Uh” she sighed. “I really can’t believe that he changed so much”
“It is gonna be okay”
She nodded and we reached the Police station.
“Stay in the car, okay?” I said to her,
“Yeah”
I looked out and got out of the car. I went inside. “I wanna meet Asher, the one admitted today”
“Okay” the officer told us and then took me inside.
I reached a cell and I saw Asher. He looked at me, and was shocked.
“Nick?”
I went to him. “Why did you do this?”
“I…” he sighed. “Look, I don’t even have any excuse. Just tell me if you hate me too”
I looked at him. Did he realise his mistake?
“Did you realize your mistake?” I asked him.
“Yeah… only if you believe me”
“I do. Because Asher wouldn’t lie to me… he only did once”
He sighed and closed his eyes. “I am sorry, Nick… I didn’t mean to lie--”
“It is okay. If you have realised your mistake, it is okay”
He smiled sadly and nodded. “How’s… Selena?”
“Better”
“Hm…”
I looked at him. Maybe he wants Selena to come but didn’t expect her to come anyways. “Do you wanna meet her?”
His eyes lit up. “Can I?”
“She is your sister. The one who stood by you everytime. She is here”
He smiled and a tear escaped his eyes. “Where?”
I smiled. “I am bringing her”
He nodded and smiled. I went out. Maybe he has realised his mistake.
“Go and meet him. He is… uh, maybe he realised his mistake”
Her eyes sparkled too. “Wow. Thanks, Nick”
I smiled and she went inside, and I waited in the car as I wanted them to have some space.

Selena
I went inside and went towards Asher’s cell. He was shocked looking at me.
“Woah… you came…” he whispered.
“Yeah bro”
He looked down and then at me. “Do I deserve to be called that?”
“Yes, you do. Everyone loses their path sometimes. It is okay. I will get you out”
“Woah that is--”
“Nothing. And I will talk with Alicia. Let’s see what we can do”
He smiled and nodded. “I am sorry, Selena”
“It is okay”
“No, I am really sorry--”
“It is really okay”
He smiled more. “You are the best sister”
“Thanks”
We both smiled. Maybe I haven’t lost him forever. He is still my brother. The same Asher.
“I will meet you later now. And this time with a good news”
I turned around. “Sel”
I looked at him. “Hm?”
“Nothing can be better than the news you just gave me, Selena. It is great to know that I haven’t lost you”
I giggled. “You’ll never lose me”
He smiled and then I went out. It felt so good.
“Oh, was he good to talk to? You are smiling like crazy!”
“Yeah he was. He has gotten better. I have to bail her out”
“Yeah, we have to, but for that, Alicia should take her complaint back…”
“I will talk to her”
“Okay…” he sighed.
“What happened?”
“I don’t think she will agree. He almost ruined her life!”
“I know, but we can try”
“Yeah”
We both nodded and then he drove us to Alicia’s house. It will not be a surprise if she doesn’t agree but I want her to.
